The lady totally misses the point of music. You choose music that speaks to you. Fade to black literally saved my life. When you are depressed and really really down experiencing suicide or agression through music can be really therapeutic.

Love LOVE LOVE Rob Halford and I think he'd become more introspective after his departure from Judas Priest in the 1990's, but it's beneficial to keep in mind that this comes from a man who wrote "Eat Me Alive"... ... still it's a slippery slope when you start censorship of artists and when you do kids consider it forbidden fruit and just want it more. But ultimately as a parent and as a parent myself, you have to trust in your child and the moral lessons you tried to instil in them when they start to navigate the adult world as teens. Coming down on them self-righteously, ultimately suppresses and demeans them. You want to keep your kids from liking naughty songs ?... learn them and sing and dance to them around your kids and their friends ! Because: A... kids want to rebel and B... they want to feel inclusion. It's all part of them needing to find their own way in the real adult world and either they will see you and think this is extremely uncool or you will develop a separate part of THEIR lives to bond with them with and may see ways they may be emotionally vulnerable and possibly apt to run off the rails earlier.

That may shock some people. It doesn't mean I am "conservative" on every issue, but on many issues I am. I could never vote for the liberal party or the further left party where I live because many of the issues they push, want or intend to do if they get power are simply ridiculous. Conservatism is not always bad or is death to your brain cells like you have suggested.
There's actually a large portion of metal audiences that are conservative. We're just not loud and obnoxious about our political beliefs and pushing them on others.
I think it is undeniable and beyond dispute that music conditions the spirit of the person who is listening. I listen to Rammstein, raubtier, criminal, and I see that there are people in the audience doing the Nazi salute and taking aggressive attitudes. they shave their heads, wear military boots and stuff. the most fanatical copy the attitudes, clothes and way of life of their idols. this is so. Censorship sucks. Music reflects the world and the world isnt a perfect and positive place. There is good and bad everywhere. Music and art must be an honest expression of the artist with no censorship. Otherwise its not real. Its only something thats "allowed to be created". Parents are the ones to blame for what their kids see and hear in the home not artist and musicians. I agree that some material should not be heard or viewed by minors. Anyone over 18 should have the right to buy any music they want or view nudity of adults. The real issue here is not should we censor or are artists free to express, the issue is responsibility. You could place it solely on parents but I think artists have a responsibility to in this case children of society. Freedom should never be misconstrued as washing one of responsibility and that’s often what artists want to do. Typically they want the shock value because they know it sells, the more shocking the more kids want it.

Rap might be great to some, to me it has influenced many young people negatively and I don't even regard it has "music". Rap has been far worse than any metal band and their lyrics I grew up listening to.
