    I love this thing, I've had the Infiray version like 6 or 7 months. This is the spec level where Thermals actually become usable defensive tools IMO. I'm impressed enough by it/confident in it and the advantage it provides that it's on my HD rifle.

    That thing is huge! Looking forward to seeing you compare it to the DRS. At what looks like about half the size and weight, I can’t imagine the DRS being that much worse in performance.

    • @4MRRanch
      @4MRRanch  หลายเดือนก่อน +6

      I think the DRS has a more efficient design with the thermal sensor on top, keeping the dot at a standard height, plus it has internal recording, that being said this is a 640 sensor and the DRS is only a 256 sensor, so it’s possible the extra horsepower the Infitac has needs the larger housing.

    • @VincentTactical
      @VincentTactical หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      @@4MRRanch that would make sense. I guess I’m curious if the 640 performance is that much better to justify the extra cost and size & weight.

    0:35 and 7:21 The thermal didn't pick up the heat from that person at what seemed to be well within pistol distance, until he got VERY close, then lost him again after he stepped forward just a bit.

    • @4MRRanch
      @4MRRanch  หลายเดือนก่อน +9

      This was a worse case environment where the ground and surrounding was actually hotter than the person. Triple digit day in south Texas. The dirt/sand was baking in the sun. You’re correct in that the optic didn’t initially prioritize the persons heat signature because of that reason. On the later clip once he stepped back into the shade it re-prioritized on him a bit more.

    Segmented brain, turned into a microchip, and put in a red dot, with one of those polorized screens on it
    I got this idea to where you have a helmet with a projected laser, that tracks your eyes to a given spot, painting a dot on it.
    Then, the gun, has a different color laser on it, sighted in, and you line the 2 up, and boom, no iron sights

      The Holoyuan thermal is kind of shit. This came out first and is way better, an actually functional thermal sight with a red-dot function instead of a bit of thermal definition on top of a red dot like the Holoyuan. Both are incredibly niche accessories tho, most people are better off with a clip-on, but that's an entirely different discussion.

    • @brianmihlfeith7135

    BNC -> 3.5mm or 2.5mm 2 pole connection into a RC drone racer DVR... It has an internal battery and is way smaller than the HDMI adapter. We did this with a SkeetIR thermal. This device seems to be a dead on arrival at its price point, brings nothing new compared to exsisting systems. Dosent help that thermals are primarly used by predator hunting or airsofters, kinda the same reason why clip on overlays like COTI are super "unpopular" or just normal weapon mounted thermals with firearm owners. Very unlikely to used by LE or Mil users.

I used to pay 1200$ for a 32 inch 720p television in 2007, bought a 55 inch 4k 1080p t.v. for 750$ a few year back and they're even cheaper now in some cases. Digital technology is so much cheaper than 20 years ago in so many aspects but the thermal market is run by greedy mfers. Seriously these guys arent making analog image intensifier tubes in a laboratory for the cost to be as high as it is.. Its digital technology the prices are being overinflated for the amount of advancement in digital technology over the years.

    • @4MRRanch
      @4MRRanch  หลายเดือนก่อน

      I don’t completely disagree from you, but thermal censors in general are a more specialized technology. The comparison to TVs isn’t comparing apples to apples. TV tech has dropped in price in part because it’s common use with dozens of manufacturers placing market pressure on eachother. Thermal is more niche, with more expensive components required, a more specialized computational system/programming, and doesn’t have nearly the same market pressure as TV tech due to less competition on that space.

      Your comment is raft with ignorance of how thermal sensors are made and trying to apply the monetary power of volume production of a technology that is not sold at high volume. Sorry but they are factors apart in how many are made. If made in the same volume as cell phones, they would be cheaper than most low-end line of scopes. Your analogy has a few holes in it.
