Cool video, and your puukko is a gem. Btw, in Finland we tend to carry our knives on weak side. Why? Because it is easier to draw out the knife in a cross-draw manner.

Have ya ever seen the Klax? Its made by Klecker knives, its for back packers who can make a handle when they get to camp, its wicked cool. This is definitely when small batoning would be way more efficient ....I understand that many folks are anti batoning BUT there is a big difference between smart detailed crafting and hammering a knife through a knotted up big log. Common sense sometimes is lacking in the batoning conversation, there is a practical use that doesn't abuse your knife. If a knife can't handle simple batoning then it shouldn't be part of our kits anyways. One huge aspect of a survival situation is to not over exert yourself waisting valuable energy and also not hurting yourself by doing something thats 10 times easier another way. 99% of the time most wood sources can be found already on the forest floor and sometimes almost naturally ready for an attended purpose.
I watched a video the other day where the main "survival" teacher was showing these people how to tie their knife onto a stick as a spear????? He explained how it can be used for reaching fruit or spearing fish? Why would I need to use my knife when it can make a spear that would be 100 times better?

You don't need a axe handle, you are the axe handle

Shawn have used a Bark River Gunny? I'm curious how the Puukko compares to one performance wise as I'm interested in getting one. Thanks great vids as always bro.

+Christian Cork I own a Bark River Gunny in Elmax it's great, very pretty I don't like the handles as much in use.
The convex grind is more durable, same with the full tang construction.
But the rhomboid geometry cuts deeper, and carves wood better. I enjoy the neutral handle more in use on the Puukko as well.
Some find the convex grind easier to make feathersticks with since it won't dig as much when carving but that just a user experience thing. I much prefer the deeper cutting, sharper geometry on the Puukko but YMMV:)

Thanks for info bro. I'm thinking of getting one, I really dig the classic designs, they've been around since time immemorial because they work really well! In regards to the 52100 does it strop back to sharpness easily like O1 or A2?

Definitely it's in the same ballpark as those steels think of it like a 1095 plus that is able to get harder with finer grain and more wear resistance. If your getting a Puukko from Daniel then I'd ask for the 80crv2 steel. That stuff is bomber from Daniel since he's rocking it at 62hrc

I have a bad case of ADHD too bro, and anything with an edge I've never gotten tired of either, soo many diff variations. I've been lookin at your Malanika puukko vids, thinking on getting one. Do you have any experience with his 4v? It's the only PM steel he's offering on his site. Thx, K
