I love how the whole FFT story has such a heavy theme and seriousness, despite Ramza's appearance to be just a nice guy, he's actually a monster in battle when he needs to be.
My favorite line of his is in the PS1 translation after the battle against the deserters at Grog Hill: "I understand your lives are important, but... is that it?" Absolutely savage. :D
Ramza is the true hero archetype like pure goodness and people usually dont like characters like that preferring anti heroes, villains or complex protagonists. I love characters like ramza where you dont need that complex story behind his motivations or being evil at certain points to do the "right" thing, its on his nature to be good even if he question himself sometimes if that was the right decision or the decision he made coming back to him later like letting Mileuda go the first time ,saving algus and when he helps mustadio . In the end all those decisions of rescuing people without hesitation only harmed his image and made him enemy of the church as he was branded publicly as a heretic and criminal but he never changed despite being falsely acused and misjudged by the masses, thats my favorite part about Ramza, not letting the pressure of his falsely public image making him change but the things he experienced like his father dying words, seeing tietra die and later on the affairs with his family developed his character.
It's amazing how underrated Ramza is. Despite being "only" a squire, he bested Wiegraf, Gaffgarion, Elmdor, Izlude, Meliadoul, Cletienne, Rofel, Loffrey, Folmarv. the lucavi... he was A MONSTER.
The most badass thing Ramza ever did was reaching the last floor of the deep dungeon with absolutely no light, and no knowledge of the entrance and exit locations, all while collecting invaluable artifacts and god-like weapons, only to reach the end and fight a being that literally shouldn't even exist, only to steal his strongest move, befriend one of his homies, and then leave to never return. I still feel like Elidibus' first dialogue line should just be "How the hell did you even get here? What are you? And - wait - is that a Chaos Blade?"
His attempt to save Zalbag after he discovers the conspiracy is my favorite badass moment. He realized that Zalbag knew and then proceeded to back him up, with absolutely 0 context into what Zalbag had been doing, and proceeded in the attempt in preserving his half brother's life. That was pretty dope, dawg.
How is Ramza using Gaffgarion's moves? Is this like a mod or something. I remember maxing out all the job classes when I played this back in high school just to see if there was a hidden class but I didn't find anything like Gaffgarion or Agrias . Also just found this channel you earned a sub! Btw have you tried out Sword of Convallaria yet? It's just like ff tactics, been playing it a lot recently and enjoying it.
To answer your question you can unlock Dark Knight in the War of the Lions version of FFT. Which it's basically like a remaster of the game. Thanks so much and yes I have although I've been busy so I haven't been playing other games as much or newer titles.
Been saying since I own the trading cards, from Playstation magazine, a month before it released. Funny, I got stuck at Dorter and lost interest, took me a few months to come back and realize I could grind to get stronger lol almost didn't like the game, isn't that something haha.
Haha wasnt that a literal theme of the story? Delita was the percieved hero and Ramza, a percieved heretic for hundreds of years after his death. It's poetic how badass Ramza is with low recognition.
Hero doesn't = badass though like it was perceived that way and some people still think Delita is but his combat record is essentially some Limberry Squire, Goltanna, and punching and stabbing Ovelia lol. But yeah Ramza's resume is fantastic
It is War of the Visions I think I still have my clip of her walking somewhere. If I find it I'll upload it as a standalone video. It's short and easy and fast lol
Near the end of the game there’s some hidden dialog with Ramza telling Balk that he’s a weakling with no pride or confidence. It’s pretty good conversation. 😊
That is a good one but I have no real good art of that guy. And I'm not paying 70 dollars anytime soon for another art lol But I may get to that video sometime for sure
@@J7Jase Most players will never see that conversation, because it’s a rather difficult battle and by that point Orlandu usually just kills everything fast. But it’s very amusing!
