I love this mug rug and have made it several times. FYI: The printed instructions say to cut the strip unit into 7 1/2 inch sections, but when I reviewed the video the sections are only 7 inches, which makes sense if you want 6 sections from 42 inches of fabric. I love this mug rug for gifts for people; it is so cute, fast, and great for anytime of year! I am making fall ones today. Thanks!

Newby questions. Can you sew your horizontal pieces, then chain stich the side strips and then cut it into the 11 inch mats? Either way I bought jelly roll strips specifically for this project. Thank you for sharing this.
If you cut the strips used for the side strips into the correct length pieces, you could then chain piece them to the sides of the mug rugs. Happy Sewing and enjoy the project!
