    I thought the base plate went on before winding?

      @@Kamerastore If you make sure the prongs stick through the sprocket holes of the film, you can put on the bottom plate and it will always wind up the film and you don't have to waste those two extra frames. :)
      Nice video though! Glad someone explains it in detail for people who don't already know.

    its not necessary to push the film - the wheel does that

    DO NOT WATCH THIS NONSENSE.
    ALL ACTS HAVE BEEN DONE WRONG.

    Sometimes the rewind knob doesn’t spin until about frame 5. Is that ok?

    • @Kamerastore
      @Kamerastore  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes! It takes a few shots sometimes for the film inside the canister to be pulled taut. You can see this for yourself by turning the little knob on top of a roll of film. You can see how much dead space it has before the film starts to move or you feel resistance. If your photos are turning out okay and you're not having frame spacing issues, it's nothing to worry about! Thanks for watching!

      @@JimSollows It's not totally wrong, you're just not supposed to touch the film to help it align, i.e. don't touch the film under the film back flap. The baseplate has a thing that will align the film so you don't have to do it. It's explicitly stated in the manual.

    winding and leaving the camera like that ends up damaging the shutter

    • @ComGoBoo
      @ComGoBoo 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      What exactly do you mean? And how would it damage the shutter?

    • @yasha8951
      @yasha8951 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      ComGoBoo the shutter mechanism is powered by springs because of that you don’t want to leave them winded

    • @ComGoBoo
      @ComGoBoo 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@yasha8951 That won't damage the mechanism. In fact it is recommended that, if you plan to store a mechanical camera for a longer period of time, you cock the shutter, so the springs are tensed up. They'll loose less of their tension that way.
      Long storage periods will still be bad for the camera, but less so. For short periods of time, it really doesn't matter if you cock the shutter or not.

      @@ComGoBoo So shutter cammera springs work the opposite of any other spring on earth. Yeah I'm sure you're right, sure.

    It's really an ordeal to load a Leica M camera, I think my brand new MP will go in the trash after disintegrating it with a sledgehammer.
