- Are gulp minnows the best lures ever made? I think it's up for a debate. This lures catches just about everything that swims. I've caught all sunfish species, crappie, catfish, bass, gar, and even carp with these little lures. In this video, I'm looking just to land a few fish, and the gulp minnows didn't let me down. Maybe cause they're the best lures ever!

I've used this for trout with a Z-Man 1/16 flashback the Barely one onch Mino all day fun. I've even used the 1/8 ounce flashback and the 2inch black and white mino. I'm going to try it alone next time. Nice video
Thanks. Yeah these things are dynamite. Great for trout.
I always use the gulp earthworms and do really well with them. Might need to give the minnows a try.
Have yet to do a video on the earthworms but I definitely recommend the minnows. They’re my fav.
@@ShowMetheHawgs Actually, you have a video on the earthworms. I think it was awhile ago though. It was either the earthworms or the nightcrawlers.
@@SKantar10 yeah I shot one or two with the nightcrawlers but have yet to do one with earthworms. Might do that soon. I’m sure those work really well too.
Same here I never miss with the earthworms.
@@JoMawMaw Yup. Definitely a go to!
Do you have a video to show how to rig the one inch gulp minnow? Hook size and do you texas rig itOr just stick the ho
ok through the middle of it?
I just subscribed tonight by the way 😊
Here’s a video I made earlier this year on how to rig soft plastic jigs th-cam.com/video/yFZ0qe09RG4/w-d-xo.htmlsi=PpO_5wqua3RXMXKi
Berkley makes gulp minnows in different sizes. I most often use the 1 inch variety and put them on 1/64oz or 1/32oz jig heads. Fish them under a float or just the jig. If you fish it with just the jig, I recommend using ultralight tackle with no more than 4lb test line. If you use the larger gulp minnows, 1/8-1/16oz jigs work well.
Thanks for the sub! 👍
I've tried using the gulp minnows because of how good they are for you. I've tried using them as a replacement for worms with a bobber, using them who with a 1/32 oz jig head.
I've found that, for us, the worms catch more panfish. I can't let the minnow just sit like is possible with worms, I have to make it more active.
Maybe I need more practice with them to gain more confidence and technique. I am better with a #0 or #00 mepps thunder bug.
Yeah they’re best when moving. I like fishing them on a 1/64oz jig.
@@ShowMetheHawgs Next time I'll try 1/64 oz
@@ShowMetheHawgs what's the water like where you fish them? Where I was trying it's only about 2-3 ft deep with open sandy bottom and sections of grass/vegetation that grows from the bottom to a couple of inches under the surface.
I find if there's any time for the lure to sink, it'll end up just bringing up grass. I'll have to try the 1/64 oz head next time.
Hey I live in st.louis as well, mind telling what park this is? Thanks alot
Suson Park
They are the best, they always catch fish if they won't bite anything else! I usually get the 2-1/2 inch ones just to keep the really small ones off and if they aren't getting a lot of bites, I'll cut them down to an inch or 1-1/2 inch size and it always produces and prevents the skunk. Just don't spill that stinky juice in your wife's car like I did, I'm no longer allowed to take her car if I want to go fishing LOL.
😆 yeah I didn’t realize those little jars leak something awful until my bag and everything in it stunk to high heaven. Now I use these little container jars my wife gets in her Home Chef boxes. Work like a charm!
