I'm glad you're open minded a lot of bow hunters shun crossbows
Yeah, to each their own. I just like slinging arrows, regardless of the weapon.
@@LuskArcheryAdventures I eat both ways. It is what is we always eat both ways.
John, what an awesome compact crossbow that KI is!!! Thank you so much for mentioning our crossbow arrows!
Thanks Sean :)
More xbow stuff would be great! Awesome shot!
Thank you
I'm so happy to see that you finally came over to the Dark Side. It will kill more than just hogs.
Haha. I’m sure it will.
Your hooked now… Lol
I used that same x- bow last year to fill my freezer with venison… a lot of nice features on that bow , with an outstanding trigger..!
Take care John..!
Thanks brother
I 've been hunting with compounds since the 80s but with my age and the cost of compound bows nowadays, I'm gravitating toward the crossbows.
Hell yeah!!! Keep up the great content!!!!
Thank you!
John looks like you are having fun. Keep up the great work
Thanks Dave
John, this was an amazing video and certainly a great hunt! Two hogs in the same sit no less. I really like the Killer Instinct Swat X, and I think it might be my next crossbow! I already have my SEVR Robustos and can't wait to use them this coming deer season. Aging Baby Boomers like myself have a difficult time hunting with compound bows especially when sitting in the cold for a few hours before getting a shot opportunity. The muscle memory just doesn't seem to work! Thanks for telling me about this video! I'm sharing it now with some of my friends.
Thank you!
That camera view mounted to the scope is so much improvement from the earlier cameras you have tried.
Great hunt Bro!
:)
Sweet deal! It’s obvious you’re enjoying this bow. Thing shoots like a laser guided missile. 👍👍👀🐗🐗😁
Yes! Thanks Tim
Great job. I hunt with both myself. I was really surprised how good the GoPro shot looked.
Right? Thank you
What the accutac barrel does is it eliminates arrow wobble. Since the arrow can't bend at the shot it doesn't need to recover from the wobble arrows ussualy have right after it leaves the bow. Since the arrow comes out straight with almost no wobble it gives the broadheads less of an opportunity to plane in the wrong direction. There are high speed camera shots of regular rail vs accutac where you can see the difference in flight.
Thanks for sharing that.
exactly. i love my X1!
Nice!
My favorite combo for my xbow is a #269 schwacker on a 650gr (total weight) bolt @ 30% FOC. It slings them at 270fps and they are very quiet, I rarely have animals react to the shot.
Nice
Very nice… Great video..
Thank you!
Great video! I also shoot heavier bolts at 500 gr and boy did it change my accuracy for the better with more kinetic energy down range. Currently, I shoot a Ravin R29x using the 500 gr bolts with the 100 gr exodus fixed, 3 blade and to 60 yds I can’t shoot at the same spot. I will be anxious to see more Broadhead tests with your KI crossbow particularly with fixed blade broadheads. As always, keep up the great work!
Thank you. I do use my crossbow to test the flight of every broadhead test I do.
I also have the 29X. It’s rated at 450 FPS with a 400 grain arrow.
What speeds are you getting at 500 grains?
Insane how accurate it is up to 50 yds!! Also very quiet
Yes indeed
Great review on a fantastic hunting bow. I've been using an X1 since 2021 and absolutely love it. I've tried high end bows from most manufacturers and they all end up sold and the X1 stays. What lighted nocks are you using? I found lumenok GTCs to be extremely accurate from the X1.
Nice. They’re Lumenoks
Ive been waiting for this video to drop. I knew it would 😊. That Robusto is the perfect head for that combo. Out of interest what fixed head will be first you try? 😁.
Thanks. I’m not sure I see a need to shoot a fixed. But I may try one of the new, huge cutting Bishop heads…haven’t been released yet. Just because it makes such a giant hole.
Nice shot! I smell bacon. I miss shooting my compound but my shoulders wont handle it anymore so I had to go to a crossbow. I like my Killer Instinct Boss 405. At the time I bought it it was a buck under three bills for the kit. At that price it was hard to beat. I bought it as a back up to my Scorpyd and my old Mission 360 crossbows. I bought the crank and upgraded scope + some custom arrows and it's still a very affordable package that is easy to handle, has a good trigger and shoots really well. All that being said there is a big difference between it and the Mission or especially the Scorpyd. The extra money goes into making everything sound, feel, and shoot even better.
