I dunno how Android auto works but with Apple CarPlay you can plug in your phone and play lossless audio from Apple Music (and presumably other services that offer lossless) since it is a direct wired connection. I think it even works with wireless Apple CarPlay since it’s a wifi connection, not Bluetooth.

BTW, you CAN put the Polestar 2 into a form of "Accessory" mode like a regular car. Just press the Play/Pause button above the shifter and you won't need to put it in gear to play some tunes.

And a later software update has fixed that issue with climate controls covering the settings and Play store buttons.

This sounds incredible compared with the base stereo in my W205 Merc - truly, truly the worst speaker system in any car, ever. I wanted the Burmester but you can't get it without the Pano roof which, being tall, meant I couldn't fit haha!

I have a Polestar 2. This car with youtube premium is amazing. You can say "Hey Google Play ..." any song and it will immediately play that song. TH-cam music also plays "my mix" which it creates. I'm sure it's algorithm-based, but the suggestions are really good based on what I am currently listening to.
It doesn't need inputs, since I don't play music from my phone, the car/youtube music has all of the music.

I'm getting mine in a couple of days. How well does it integrate with TH-cam music. Should i just go right ahead and switch to Spotify or does YT-M work just as fine?

@@arthursilvamartins6330 I think this is the car manufacturer's fault, B&W in the BMW cars is also not as good as in Volvo's cars. There must be a reason for that, like they give less freedom to the sound engineers than Volvo.

I have a Polestar 2. 3:30 If you select “Driver” then the driver becomes the focal pt for the speakers, it takes everything to the next level… you seen to have missed that one. I also think you seem to miss some of the finer pts of navigating the UI, it’s actually brilliantly simple once you understand it.

The Polestar 2 has with the Plus Package a Harman/Kardon System.

Picked up my polestar 2 last last Monday and was excited to check out the audio system based on your review. I was very disappointed and expected so much more. Doesn’t feel powerful at all, especially on the bass side of things. I’m hoping as the speakers break in it will get better. I did notice the bass sounded much deeper with the front windows cracked a bit. The lexicon system in my 2015 K900 was light years better! That system made me want to drive, just to listen to music.

    • @TrainsFerriesFeet

@@TrainsFerriesFeet I have the HK system. Low end has improved a little as the speakers have broken in (or my ears have adjusted) but still not impressed with the system overall. The Lexicon system in my previous Kia K900 was light years better.

Some of this is incorrect. Inside the center console (if you lift the armrest up) there is two USB-A jacks. One of them is marked with a white line going around and that one can be used to play mp3 from USB. It is the same jack that now enables Apple Carplay when connecting an iPhone.

As an owner of a Polestar 2 (for only 1 week) your comment made me get out of bed to check on this because I had never noticed it. I can confirm that there are ZERO USBs in the center arm rest (2022 model) so not sure what you’re talking about.

Is this essentially the same as the XC40 system? My wife has an XC90 with the HK, and we have an XC40 loaner today with the upgraded HK system. I can say that the XC90 version is better. The last loaner we borrowed had the B&W system and of course that is amazing. PS. Volvos are in the shop a lot.
