In this lesson, we answer the following questions
Where does the division in the Mushafs today come from? Should we closely follow it even as divisions within the Surahs themselves? Is there a better division of the Mushaf?

This is an extremely important video for Muslims to watch and live by. When I started reciting the Qur'an a decade ago, I just followed what the people did in the mosques and thought that's how it's done. Later, I started noticing that some Juz's beginning isn't the ideal start for a recitation. So, I now recite an entire Surah or many Surah (depending where I'm in my recitation) from beginning to end daily.

@@As-go6ho Yes I know, I still do that in my prayers sometimes, as long as you're aware that the portion you're reciting isn't taken out of context or changed the meaning, then you're all good.

it’s all fun and games in the beginning (30-20 juz), after that, the surahs get extremely long

@@yr1ds164I don't know what you're talking about "fun and games"!!! Surah from 2-6 are long, but they start getting shorter after that. If you're reciting Qur'an in your prayer, or you're just starting the habit of reciting Qur'an from start to finish monthly, but you can only recite a short amount, then that's okay as long an you're consistent (granted that you follow what's been said in the video: Not changing the meaning or taking recitation out of its context).
But if you're looking for "fun and games", that's not what the Qur'an is there for.

I have lived for a few decades in Saudi Arabia. During this period I had learnt the following about 7 Manzil and 30 Juz of the Quran, as follows:
During the initial period of Islam people recited the Quran vigorously. If they start reciting, say on Friday, it was completed by next Friday. In other words they recited one-seventh of Quran daily and therefore they had divided it into 7 Manzils as it was called, so that in 7 days of a week they could read 7 Manzils and complete the Quran. In modern language they had seven "bookmarks". This continued for over two centuries.
In the third century people became more busy and preferred to complete the recitation once a month instead of once a week. So the new bookmark created in 3rd century of Islam was 30 Juz, so that by reading one Juz daily we could complete the Quran recitation in 30 days of a month.
In Arab countries we have Quran with markings of both Manzil & Juz.

The greatest muhaddith of our time. Terming a well know hadith "fake". Atleast learn some manner in terming a saying of prophet "zaif or false."
Read below paragraph keeping in mind the comment in which you have replied.
Once Rasulullah (Sallallaahu Alayhi Wasallam) asked Ubayy in Ka’ab
(Radhiallaahu Anhu), ‘Do you know which is the greatest Aayat in the Qur’
aan?’ He replied, ‘Allah and His Rasul (Sallallaahu Alayhi Wasallam) knows
best.’ Thereafter, Rasulullah (Sallallaahu Alayhi Wasallam) repeated the
question, so Sayyiduna Ubayy ibn Ka’ab (Radhiallaahu Anhu) replied, ‘Allaahu
laa ilaaha illaa huwal yahhul qayyoom.’ Then Rasulullah (Sallallaahu Alayhi
Wasallam) hit his chest (affectionately) and said, ‘May you be congratulated
      on your knowledge.’ (Sahih Muslim)
Sayyiduna Abu Hurayra (Radhiallaahu Anhu) reports that Rasulullah
(Sallallaahu Alayhi Wasallam) said, ‘Everything has a peak and the peak of
the Qur’aan is Surah Baqarah, and in it is the verse which is the leader of
all the verses in the Qur’aan.’ (Sunan Tirmidhi)
And in a narration of al-Mustadrak, the following words were added, ‘It is
not recited in any house except that the devil flees from it, it is Aayaatul
      Kursi.’ (Mustadrak Haakim) see al-Targheeb vol.2 pg.370
Sayyiduna Abu Umaamah (Radhiallaahu Anhu) reports that Rasulullah
(Sallallaahu Alayhi Wasallam) said, ‘Whoever recites Aayaatul Kursi after
every Salat, the only barrier between him and paradise will be death.’
      (Sahih ibn Hibbaan)

Splitting in 7 juzz does not make it obligatory to complete in 7 days, one can do it earlier or later. The point is, try and read whole surah to get proper understanding of the message and for non Arabic, translation is also important, preferably from different authentic translators.

In Indonesia, we have MSI (Mushaf Standar Indonesia; Indonesian Standard Mushaf). That hizb and its friend are not used. Instread, MSI using ع symbol to denote that we can safely stop reciting at that symbol, because the theme already complete. So, there are no splitting theme across. We call it ruku', because its is safe to use that symbol to stop recitation in shalat and perform ruku.