Thanks for sharing all that Frank. Great comment.
@@LuskArcheryAdventures I appreciate all the work you do to bring these videos to us
@@frankbrowning328 Thanks brother
Great review. Thank you! Is it possible to safely unload the bolt without shooting it?
Yes it is.
Im already avid crossbow hunter and i do believe i will purchase killer instinct x1
They’re really good! And not super high priced.
If you shorten that rope up by about 2” it’ll be much easier to cock.
You may have to pull the string back a bit to get the hooks on, but you won’t have to have the rope halfway up your chest….. I’ve done this with every crossbow I’ve owned and it makes a considerable difference.
Oh that’s good to know. Thank you.
I’ve almost solely migrated to Sevr’s. As much as I tinker there just isn’t any weeknesess with it.
They really do perform well.
I switched too. My gripe is their weights are not consistent
Wonderful content! Would you use this exact setup on moose.
Yep
CROSSBOWS RULE !
:)
Welcome to the dark side. Be prepared to take abuse from friends, like I have, for experimenting with a non-vertical bow earlier this year. So far so good though. I too have been using SEVR broad heads and they are hitting the same spot on target at 60 yards as a field point with my Mission Sub1XR. Here is a challenge for you -- try getting a fixed blade broadhead to to hit same as a field point. I have experimented with various Iron Will grain weights and can't get them to print anywhere close to field points no matter what vane position. No problem with vertical bow, but Xbow not so much.
Thanks. I use the crossbow in all of my broadhead tests, so I’ve tested many fixed blade heads like that.
Possibly a new broadhead vs hog series?
Haha. I’ve used so many different heads on hogs. I do have a playlist of those hunts.
I love my crossbow. What I don't love is trying to extract arrows from targets that I have shot with it. Someone needs to come up with a crossbow friendly target.
Did you see the video I posted last week about that? It will help.
I use coconut oil on my arrows for target shooting. It makes them pull easily with no strange smell on the arrow.
I use a jute coffee bag filled with used cotton clothes. Arrows are so easy to remove, it's a 2 finger job. They never penetrate more than halfway.
Can u get this same x1 with same scope etc. Kit ?
Yep. It’s on their website-scope and all
What is your exact bolt setup?
I think I described it in the video. 677 grains total arrow weight and 20” long. It’s a Bishop GOAT bolt.
that is heavy, probably at maximum energy @@LuskArcheryAdventures
Why are you such a fan of killer instinct and is the lower end ones good in your opinion. I sell bows and crossbows and I'm always on the edge when it comes to selling models like the firey 400
I just like it. I know it’s not the most expensive. I know it’s not the fastest. But if you watched the video, you can see all the unique features it does have. The ability to generate that speed while still using a rope to draw it. A barrel rather than just a glide to better steer the bolt. A super lightweight and very narrow design. A highly efficient cam. Those are very special trades that crossbows do not have.
@@LuskArcheryAdventures I know this one is one of their top end ones I'm more curious if you've tried their lower end ones. I mean I sell them all the time and shoot them plenty so if they ain't horrible but a crossbow for 299$ always had me skeptical. I never see them come back either so I assume they're doing well for the customers that buy them. I just don't know much about the company and their aim
Haha, my Barnett Whitetail Hunter II still works after years.
I would say that it’s accurate😳
Right!

@@LuskArcheryAdventures would be curious to see how fast it shoots one of bishops goat crossbow bolts weighing between 12-1800 grains 👍
:)
@@paulheberling2750 yeah. I do not add the extra internal footer that adds that extra weight. I did not add it because I try to keep the speed around 300 ft./s so it’s comparable to a compound boat speed for my Broadhead testing?.
one thing is you are really at a disadvantage shooting those overweight arrows, the reason crossbows rock is because they have the speed and power to shoot flat. even if you used a 350gr arrow its going to fully penetrate any animal you shoot with it and keep on trucking, i had them burry all the way into the soft ground after a pass through and lose the arrow. that is A LOT of penetration even after passing through the animal.
I don’t see it as a disadvantage at all. Just more controlled flight and greater momentum. But thanks for sharing your thoughts.
Great video. I got Sevr 125gr broadhead based on your video.
What arrow did you use?
Nice. I said it in the video: Bishop GOAT bolts
@@LuskArcheryAdventures Thanks. Wow that is expensive arrow!
