I love mug rugs. I just made two in this style yesterday, but I made them about 4.5 by 8. I'm wondering if I should increase the size a little, like yours are. I have a BEASTLY time with the corners when I'm doing the self binding!! I tried to miter the corners and that just did not go well, so back to the flat ones. By the way, I love that backing fabric, and the tulip fabric.
I know that your Mug Rugs are wonderful. The size is up to you. I have seen little ones just big enough for a cup. I like mine big enough for a cup and a snack. I have seen mitered corners and square corners so I am sure yours are fine. Thank you for watching my video and Happy Quilting.
Now that I've watched your video, I'm going to try the stitch & flip for my pieced xmas tree mug rug & bind it the same way you did & then I'll add my extra quilting if it looks good like that. Thanks for the video and the great idea!
Hi Lori, Thanks for visiting my channel and for your kind words. Have fun with this technique. I would love to see a picture of your Christmas Tree Mug Rug. Happy Quilting. Just email it to helen.quiltbindings@gmail.com.
Love your rugs! I had planned to give a mug cozy and rug to the ladies in my Bible study for Christmas. You have given me many good ideas. Thank you and God bless.
Thank you. I made a whole quilt out of these fabrics. This is a link to my blog with photos. quiltbindings.blogspot.com/2015/04/quilts-for-my-aunts.html
I am new at editing, so it is usually one take with mistakes included. I figure that I showed two ways to sew down the corners. That's my story and I am sticking to it. LOL Thanks for visiting my channel.
Thanks for visiting my channel. I have not tried bias tape. I really prefer hand-sewing my bindings down, especially on my quilts. I like fast and easy projects. I have a lot of fabric to use up. Happy Quilting.
Yeah I think I agree with Polly who said you're workspace is so clean. Plus she loved the colors you chose so I am going to try to find the same colors in my stash. Thanks!
Great tutorial. Have you ever tried Elmer’s school glue for your binding. Just small amount glue around press to dry with a dry hot iron. Makes sewing so easy if you machine stitch or hand sew.
Thank you for visiting my channel. I sew on a 440 QE Bernina. It is 17 yrs. old. The acrylic table did not come with it. Google acrylic tables for sewing machines. They will make one for your sewing machine.
I agree, but my iron is across the room. I am not that good at editing yet, so I decided to just finger-press each seam. I ironed everything at the end and it looks just fine.
Google sewing machine acrylic insert. You will need to order one that is made for your machine. Not all machines are the same. It really helps me, since my machine is not inserted in a cabinet. Happy Quilting.
To be truthful, my iron was on the other side of the room. I am new at videos and try not to do a lot of editing. I would have given it a good pressing otherwise. Being so small, it was not as big a deal. You could press after each added strip. Especially, if you were to use this method on a placemat.
Thanks for visiting my channel. I agree that there are many ways to make a mug rug. My goal was to show even beginners how easy it can be to make fun gifts.
You did a great job with this video, and your sewing space looks so clean and organized!! And I love the fabrics combinations you chose.
Thank you, Polly.
This is actually called the quilt as you go method. Very nice.
Some call it stitch and flip as well as quilt as you go.
I have never made a mug rug but I am going to now. Yours is so pretty, and I love the fabrics you chose.
Thank you. Have fun making yours. They are addictive.
Thanks for the well-organized tutorial. You didn’t rush, and I really appreciated that!😊
Thank you for your kind words. Happy Quilting.

I have not tried this method. I have a friend who Elmer glue bastes her quilts before quilting.
Beautiful rugs.
Thank you.
Very nice, really like these!😊❤️

I enjoyed this very much
Thank you for your kind words and for visiting my channel.
I love your plexiglass table . I was trying to see what sewing machine you have that table is great.

Thank you for subscribing and your kind words.
They are extra large for a mug mat. So a bit different, but I like them all the same. Thank you for sharing
Everything is bigger in Texas. lol Made for a large cup of coffee and a snack.
@@hkreca622 sounds good to me. Hehr
I love the idea but I think when you iron as you go especially for the binding it makes for a much neater end product
I agree, but my iron is across the room. I am not that good at editing yet, so I decided to just finger-press each seam. I ironed everything at the end and it looks just fine.
Great video, what machine are you sewing on?
A 15 yr. old 440 QE Bernina. Thanks for visiting my channel.
Where’d you get the glass around your sewing machine?
Google sewing machine acrylic insert. You will need to order one that is made for your machine. Not all machines are the same. It really helps me, since my machine is not inserted in a cabinet. Happy Quilting.
😊
Cool!!!!!
Thanks
I didn't hear how long the strip s are
Curious as to why you didn't press the top before binding?
To be truthful, my iron was on the other side of the room. I am new at videos and try not to do a lot of editing. I would have given it a good pressing otherwise. Being so small, it was not as big a deal. You could press after each added strip. Especially, if you were to use this method on a placemat.
I would have done a few things different, but ok