*He ﷺ said: “Say ‘Subhaan Allaah’ 100 times for it is equivalent to freeing 100 slaves from the offspring of Ismaa‘eel; and say ‘Al-Hamdu li-llaah’ 100 times for it is equivalent to 100 horses saddled with reins ready to carry fighters in the cause of Allaah; and say ‘Allaahu Akbar’ 100 times for it is equivalent to 100 camels slaughtered for the sake of Allaah; and say ‘La Ilaah Illa Allaah’ 100 times.” Ibn Khalaf (the narrator from ‘Aasim) said, “I think he said: ‘…it fills what is between the heavens and the earth,
and on that day out of all the deeds that are risen to Allaah, none will be better than yours except for a person who said what you said.’*

🎯 Key Takeaways for quick navigation:
    00:00 📜 Quran Divisions Overview
    - The Quran contains various symbols and divisions on its pages, often referred to as "ju" or parts.
    - The original division made by the Sahabah divided the Quran into seven parts, not 30.
    - These divisions were based on the content and structure of the Surahs.
    03:07 📚 Origin of the 30-Part Division
    - The 30-part division likely originated during the second century of the Hijri calendar.
    - It was based on the number of letters and became common, leading to variations in divisions.
    - While it's not Haram, it differs from the Sahabah's original division.
05:12 📖 Impact of Division on Quranic Recitation
    - The 30-part division can lead to reciting at incomplete meanings or awkward starting points within Surahs.
    - It can give the wrong impression that it's acceptable to start or end a recitation anywhere in a Surah, especially during prayer.
    - The Sahabah's division included whole Surahs and encouraged continuous recitation.
08:21 🕌 Guidance on Quranic Recitation
    - Current divisions should not be treated as rigid boundaries for Quranic recitation.
    - Reciting what is manageable for you is fine, but consider the meaning and stopping points.
    - Ideally, reciting whole Surahs, especially in prayer, aligns better with the original practice of the Sahabah.

Seems like you're ignoring Ijmaa. The consensus of the authentic scholars over the ages is incumbent upon us to follow. Of course, the scholars will never do anything against the Qur'an and sunnah of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ.
We also have to keep in mind that the Qur'an was revealed in parts. Sometimes full surahs were revealed at once, other times parts of surahs were revealed. During this time, did the Prophet and Sahabah only read those surahs that were fully revealed? Surely they read the portions as well, no?

As long as I know (Correct me if I'm wrong), dividing Quran into 7 part is called Manzil. It is commonly stated in Urdu Mushaf (th-cam.com/video/OLOcXCVHAe8/w-d-xo.htmlsi=E9qS6gF0b0uqaREj) at the bottom of the page as shown in 0:01. In older prints, the beginning of each Manzil usually more adorned than the usual pages.
The name where each Manzil starts abbreviated in فمي بشوق (literally: my mouth is full of longing (to read Quran))
    F: al-Fatihah
    M: al-Maidah
    Y: Yunus
    B: Bani Israil
    Sy: asy-Syuara'a
    W: Wa sh-shaffati shaffaa
    Q: Qaaf

Please refer to Imran Nazar Hossien’s format of completing the Khatam of the Al-Qur’an. The scholar, may Allah bless him, has ashamed the Darul Uloom for not criticizing the Mushaf; he criticizes that they have broken up a Surah and made it into two or more Juz. Personally, I agree with his view and find it difficult to understand the current division of the Mushaf. Additionally, following the order of recitation according to Sheikh, I have found logic behind it. Explain to me why Surah Tawbah does not start with BismillahirRahmanirRahim. I have looked into views regarding this and found his view the most idea, logical one. I highly suggest you look into the order he has put together. I also find other miracles reading it this way, which I believe is the way Allah recites the Qur’an as well. According to that order, we recite the Qur’an by the moon, the lunar calendar, the system of Time Allah has ordained for us and I find beauty in it. So, all in all, please do look into this structure of the Khatam of the Al-Quran. If you would like any further information, please comment.
    And Allah knows best.

Yes splitting the Juz into 4 parts means some context could be missed, but each surah is also divided by many ع symbols and I believe here context is taken care of.

Mostly the mushafs of non arabs have the symbol that indicates completion of meaning and is safe to stop at. Arabs may not have traditionally had that symbol because they understand the language. Now, I'm guessing, with globalisation and everything, so many non arabs reside on arab lands and read from arab mushafs, the symbol of meaning completion may be getting added there too but I'm not sure. Maybe someone else can enlighten us on that .

    Once again, let me reiterate:
It is a sunna to recite the whole Quran at least once a month. A month can be either 29 or 30 days.
Therefore, there is nothing wrong with this practical partitioning of the Quran into 30 evenly spaced parts.

Because these verse 33:36 to 33:40 are heavily interpreted on Shan e Nuzul which is not so sound . Can we interpret these verses of Quran without Shan e nuzul story? or Ex muslims are right that its impossible to interpret these and many verses of Quran Stand alone! please share your suggestion in form of videos.
