This pack is essential for any player and especially the new ones. The only way to have everything without spending a fortune on ships that you will not use. The video is very interesting.
This has probably been the expansion I was most excited to open. Seeing all these upgrade cards and the beautiful art. Amazing.
There's some tokens in the box, between the sleeve and the cardboard. For the proximity mines and something else iirc
This has really revitalised Armada for me, can’t wait to see these on Ryan Kingston and build some fleets!
I'm still dissapointed they changed card sizes, the upgrades in mini size are so convenient.
I HATE those small cards. This is way better as far as I’m concerned.
I really like the fun of selecting upgrade cards when building my X-Wing squadrons, I do not want to see them go away. I think it would be interesting if, rather than including upgrades with the ship expansions, each wave had an upgrade card pack with multiple copies of each non-ship-specific upgrade introduced. Then you could just buy the ships you want to fly, plus one card pack and have everything you need, rather than waiting for your faction to gain access to a specific card or buying outside of your faction.

I am glad you are not in charge of Armada LOL! Upgrade cards are CRITICAL to the game. they allow for so much variability, fleet building, etc. yes you could go the route of quick builds, unique minis, etc... but I think the options during fleet building is one of my favorite parts of the game... imaging not being able to choose the weapon loadouts, titles, going skimpy or fully loading. Would it still be fun? yeah. but it wouldn't be armada.

I think this is good point for repackaging old ships and maybe even get price drops based on smaller package.
They could reprint old ships and box only content is ship, ship card and ship stand. (No upgrades, no command dials and no upgrades)
So much possibilities for pro consumer strategy.

Scenario:
The Empire has a 'light' blockade of a planet (or hyperspace lane, etc) and the Rebels have to push through (for whatever reason). But the Rebels have packed out their fleet with heavy torpedo ordinance with the Hammerheads. The CR90's serve as a screen for Fighters and Bombers and X and Y wings as support and GR75 as the supply ships and repair teams (also is primary target).
I like the change to Ozzel. I think Ill try a new build around him.
Mine is finally coming tomorrow, so excited to finally play some clone wars armada.

Because the art is so good, and I don't like Standard size, I am tempted to cut my cards in half and glue both halves together (like new ship cards)

Anybody else kinda bummed that the cards are going to take up a lot more space on the table when playing? I really enjoyed the unique look of having smaller upgrade cards. But who knows, once I get some of the larger ones, maybe I'll like them more.
I think this is a great product! I kinda wish they separated the Empire from the Rebels in separate card packs. Now I have a bunch of Rebel cards I will rarely use. Regardless it is a welcomed product!

It would be kind of cool if they released a card pack for each wave as they came out. It would be an easy way to keep players on a budget making small purchases and continue to participate in “new stuff”
Great addition to the game. Really surprised that they decided to print the points on the card, would have liked them to follow the X-Wing model of online points system. Perhaps they don't anticipate making points changes quite as often?

They both affect navigation in slight different ways but they could easily combine the 2 cards into 1 in my option for slightly higher cost and made a "new" commander ability

Yo! How are those cards so huge?! 👀 the ones I got with my ISSD are tiny miniature cards. They’re not normal sized like those ones at all?! 😮 was that a feature before the upgrade pack released? Or am I missing something?
Was on the fence about the card pack. Now I just have to hunt down one that is not reserved.
Like some I wish they gave a few more copies of particular cards, but overall I like this.

I wish they added some of the generic cards from the clone wars starter sets. I don't plan on spending another $200+ to get up to date on new factions.
Was thinking about this driving home, while I like upgrades, wouldn’t it be awesome if there was a quick play feature for some quick speedy pickup games? Special versions of ships as you suggested to put any two or three together on a short board for a quick death match?
So how many boxes would you think someone should own to get Enough upgrade cards to field a fleet. I was Looking at getting 2 But I'm wondering if that's not enough. It's too bad they just don't have one that just has the upgrade cards for everyone I'm not the special unique ones since technically you only need 1 of those. So we get stuck by the whole thing multiple multiple times.

Can I still use my old promo art commanders? Vader should be ok but Tarkin has altered points now. Do I just reflect it by having the correct points on my written list.

The art now has more visual impact. So does all the empty text box space. Not a fan of upgrade card size 2.0. Oh well.

Yes! There are a lot of upgrades in this pack that you can only find in other factions. And, theses have updated text and ruels clarifications that may not be on the older cards.

@Crabbok How essential is this if we have all of the regular upgrade cards? (i have at least 1 of every rebel and imperial release)
Somewhat less essential, but still of extreme value. The errata and adjustments to points are helpful to have in print, and the bonus copies of everything would cost you hundreds upon hundreds of dollars to get otherwise.

What's the card size?
I'm glad they made this, but I'm not fond of the larger size. I don't understand that change. In my circumstance space is limited and this will hurt that it's awesome to be able to get commanders without buying a ship you don't want.
I'm picking up the Clone Wars starter boxes, do I need one of these as well given that most of it is Empire/Rebel and I don't plan to play those factions?
Absolutely. About 1/3 of the pack is Rebel/Empire, but the rest are generic and represent cards that would otherwise require buying almost one of everything that has come out before now from both factions. Yeah the extra cards suck, but there's no guarantee that GAR/CIS will get expansions with these cards.

my lgs was supposed to save 2 of them for me and they didn't they really screwed me over as a new player. Its ok tho
Some times it’s the distributor and not the store. Of course, I don’t know the details. My LGS ordered something from GW and he didn’t get it, and it was a limited item. So, I lost out on it. So, I feel for ya. Good luck

The size of the cards bothered me when it was announced, and it hasn't grown on me per se, but I am getting used to it.
Weird choice to only have one of some non-unique cards.
This looks like a double purchase.
This is supposed to be for new Clone Wars players to get in the game. Half the cards are unique Rebel or Empire that have no use to new players. There are not enough of the cards they need. They are going to have to buy two of these.
I'm just thankful to get the SSD commanders w/o having to pick up the ship itself. Everything else is errata and spares for me
Man, the more changes we see, the less interested I've become. Most changes make ships more predictable and overall less effective. That's a shame. Demolisher was very effective but expensive. Now it's fairly effective but still expensive. I just don't understand many of these changes.
The nerf to Avenger is dookie. Talk about destroying a card. Yikes.
