A regular guy with a regular sail boat with some issues living his dream....Really enjoy watching these videos. You are in one of the best places to live on a boat full time.
Love how open you are about sharing your journey and your adventures. The music is a nice touch! You’ll have to share your creative process with us sometime. Thanks for sharing! ❤
I have worked in the Bahamas on two stints, now I am sailing in the Abacos. Non-essential foods are expensive such pop, chips, triscuits. Beef is hard to come by, chicken and pork are readilty available around the country. You should try some traditional Bahamian breakfast dishes- this part of the Bahamas most people miss out on. THe breakfasts are the best part of Bahamian cuisine, in that not a single breakfast dish is deep fried. Many of these breakfasts can be made for lunch and dinner, and many of the items are pantry items that do not need refrigeration. In Nassau, try the Cricket Club for fairly priced restaurant meals.
Who’d a thunk it? Fair prices on an island. That’s a welcome surprise. I always appreciate original tracks. I think you should keep them coming. It’s just one more aspect of keeping your channel “you”. Happy sailing snd God bless
Mike, your videos just keep getting better and better. I’m really proud of you dude let’s hang in there. It’s not gonna be long till I’m rubbing shoulders with you and not not in the kinky wave but yes we’re going to be. some diving and some sailing let’s talk real soon. A week maybe a few days more. I’ll be back in the water, need a bit more gear. Don’t know about you… best year yet. Whadda you think?
I always find your vids fascinating...Have you seen the vid from GnT Sailing about the boat that caught fire? I feel bad for the owner who lost everything.... Be safe out there!
Don't forget! It's not all rainbows and sunshine. If you watch season 5 you will see! I earned this th3 hard way. I only hope people learn something here!
You never said which anchor/weight. For 3 years as a 125# single sailing gal age-39-41, regularly pulled up delta 44/all chain (Cal 36) by hand. My current boat (Tartan 34c) has an electric windless; feels like I’m cheating! BUT-older now, my back is thanking me! 😂Also, just shows price gouging in USA; several cruisers passing thru NC have been impressed with Bahamian pricing of goods, which is a change for sure. Enjoy!
Another question, why when you are anchored so shallow in tropical waters do you not splash in, and visually check your hook on the bottom, rather than stress?...it takes minutes with a mask and snorkel.....
I do often. However in some areas sharks are an issue. Often you have sailed all day sun's going down and I just don't feel like expending the effort. Having the right anchor and chain is so important. It allows you to sleep..
@@sailingEV888 have you done a video on your personal belongings? Did you keep a property, buy a storage locker, or leave stuff with friends and family? That would be interesting to know if you are away for close to a year
Well I have lived on this boat for 6 years now. Everything I own is here. I keep a car at my parents underground parking. But that's it. Everything is right here with me at all times..
It was a very interesting video, your boating life is very intriguing and I'm sure quite beautiful at times, but isn't it also an incredibly large amount of work each day, does it get overwhelming ?
Don’t waste your time going to Nassau. Go to the Northern tip of the Berry Islands. Stop at Great Harbor Marina. You can anchor close by and get fuel there. How deep is your draft?
@@sailingEV888 so you can get into Great Harbor no issues. We did it on a 6’7” draft Amel Super Maramu. You will have to go back north a little bit to go down the east side of the Berry’s. Soldier Cay is a great stop! (One of my favorites). Nice beach and conch around. Another must stop is Hoffman Blue Hole. It’s the Southern tip of Hoffman Cay. Follow the chart go in behind White Cay. Stay in the channel. The blue hole is a short dingy ride away. Good holding at both spots. Enjoy!
Yeah ive been to the bahamas several times(im in georgetown exumas now), nassau is a stopover point at best. Its too crowded and the anchorages arent great.
Yes they are fantastic! My battery level has not dropped below 12.9 volts in weeks and I run a fan and desktop computer with an 20" flat-screen all day long! 650 watts in total with a morning star mppt controller.
Currently where I’m at they hate if you bring a Jerry can of fuel with you. If I try and go into town and bring back fuel I got told to never return again to that place. Hopefully it’s different there.
Let me a 35 year 60 year old solo sailing world cruiser lend you a bit of anchoring advice. You always put all youre chain out if you possibly can. You paid for it so use it. The reason is the anchore is only 10 percent of the anchor holding. 90 percent is the chain. If the water is 40 feet deep. You only really need the winch for 40 feet. Cause thats where the weight is . The depth of the water is the weight of chain and anchore that needs to come up. . Even if you put out 200 feet of chain. You just motor up on the chain till you have last 40 feet to pull up. Trust me.
This is terrible advice, the catenary effect disappears at around 20kts. 5-1 scope is plenty with modern anchors, 7 if it’s windy. 200 feet of chain in 8-10ft of water is ridiculous. Fwiw, I spent approximately 500 nights at anchor between Nova Scotia and Bahamas. Had a tropical storm blow right over 55-60kts and didn’t budge, countless 30kt days, never dragged. I was a 2001 Beneteau 411 with a 55lb (25kg) anchor. 200ft of 5/16 G40 chain edit- anchor is a Rocna
The music was a greatest hits collection from all of your other videos. I appreciate your acoustic compositions more than the other music you've had in your videos. The woman singing with autotune has to go. I'm loving watching your adventures. Keep 'em coming!

Thank you Mate! Let's both have a long and healthy calm existence. Stay calm. Hold fast!!
It's definitely not simple. Everyone would do it if it was. You have years in... I think it will pay off.
Mike, it's looking like a good window on Saturday mid-day to go to the Berry Islands or Nassau - BE PATIENT !!

Hey man. I like the background tunes. They're definitely thematically appropriate.
Oh yeah I’m watching on the television but I have to go to my phone to make comments so that’s like double clicks every time… Yay Mike… Michael
Looks like you need one of those foldable bikes to tackle some of the walking.
Definable a must!! Of one of those E scooters??
Thanks!
Thanks Rusty! This will go right to fixing NY outboard. Appreciate that digital mate!!
Liked the music. the outro sounded like Nirvana's Something in the Way.

I miss Alice town! First time I visited was in 1981 and was 11 years old.

Thanks for the information! Very interesting! What is the name of your boat?

Guitar was cool.. Did you do the keys and drum programming too ??
So what was the price difference on the Campbells soup from the corner store to the grocery store ?? It was $2.65 at the corner store ..
Great vid, bro!
Look how fast it grows... so close to the dream. Takes years and all of a sudden, it 10X in a month. Yer getting it. Hold fast.
I wish it was that simple!! For now day by day.. video by video..
Got to stock up on the powder milk. It last so along and it taste the same to me.
I'll try that. Any brand that worked for you?

Would have liked to see the actual price for chicken and milk and stuff.
But overall I have the feeling that it can’t be much more expensive than NYC
As for food costs, buy fishing line and lures. As for fuel, buy oars
I was wondering are you solar panels hooked up and working

Why size and type of anchor do you have?
To be honest I found it while diving years ago. It's a delta but huge!! We are talking 4 ft long! Lol.
