Personally after using Fenix 7x for 4 months I'm arrived to a simple conclusion : there is not a real benefit of Battery life with solar Charge. For the record I work and live in Oman, well known to be an extremely sunny place...after a day on a boat trip the percentage of battery left did not increase but decreased as usual. I find the overall ads about battery life on this device false. Garmin should be more honest because the device is worth it even with 2 weeks battery life.
@@andywongguanhao3801 Have been charging my mobile phone only with solar energy few times, with my portable solar charger (3 panels). The charger solar panel surface is copule times larger, than the solar panel on Garmin watch.
I appreciate this comment. Its what i was thinking happens and you just confirmed it. I wont be buying the 7 and going with the instinct 2 tactical :) cheers
People are not understanding what the solar is for, it is NOT meant as a sole means to charge the watch, only to slow the rate of discharge, which is exactly what it does.
I bought the Garmin Fenix 7x and even though the solar recharging is not doing much, the watch still only needs charging once a month without using energy saving mode.
The photovoltaic area of the display is not enough to charge a li ion battery. You would need to get around 4V to charge it. It's not possible at all. It won't even charge 1% after many hours. I tried it. The Instinct 2 Solar can do it, but the Fenix 7 can't. It's a deception on Garmin's side. And I am very disappointed.
Hello, and thank you for video. I have purchased a Tactix 7 pro (sapp+sol) a week ago. I have tested the battery saver mode for 3 days (no solar charging), and the battery went down 5%, so the 90 days in battery saver mode is not really accurate in this calculation. I didn't do anything with the watch during that time, and completely turn off wifi, notifications, etc. Is my watch battery defected or is it normal? Any experience? Thanks.
Are you sûre it really charged the watch? Maybe you can still power it on after it shut down and be left with that 1% for a bit more.. maybe you should try that. And also it's interesting to see what will happen after few days of charging 🤔
@@SmartwatchLabs I am curious if the 7 series or Instinct 2 series can be charged from 0 to 100% only with solar. Have tried for couple days the solar charging on my Instinct 1 solar, it worked, but I have only one watch, so it is really annoying to leave it on the full sun for 3-4 hours every day.
I have been using the product for 2 months. When I fully charge it, it shows me 21 days. It runs out in 5 days without any activity. GPS is off, satellite is off, wifi is off, heart rate is off, screen brightness and everything is off. What should I do? Garmin Fenix 7 Pro Sapphire Solar 47 mm
Reset and do the settings again. I got 32 days with daily activities heart rate always on. Bluetooth always on. HFR only at nights. Gps only during activities.
I have had to change my Garmin Fenix 7 Solar twice because of different malfunctions. Now the battery won't charge and I have followed Garmin's instructions and nothing happens. This is horrible. What can I do? Thanks
That solar feature is garbage in the Fenix 7. I tested it throughly on a mountain trip of several days. I had with me a solar battery bank for my electronics, with this one could survive for days or weeks as long as you got a device that truly charges from the sun, with this I kept my phone, watch and headlamp charged on my trip, if I did not had the battery bank this watch would have died as well as my phone and leave me wishing I had one; if you plan to be out for more than a day or 2, take a battery bank with you, solar if possible; do not trust Gar-bage-min!
Can anyone tell me when you make it into a simple watch and turn off all smart watch mode plus solar charging at least 3 hours in direct sunlight, will it drain the percentage or will it hold at that percentage and not go down? Anyone?!?!
So why are we paying more money for a watch that will not charge in the sun? What happens if you get lost out un the wilderness and you can't charge your phone to use the gps to get out of the wilderness?
So that means if you leave it in the sun for 10 hours a day for 10 days with the power off it will be fully charged. I guess that is ok if you are in a survival situation and lost in the forest. 🫤
It’s nice to know that with 2 hours of solar you can stretch the battery an extra day
Thanks for this. Definitely worth avoiding as an upgrade from the 6 plus.

You need to stay under the sunlight for at least 3 hours, until the lighter starts charging from the sun

You also need to power off and on to see the change…

In a year noone pointed this out, so here goes: that's bs.

Why instinct 2 can do ?

Yes im sure it did charge. Have done the same with instinct 2 before. Might try a longer test period next time

If the watch is turned off the solar charging doesn't works

How many time for this 1%???
Do you mean how long it took? That was explained in the video. Did you listen to it? Also in the video description its written.
2hours = 1%
1% in 2 hours is a no go tbh

Which solar charger you use?
True
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO FULLY CHARGE FROM THE SUN - THATS THE TEST?
That would be a good test
90
90 MINS 90 DAYS 90 HRS ??@@LGTVQHD
Well it's a worthless video so obviously they aren't going to do a worthwhile test like that.

you'll probably die of dehydration and your watch will be running for a few more weeks.
Em primeiro lugar na selva não á sol tem que levar um power bank e uma bussola isso não pode faltar á e saber usar kkkk

29C lol, in Argentina we have 40C
We don't need a solarium.Because we have electricity on every corner. That's my opinion :)
yeah, you can get electricity from the trees on the forest if you get lost also lol
