Great tutorial, thanks. How do I make the globe or the map rotate continuously, so its rotating all the time never stopping and so that it is seamless?
I don't know if it's the best idea since I never used After Effects before that but what I did was that, using photoshop (where I did the planisphere), I duplicated the layer several times (6 in total). I drew a straight line representing the axis I was planning to make my earth "rotate". And then I copy pasted the 6 planispheres side by side along the line, before fusing them in 1 layer. I don't know if I'm clear enough in my explanation but basically it looked a bit like those paper garland of people you do when you're a kid. Then, I set 10 seconds between the two first positions so it took the globe 10 seconds to finish one turn. Since there was 6 times the same planisphere, you end up with a globe rotating for 1 minute. But if that's not enough, all you have to do is make sure the very last frame of your video is the exact same a the very first one. Switch between those 2 positions to make them match, then you just have to copy past your 1minute long rush to last as long as you want !
is there any way I can find the 'green land' part bcs I need to make this project for school but I can't find it and if I can't finish this on time I won't make this year can you please reply and help me out of send me your project file? I'm having a mental breakdown and you could really help me thanks.
Get one full cycle done. Pre-comp and duplicate it. On your timeline, move the duplicated clip above the other copy where it ends until it loops. Export it as a Quicktime RGB + Alpha file. Open in Photoshop and export as a GIF. Or you can use GIF Brewery (Free) and record the screen if you don't need transparency.
Hello, I tried this effect, but unfortunately, the bulge negates the continuously rasterize on my vector globe. (or more accurately, turning on continuously rasterize button turns off the bulge effect). I don't see that happening on your version, is there a trick to avoid this? thank you.
Hey! That's weird. Are you using an adjustment layer to do the effect? Because that shouldn't affect your layer. If you still can't get it to work, you can try to convert your .ai layers to shapes. This way you don't have to check the continuously rasterize button but your layer stays sharp. You can do this by right clicking on the layer and selecting: Create -> Create shapes from vector layer. Hope this works! :)
@@CampKeyframetutorials Thank you so much for the reply. I am using an adjustment layer, but I pre-composed it all, and when I use the "sun" button, it basically nullifies the bulge.
Actually, I had to do that this morning. I followed this tut to create the earth effect and had to change it a bit to create a perfect loop GIF 1. Put your map in the comp. Copy and paste the map and put the start of the map close to the end of the map. 2. Create a null object and link both maps to the null object. 3. Set keyframes on the null so that your map moves. precomp the null and both maps. 4. Go to the first keyframe, and put some guidelines on a spot of the map that is easy to recognize (Command/Control+R and then hold left mouse button while dragging away from the guideline measuring bar to place these guidelines. I recommend to do it horizontally and vertically so it will be a perfect loop) so that you know the initial position. Go to the second keyframe and make sure that the animation also lines up to the guidelines. 5. Do the matte thing as in the tutorial. 6. Create a adjustment layer, add the bulge. 7. Make sure your composition ends at the exact point in time as the second keyframe 7. Now you should have a perfect loop. If not, add 1-2 frames to the composition length and cut accordingly.
Your quick tutorials are far better than lengthy boring tutorials on Lynda and Udemy. Great work . look forward for more.
Thank you for the kind words! :)

What if when I opened the new adjustment layer I get a white screen?
Hmm that's weird. So when you add a new adjustment layer, the screen turns white? Does the white screen disappear when you hide the adjustment layer?
Could you make another video where in you loop it and export to gif?
