- Wood stabilization changes the wood block many ways. It gets endurance against dirt and impacts, strength, water repellancy, and less prone to cracking or moving... you may also use some spalted wood and wood block with voids if they are your concern with living , natural material. It also limits warping and cracking in hard conditions. So many benefits!
Let's see the Movie! :)

bfxp63 Many thanks!
High craftmanship: congratulations!
Really lovely knife Osmo, that stabilised birch polishes up well. I must get that birch you sent me stabilised. I never get enough workshop time. Cheers, Jim.
Jimson's Stuff Thank you Jim! That's what I am doing too, balancing with timetables and time. Best of luck with curly birch! Osmo
Fantastic video. Thank you
Salvi Caracuel You’re welcome!
Nice Puukko handle!
Survival Mindset Thank you buddy! It pleases me too! Osmo
Great ! It is always pleasure to watch your videos and listen nice music Osmo :-)
stype 977 Thanks buddy! Many times my only concern is to look for the backround music😄 depending on my target.... At the moment I'm free to choose again whatever I want. No partnership deal currently! Osmo
Well done
That wood is awesome.
zenaldiak Yep!
Tip for anyone having trouble with slow flowing epoxy, heat it up slightly. For example with warm water bath or a few touches with a lighter ;)
I have found hot water „bath“ very good 👍🏻
always enjoied watching yr video and listening non copyright music ))))
Ali Haqverdiyev Thanks Ali! Atb, Osmo

maicon sander Many thanks!
Very nice
Fabrizio Levo Thanks!
Hello good work, what brand is the sanding mashine from?
As always, perfect ... Osmo, one question ... where it can be on-line to buy this type of wood blocks or similar? ... Thanks a lot...
sierra echo3 Hi, thanks! Contact me and I can possibly help you. Osmo (www.thetopicala.fi)
Very nice video Osmo!
The wood looks good. I guess you don't need to oil the handle when you use stabilized wood?
kaziklu79 Alex, thanks! Stab wood is careless, yes. Just quick very light sand up to 600-1000 grit depending on your use and strong polish. Osmo
Thanks Osmo!
Wow. Amazing work. I havet just started with my first knife. Apple handle and a lauri blade . I found it hard to drill out the tang hole. Any tips or tricks? Best regards from South Sweden
Hej, always a fresh drill bit and it bites. Don’t try too small drill bit - 5-6mm is good with Lauri blades.
@@thetopicala thank you for the answer. I Will try this.
Hieno puukko! Upean näköinen kahva ja siisti kiiltävä pinta, ite en oo kokeillu stabiloitua puuta, ku en oo raaskinut tilata. On näköjään pakko tilata joskus=)
Make Kiitti Make! Siitä vaan koklailemaan! Osmo

Well done... thank you for the video...
I'm so impressed by and appreciative of your craftsmanship -- thanks for showing us how you do it.
Random Button Pusher That sounds great my friend! Thank you! Osmo
Beautiful work 👍
Thanks buddy!
Yay! Great video, you finally did a tutorial vid! :)
Create Something Yeah I did or did I?😄 There are so many small details that you just have to drop away unless you are not willing to spend three hours on the screen😂😁 Thanks! Your words felt good to me! Osmo
great work, and the music was pretty good
Noel Laflamme (fishfinder401) Noel, thanks! Music is the part of this game. Osmo
awesome work :D
You make it look so easy! Great job!!
Kevin M well, I'd say that it ain't difficult anyway 🙃🙄😀 Thanks, Osmo
The most difficult part is, in my opinion, getting the tang hole bored straight. I do the first hole with a lathe with a drill chuck in the end stock to make sure.
Anyhow, nice knife! With nice looking wood, it would be a shame to make to many embellishments on the handle, so I am glad you kept it clean and simple!
Thanks! I have always done the drilling free handed. Keep on practising! I'm glad to be able to do so many different kind of handles. Osmo
a very nice knife and handle again osmo, you could see the grain pattern standing out even before the finish was applied.
john whitehead I did yes! K had an opprtunity to send some blocks to get stabilized and I knew those blocks before👍🏻 However from some points they did change like color especially. Osmo
nice working thx
Hi Osmo, other than woodsknife and brisa, are there other sources for stabilised woods?
Your work shop has more tools than mine. Hopefully that will change in the near future. The music is Okay. Thank you for the English subtitles, I am language challenged
Milan Radak 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Cool tunes, cooler knife...I've a idea for you with delryn
Wayne D Thanks my friend! What is 'delryn'?
Hej Osmo, really nice knife. The birch turns out great. Maybe a small tip to the slow epoxy dripping... use a syringe.
Saves me some minutes and gets the epoxy all the way down. Just ask your doctor for some. you can clean them with solvent afterwards ( before epoxy cures). Greetings from Belgium ( close to making that leuku)
Great Bear Thank you! I have thought syringe sometimes but never tried. I'm sure I have to give a try! Osmo
lovely puukko you have created. maybe make a norwegian themed version next?
best regards. mark
Mark Stene Thanks Mark! Just gove me some specks! 👍🏻Osmo
Awesome material my friend! Kippis Sven
Onkel Pencho it is Sven! Absolutely! Thank you and kippis! 😄
any tips on where I can find that stabilized wood or better yet curly birch. not having much luck finding any.
tomptrson Hi, Did you find your stabilized xcut curly block? Osmo
If you dont want to wait that epoxy to go there so slow, you can heat it up with hair dryer until it become more liquid. (Just make sure you do that, before putting the hardener)
Teodor Todorov Thanks for the hint! Osmo
