Nice tutorial - one comment. Scaling up can pixelate the heck out of it. Use the Radius setting instead. I increased my Radius to 2600 and it looked great. Scaling to that was terrible. May be a difference in versions....

That's because the file he used is a png with a transparent background. Use it with a globe image that has a background (like water) and it won't be hollow.
