beautiful knife and great review! i'm waiting for a custom forge puukko myself, made by Eero Kovanen. i'm really excited :) actually, boiled linseed oil is a great anti-rust coating for steel, but i've figured out that the Klean Strip BLO is a very low quality product packed with chemicals, and should'nt even be called boiled linseed oil. i've have not seen many americans on youtube use a different brand of BLO than klean strip. that's a pity, but i guess you get what you pay for. again, nice video ATB from Alex, sweden
The metal salts that help it dry will rust under the oil. I ruined a Mora companion with rust by coating it with the BLO. Quick klean is all that's available from normal hardware stores. Hope that Puukko of your is awesome. Make a video when you get it :)
+AC .Bushcraft They probably use it because thats all that is available in stores...or the herd mentality. I use tung oil, which is similar to BLO. I find that it brings out the character of the grain more than BLO. Still smells like sunbaked asshole.
hahaha nothing is. its a design from the 16th century bro. It has evolved. It used to be a blade 120mm long with an upsweep on the tip. Now it looks like this www.kainuunpuukko.com/tommi-187/?vo=0 here in america we need a way to distinguish the puukko from the other (more prominent) Scandinavian style knives that are also called puukkos but I appreciate your concern :) please share more :D What in your opinion is a Tommi knife?
+Big Brown Guy Tommi isnt a design from 16th century. Tommi is a puukko design made by Kalle Keränen in somewhere around 1890. It was named Tommi because Kalle Keränen went to Fiskars bruk as a young man to learn oil quenching from thomas woodward and somehow Kalle desided to name hes own puukko design after Thomas. Puukko is a knife and tommi is a spesific puukko design with red mirror, 95mm long and 19mm wide blade, willow root handle and a spesific design of back bolster. The knife in the video is a Puukko (and very nice one) but not a tommi.
Have to be honest, mine is frightening sharp and a beautiful looking knife. And maybe some years on but the spine is as sharp as any knife I've got. AWESOME knife.!! Helle cant make two knives the same! And Mora!! In comparison?? Puleese!! And why would you want to 'baton' a big knotty piece of wood?? Are your skills that poor!!
I filmed this video with a potato.
I'm going to make another in depth video soon.
Bare with me homies.

Hi man. What's the best handle for a pukko? Please answer me.Thankyou so much.
haha no such thing all preference, birch wood is nice
You paid $190? I sent him an email and told me $350
if you question the price its not something for you
Inflation, FED has been printing a lot, devaluating the dollar, so you need more dollars to buy the same thing.
Fiat is worthless, good tools aren't
I dont get it. Why do you keep calling it a "tommi design" and a "tommi grind"? This puukko isnt a tommi at all!
