      So this kind of story happens even in the USA? I though that it could be only in Europe/Asia. Do they lower the miles of the car too? ( like 400k miles to 120-150k)

      Why would that only happen in Europa/Asia? You can get fake Car Histories everywhere (even though the Americans are a _little_ bit better off with Carfax, not sure about Asia and all parts of Europe), Odometer manipulation is easy as hell with older cars as well. Dealers will do everything to fuck you over and make more money off you - everywhere in the world.

    I detailed cars for a living for about 1 year when I was a young man. It is a very satisfying job! If you know the tricks of the trade you can take an old car and double the value of it just by clean it. Widow lady come in once with a 1975 red Cadillac. We took the oxidation layer off of the top of the car, the paint, and underneath it looks just like a brand new paint job. Because I'm his old cars they used several layers of very thick paint coming out of Detroit. Yes the lady was actually selling the car. She came back and said she got $1,500 more after we detail the car for her for $150.

    That's incredible! Mercedes builds such beautiful cars. That thing is 20-30 years old and still looks better and classier than a lot of modern cars. That's true craftsmanship and a timeless design.

    • @jrand2631
      @jrand2631 6 ปีที่แล้ว +66

      Yeah my though exactly -- they should have ripped all the interior out of the car in order to clean it properly. There would be massive amounts of mold on the backside of the door panels and under the seats.

    • @benjaminallred976
      @benjaminallred976 6 ปีที่แล้ว +40

      The mold is what I would be worried about most. If I saw black mold like that on an interior, it's ALL coming out, and it's either getting cleaned or replaced, depending on how bad it is.

    • @gamer20155
      @gamer20155 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    While I respect the amount of work put in here- and having used an ozone generator, there is not a chance the smell from that mildew and mold being in the car will ever go away. Its in and under the carpet, and on the roof skin above the headliner...and the worst being inside the HVAC ducts of the car. Sad to see how badly this car was treated.

      I would kill to get a 1991 500E with the 330 hp V8. It was meant to be a wolf in sheep's clothing. There was nothing to indicate it was different except for the dreaded number on the trunk, which some people cut off so the highway patrol couldn't tell the difference. However, some cops had a sharp eye and could tell by the gap between the wheels and fenders on some models and others would simply get close and listen to it accelerate and knew it was NOT a 190. Some owners still weren't satisfied and tuned or modded the engine to get it past 400 hp! I'd love to take one to the drag strip and floor it.

    In many ways this is a great video and shows how terrible things can be and become awesome in just a single day with many people making it happen.
    One of the things to point out on a professional level is that Ozone can not work to it's proper level when the machine is inside the vehicle. It must convert O2 into 03, but once that's gone over the threshold in a sealed room it ceases to work.
    It can run for day but it won't produce any further 03 (ozone). It's best to put the machine outside and tube the 03 into the vehicle.
    The video is actually fantastic and I applaud the work and amazing transformation you all performed !!!!

    I'm not saying this is the case of this car in this video, but it's scary to know that Hurricane Katrina and Sandy flood cars could so easily be cleaned up and resold to unsuspecting used car buyers...I realize the detail industry does all the time for increased revenue, I'm not criticizing these detailers, but used car dealers who fraudulently clean up flood cars and fail to inform the new buyer ought to lose their business licenses...the cars might look fine, but mechanically, they are potential rolling deathtraps.

      That's pretty amazing, especially if it was left outdoors. Lets say its only a year's dirt (the moss on the roof suggests longer) it should at least have needed new tyres and I can't understand how the mold on the interior hadn't pitted the leather. Mechanically there would be seized parts like brakes and water-pump, the oil in the sump would be solid, all the hoses and wiring should have disintegrated.
      I guess you got lucky and I'm very glad you brought this beauty back to life.
