- A front-seat video of Mountain Flyer, our new-for-2011 wooden roller coaster at Knight Valley in Shenzhen, China. It is our tallest, fastest, and longest roller coaster to date!

This honestly looks like one of the best woodies in the world. It's a shame so few people have ridden it, because I doubt it gets the recognition it deserves. I'm sure it'll be right up in the polls after TPR's next China Trip though!
unfortunately 10 years later the ride/park is practically abandoned. :(
@@AmusementLabs it is ? :(
@@looklessugly7285 yeah, The Coaster Kings went recently and it's really sad what it's become.
@@AmusementLabs that sucks :(((
@@AmusementLabs You have a video from it?
My wife lives in Guangzhou and when I go back in August we are taking our delayed honeymoon to Macau and I asked if she would mind if we stop in Shenzen to ride this and she said yes we could. Can you say worlds greatest wife. So looking forward to riding this.
Such a cool ride!
This is the best pure wooden roller coaster on earth…There’s not a close second…
what a perfect looking coaster. talk about best in the world material
that looks like a blast to me, and very long and relatively smooth for a woodie
Wow...that was incredible, and thought I love RMC acrobatics, GCI still packs an amazing punch and superstar layout! One of the best I have seen in a long time
Holy moly, you guys. I've been waiting for this video. What an amazing layout. Great job! Well done!
That looks like sooo much fun!!!!! I would ride this a hundred times in a row if I could!!!! Awesome vid!
Perfect ! Sounds like the best wooden coaster ever built... Congrats GCoastersI !!!
Love this coaster!! It's my #1 wooden coaster right now :-D
A Beautiful Wooden Creation......
Beautiful sweeping hills and turns...this makes me want to relax...
I am so jealous of this. I began saving up money to go to amusement parks around the United States but I think I am going to have to go to China just for this. This would hands down beat El Toro for my number 1 coaster. I'm praying for something like this at Great Adventure, obviously without the terrain part, but maybe some trenches or something.
@GreatCoasters This is REALLY nice!! Love the use of the mountainous terrain and the style of the ride: its compact but you spaced it out a little more with the use of more land; I really like it. Will have to ride one day
This is GCI. They're all about fast turns, quick directional changes and small, airtime filled bunny hops.
This looks incredible.
This coaster is a work of art. While I haven't ridden KV and probably won't get the chance to, I'd venture to say it might be Great Coasters' finest work to date. :-)
Can't wait for the new coaster your making here in Florida!
(The new Gwazi trains actually made the ride feel rougher then it was before. Then again the ride is turning 13 years old this year)
Incredible. It reminds me of Thunderhead. I love GCI so much :)
That looks like everything I love about Thunderhead cranked up to 11
BEST COASTER VIDEO I HAVE SEEN...OH MY GOSH....WHAT A RIDE !!
Looks really great. Love how twisty it is :D Hopefully, being new, it combines the feel of a traditional wooden coaster with the smoothness and comfort of a modern one.
Ive ridden my share of GCIs before and all I can see after seeing this one for the first time is daaamn. It seems like its going downhill constantly and it has that lurching feel of rides like prowler.
What a beautiful ride, thanks
It looks absolutely beautiful!
This is my no.1 bucket list coaster, and other than rmc's, every other top 10 bucket list coaster for me is in china
@xtremespeed128 There are laterals on El Toro, but it is because the two ends of the transition are quicker than the center, so when you stop transition you get a rotational jolt. You get rotated at the center of your body which means that it isn't a lateral where you are sliding, which is what makes laterals fun (as @slosprint5 mentioned) Also, El Toro has restraints holding you in on laterals which can be uncomfortable on the hips rather than the side of the train or a divider
Now that coaster was whipping it through the track..... Rolling
That pacing is unreal.
@IntaLSM Yes, I have been on El Toro, as well as some of the greatest wooden coasters in the world (Boulder Dash, Hades, Phoenix, etc.) and what makes wooden coasters great is that at no moment do you feel safe or secure. The laterals on El Toro came from it's smooth transitions, something you can get on any transition and steel coasters do it a lot better on rides like Maverick. Btw, fantastic work on the re-tracking of Boulder Dash, GCI! I nkow this is a bit late, but you really improved it!
That is sooo cool!!! It has like 3 first drops!!
I needed a USA trip already, but with new coasters like Star Ripper and this one I need a China trip! Only thing missing on this one is a under-banked turn (see end of Joris en de Draak, George and the Dragon)
@slosprint5 Laterals include twisting forces, of which the last part of El Toro has plenty.
really nice !!!!
I like this ride a lot, but I don't see it beating the Voyage as #1. It has some nice elements though, such as staying banked even when it wasnt turning. The way it uses the landscape was well done, and it had a nicel tunnel. I wish it had a few 90's!
The orignal Mountain Flyer was in Holyoke Massachustetts.I never rode it.It was torn down in the 70s way before i was born. My dad rode it. Anyways looks good in china, but I doubt it has much airtime, athough its fast.