canonically kills former leader of the death corpse now temple knight solo and kills many others, he may have wanted to end wars, but he was all for jumping into them if needed
Even though his special squire class doesn’t appear as broken like Orlandeu or Agrias, I think his ability to learn Ultima means that his ancestors who defeated the Lucavi before (as implied by Ajora saying that he’s related to the ones who defeated him) must have had a special class that was very broken and might have other forgotten abilities due to their strong connection to otherworldly powers. The only ones capable of using Ultima were the Ultima Demons, and they had other special moves that no humans were able to use unless you’re some of kind of supernatural monster. I’m not saying that the Beoulves are directly connected to the Lucavi, but they likely had/learned/blessed with special powers and strength that allowed them to have equal footing with the Lucavi. Then, over time, their descendants slowly forgot their powers with the Lucavi threat “gone.” But never lost their inherent access to them since Ramza and Alma are able to learn them, and also shown through Ramza’s unusual magic growth as a male character. And instead what defined them as Beoulve wasn’t their access to the powers but the ideals of justice and courage. Now why and how Luso is able to learn Ultima? Probably maybe it’s because he’s the hero of FFTA2 and so wanted him to parallel to Ramza (which wouldn’t be the best choice since it seems like a lazy way of developing Luso special class), or the developers wanted to show that Luso and Ramza have the same strong magical access to otherworldly powers equivalent to the Lucavi, since Luso is able to somehow magically use the book capable of opening portals to other worlds. There’s just something innately special about Ramza that he inherited from his ancestors. I could only imagine he might have the ability to learn other powers but just can’t access them anymore, just only Ultima.
It is very strong in its own way gameplay wise lol. But in the lore and canon Ramza is just a destructive force since sadly gameplay doesn't equate to strength in the lore. And yeah your comment is a good theory and explanation for Ramza and Alma. As for Luso, honestly you have a wonderful comment but I don't think the developers actually put that much thought into his abilities lol. Just copied and pasted I want to say lol. I still wish he was a lot more different than Ramza though.
I would call Ramza's job ''Status Booster Warrior''. As for the story, he was very lonely, out of the matrix dude. And when he killed Draclau, he became one against the world. Therefor he is very tough.
There is a key and major difference from gameplay and lore though. He wasn't really lonely though, he made a group of lifelong friends with many people like Mustadio, Agrias and so on
I think maybe ramza isn't "memorable" is because he doesn't have a special class with cool stuff. His special class is just a squire with some skills that buff that are different. Agrias have Holy Sword, Gafgarion Dark/Blood Sword. Maybe if he would obtained a new class with cool stuff (everyone calls him a heretic, maybe "heretic knight" that would have special sword skills), people would find his lines more memorable.
So people don't remember him because of his class. That probably ignores every other single thing in the game and how he can take on any class himself. No one is limited, so thinking there is a "default" is odd and ignores the story. Agrias and others have those classes because of the story, not because of a game mechanic in itself. He clearly wouldn't be a Squire when he became a mercenary and then a vagrant, essentially, when hunted by the church. I'm not sure "heretic" is a class and more an insult or designation strictly by the church. Vagrant, vagabond, ect. would fit him. Maybe that is pointing out a fault with the developers for not giving him a unique class as story develops and doubt he'd disrupt the balance too much unles they can't help but make another T.G. Cid. Maybe he'd be Demon Slayer by the end of the game or after killing first Lucavi, given that's essentially what they were.
I agree but at the same time people need to look past just in game abilities for things lol. It's like just basing a game on looks or appearance strictly.
@@J7Jase yes, but a lot of characters have something in apperance that distinguish them. Cloud has his buster sword and his hair, squall his gunblade, zidane is a thief monkey. Ramza is more or less just a brave guy that wants to do the things he thinks is right (and a lot of other characters express this in one way or another). Maybe if the buttpants from ramza was more iconic instead of funny it would make him more memorable. Edit: it doesn't help that his best sprites are the first and second chapters (at least in my eyes)
@@NeverWinterguildI think your absolutely right! It is a game after all, he needed something cool to "pop" , but he didn't get it. Alma, actually, is more memorable in that regard than he.
