Funny enough, because of the amount of leaked versions of Gen 2 we have, even versions before and right after the spaceworld version, Gen 2 actually had A LOT more scrapped pokemon designs not present in Reforged, including over 50 ones that never even got named. i think collectively, even counting old designs of pokemon that DID make it into the game, we had a total of nearly 200 new pokemon designs scrapped.
As the previous commenter mentioned the spaceworld demo was nowhere near 80% complete. While this looks like a nice ROM hack, it does so much differrently that I'm a bit hesitant on calling it "the definitive version" of Gen 2 as the creators of the ROM hack posit it to be.
It was no where near 80% complete. The sprites were there, the maps were somewhat there, but not really for interior maps-especially if you consider warps (doors, cave entrances etc). The overworld sprites did not have text for the most part if you did use the run anywhere glitch to run between maps. And a lot of houses were either empty, or were non enterable. Its important to consider these games were still in a prototype stage. Even if the text was in the background of the game, they werent assigned to an overworld npc directly. A lot of this stuff is being made up by the recreators- and as much as they would like to say its the definitive recreation- its just another rom hack. Also, I dont understand why color was added. That wasnt there either. Im not saying the prototypes werent cool (they definitely were- they were my #1 most wanted prototype for years and years), but to get the truth- I emplore you to test the originals for yourself- and see what they were like. One thing I did enjoy about them was you could do simulations of battle. Give yourself a team, and then give an opponent a team- and battle it out. That was enjoyable. :)
Gen 2 is my favorite by far and all the accusations levied at it are wrong. Gen 3 was the stripped down, milquetoast giant leap backward compared to everything Gen 2 had.
Have you ever thought gamefreak could only work with the tools and technology from that era. You even say it your self, the map is bigger. Yes because I'm sure they have more memory and space to work with
I loved the fire starter in this game. Bears are the best. Warwolf is also really strong, probably my favorite of the "cut" Pokemon that got added back in, and he has great stats.. Turban isn't a bad Pokemon, but he's kind of a stall troll. His Water/Ground typing is really useful though.
I feel like I had a very similar experience with Pokémon Violet to the one you had with Sapphire. Against all odds, I was able to make it to release completely unspoiled. I fully completed the game before going back onto TH-cam to see others’ reactions the story of the game, because Violet’s story became my second favorite (number one is Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Sky) by a large margin upon completion. There was just so much variety in the mood of the storyline, but somehow it all still fit together at the end like a giant puzzle. The conclusion of the story was so awesome to me that it literally gave me chills. That being said, it does make me quite sad knowing how many bugs and glitches there are. Adding the insane game freezing lag. It would have surpassed Legends Arceus as my favorite main series game by a huge amount if not for that, and the fact that the devs completely refuse to fix most of the issues. I have something else to say but it deserves its own comment, so I’ll post it in the replies.
If this had become the “official” Gold and Silver, Aquarius would be my favorite Pokémon over Swampert and Slither Wing. I also forgot to mention in my Previous Comment that Slither Wing overtook Swampert as my favorite Pokémon as soon as I first saw it. Sadly I never found it in my playthrough of Violet though since it’s exclusive to Scarlet.
That’s the mystery. I looked through files on the cutting room floor website and there was just enough to make me believe it could or couldn’t be a fan game in disguise. I often wondered if there is a newer version of the spaceworld files that have been withheld by the dev team due to the lack of information on the website.
I'm currently playing this on an N64 and I have to agree with you. It's probably the best Pokémon I've played in awhile. I don't know which version I'm playing, though. The sprites look different than the ones in your video.
I'm pretty sure that most of this is made up. I don't think the demo had text for most NPCs after the demo area. This is mostly extrapolating based on areas and characters that existed in the demo with no textual context
Since I had the cartridge I wasn’t looking for any downloads but if you visit the pokecommunity forums that will probably get you close. iirc the reforged page has its own discord there.
Etsy looks like it has a few right now that are cheaper than what I paid on eBay. There will never be a “legit” cartridge since they’re all produced by different people, and since Reforged has received a few updates one seller may have newer versions than another, but iirc the changes are pretty insignificant. Just look out for Super Gold/Silver. That’s like version 1 and has the most differences from what I played mechanically and visually. Basically do your research and you’ll be good.
Praising Sapphire as his personal favorite for nostalgia is fine, but Gen 3 was horrible. There's so much they didn't bring back in terms of features. The map is tiny compared to Gold and Silver. Anything it did well, GSC did way better.

I wonder how much pressure the artists felt to make well designed and marketable Pokémon after the franchise blew up.
98 sprite archive my beloved

I’m kinda GS beta obsessed, currently working on a hack of my own on it

I was really hoping we were gonna get more gen1/2 beta content. It's fun to see early pokemon stuff before the series got sanitized.
Fun fact: okera was actually pryces beta name. Great vid btw! This made me buy a physical copy, and ill say, it doesnt disappoint!

Mario party 7 video when, heard its your fave game
It's cooking.
the whole control pokemons sound reminds me of pokemon ranger shadow of almia
Where do I get the coin case??

I think Turban was Water/Poison in my version. Fell victim to many surprise earthquakes when I’d dig.

This is actually really cool! I wonder if this was originally a fangame idea they decided to put into the SpaceWorld Demo instead.

2:17 Don’t let the Gen 5 fans hear!

You must be playing Gold 97.

The 97 Reforged games are AMAZING
My favorite Pokemon ROM hack
Right above Prism, Brown, Unbound, and CORAL IF THEY EVER FINISH IT ! 😅🤣
Where do I get this reinforged version as a Rom?
Since I had the cartridge I wasn’t looking for any downloads but if you visit the pokecommunity forums that will probably get you close. iirc the reforged page has its own discord there.
Happy Tapioca
Do I have a good chance of buying a legit cartridge version of this if I look now

Silver and gold are the best games. You are a fake fan.