@slosprint5 From what i've heard, El Toro is one of the most comfortable, smoothest, intense wooden coasters of all time, and is widely regarded as one of the best coasters in the world, so it obviously has something going for it.
good ride!
@MEareCAT Smooth does not equal good, and while El Toro may have more intense forces, it never achieves that true out of control feeling. Don't get me wrong, it's still a great ride, but it doesn't compare to many other wooden coasters out there. My personal favorite is Boulder Dash, huge props to GCI for re-tracking it, it is a better ride now than it ever was before.
that looks really smooth for a woodie
@ruben12268 it has an underbanked turn at the very beginning right after the pre-drop.
I literally screamed my way through this video oh gawd
This Coaster Opened since Jul 19 2011
@slosprint5 Have you been on El Toro?!?! The turns at the end that are close to the ground have crazy laterals. The pacing on that ride is also top knotch. In fact, it feels like the ride barely slows down.
How many seconds of airtime?
@xtremespeed128 Technically yes, but they do have quite a different "on-ride" feel to them.
Love the ride, but I bet the Voyage is a better layout with the tunnels and 90 degree corners.
Now THAT'S what I call a wooden coaster!!
@SuperTkdkid I know, that's why it looks so epic. :D
That's awesome! Too bad I'll never ride it :(
@D3Andr3 El Toro in new Jersey is a prefab, which next to no laterals, much slower pacing, and absolutely none of that true "wooden coaster feel" I would pick this over El Toro any day
@komilatte It is supposed to be like that. It gives the riders airtime.
That is a big GCI!
What is the top speed on this thing? It looks like a speed demon.
I guess this is China's version of BEAST
NICE.
they really thought "wood coaster" was a really creative name that would draw people in
@MEareCAT Yep, that's what GCI always does! =)
holy fuck thats a lot of trees
cuando lo vi solo dije wow
el costo de esta montaña rusa lo que halla sido valio la pena
diseño inteligente
Can't wait Robb Alvey's pov of this.
Incroyable !
Comment faire mieux ?
Perso , j'en bave !
this must be the best wooden coaster in the world, to bad its so far away!
This is the Chinese equivalent of Boulder Dash.
I think we don't have any word to describe this.. *_*
So I suggest to creat the adjective "Mountain-Flyer".
i.e. "Whoa, this is a lil' bit Mountain-Flyer at some point!" or "Oulala, this is huge, insane, great, and even a little Mountain-Flyer!"
(Nota: Nothing can be totally Mountain-Flyer except Mountain Flyer itself)
I've tried this COOL! :DD
LUCKY!!
#Givechinesegcisattention
This coaster uses "Steel" Wheels so it can keep the speed going.
I don't think this roller coaster was named after the Mountain Park Flyer. I think it's just a coincidence.
SO MUCH AIR!
they work for intamin or gravity group
Alex Prindle sorry for being 4 years late. GCI is their own company that exclusively makes wooden coasters for all markets.
China?? Damn, it's not fair lol why must something this epic looking be so far away?
Also this and Wodan...cool to see GCI branching into larger coasters
This coaster looks like you're going waaaaay too fast over speedbumps. WANT
Now there's 4
this looks tame compared to el toro @ six flags new jersey. this looks faster with less air time.
um? 1 dislike? what are you? some kind of monster?
AMAZING I WANT ONE IN AMERICA
The Voyage.
4 Dislikes?!?
How can a person not like a roller coaster?
If he/she doesn't like it, then don't waste your time and don't watch it. It doesn't take rocket science to figure it out. ,':U
OMG OMG OMG I HEART GCII 4EVER!!! =D
they need to redo son of beast
I'm starting WWIII over this.....
Oh god... China is more near for me with this marvel...
It' a little slow to me..... Try this one.
youtube KENNY NASH "DESIRE"
droooooooooooooooooooooooooooooool
Pepper
dang. this bitch picks up speed!
I personally like Apoclipyse at SFMM.
Jaw=dropped
there is a languid sense of sadness and meekness here....I am reminded of the china camps all around california during the gold rush...the china man is of a different spirit than us, we have much to learn from his ways and sense of place
john iorio The china man is not the issue here, Dude.
Stephen Its ALWAYS the issue....I can see you are a small- minded pea brain...probably one of those kids with the baggy saggies, and ball cap turned backwards.....stick to simple topics and posts, you'll be fine!
Actually I am an old 40 year old who was wondering why you were posting social issues on a pov video of a roller coaster. I thought I'd quote a movie and wasn't try to offend. Thanks for being small minded enough to judge me though !
Stephen Why not post social issues???? I'd really like to know why not, and why that is too much for you to put up with?? Also why not judge you?? Your response was negative at the very least, I would say...youtube is wide open for any p.o.view.....its the 40 year old who started the back- asswards cap fad.....back about 20 years ago, now they have "grown up" and act all stuffy and conservative and such.....hah, hah, the chinaman laugh at such western horseshit
Man, I said I'm sorry for joking, what more do you want ?!?!
wow. again. this is getting almost predictable, stupid gcii, youre too good.
i not scared by this ride.
but what i scared is MADE IN CHINA
