I feel like the concept car will be much quicker than the IRL car. The IRL car gotta be set up so that novices can drive it. This will hurt the performance and F1 car is set up for pros.
3.24 is the qualifying time done by Kevin Estre with the Porsche 963 while 3.14 was the best ever time at Le Mans done by Kamui Kobayashi, so theoretically 499P Modificata would be at a LMP1 level and might be able to beat that record again 👀

À LMH can’t beat a lmp1, ( watch the LMP1 of 2009-2012 the speed is crazy but the aero can’t support the speed of car in speed turn. ( 908 HDI FAP + good aero = 3,20,000 lap time in Lemans track )

A lot of people forget that the old LMP1-H cars were actually not that fast on the straights. Modern Hypercars reach similar or even higher top speeds than them despite the 300 or so less hp. People also think that, just becase the TS050 did a 3:14.790, that LMP1 cars were always that fast, when they weren't.... The 2016 Audi R18, it's fastest time in qualifying was a 3:22.780, that's just 2 tenths faster than the 2023 pole by the 499P. That's a bit of an extreme example, but lap times usually were on the 3:19's or 3:20's, even on qualifying, that 3:14.790 in 2017 was a particularly phenomenal lap. So yes, it's pretty safe to assume that the 499P Modificata could beat the old LMP1 cars, especially the R18.

@@paulreilly3904 It is mostly due to the straights given LMP1 cars were quite draggy, whereas Hypercars aren't. LMP1 cars are all about the corners, hence why on a more normal track, the distance is so large. For example, in Bahrain, the pole lap in the LMP1-H era was around the 1:39 range, while in the Hypercar era, it has been around the 1:46 range. That's a gap comparable to the one at Le Mans even though it's a much shorter track, which indicates that LMP1 cars were really fast on the corners, but faltered on the straights.
@@Starfire_Stormthe lmp1 hybrids were NOT draggy, the current cars have worse aero figures. Drag and downforce aren't as good as lmp1. The reason for lower top speeds in lmp1 was the fuel flow allowance. They used the hybrids for extreme acceleration, then lifted about 150m-200m bedore the chicanes on the Mulsanne straight. This was to not go over the allowed amount of energy and flow. If you looked back at the non-hybrid lmp1s at the time, they were capable of 350+kmh (the BR Engineering BR1, look it up).

What's the setup for the car to make it the 499P Modificata? I know the car model and physics are from VRC with a modified engine sound. But in the setup, what has been changed?
What I don't get: Why do they shift down one gear after another? When the driver knows, he will eventually go down to 2nd gear, why not skipping all the gears inbetween and go straight from 5th to 2nd gear? Wouldn't that be faster? That is what I do. Kick the clutch, breaks on until I am slow enough for the apex of the turn, shift down to the gear needed and then release the clutch. So shiftung down from 5th to 2nd gear actually happens. Why don't they do it with race cars?

That wouldn’t be faster at all lol Engine braking is a thing FYI. Relying solely on the brakes rather than a combination of engine braking and disc braking will 1) wear them down a lot faster 2) will heat them up a lot faster 3) will increase stop distance, which is definitely what you don’t want when racing. No professional race car driver does this, and for good reason.

Is 499p mod as fast as lmp1? It's not real. Lmp1 cars are more powerful, have less weight and better aerodynamic , better suspension, brakes. This competition is unrealistic
Lmp1 cars don’t have better aero, they are more draggy and have less softer tires, suspension and breaks are also improved, it’s not unrealistic, the car is just simply unrestricted
Brakes and suspension aren't really better. Everything else might be but ultimately, they are more draggy, which hurts speed on the long straights and the LMH cars don't have to lift and coast in corners like LMP1 cars do.
Despite its overall 200 kilograms heavier than the LMP1 cars , the hypercars still managed to have similar aeros than the LMP1 cars, so I think overall the hypercars have more aerodynamic, cause think about it, if hypercars were to weight as same as the LMP1 cars, it might out perform them in the corners
Do you really know the regulations of hypercars? According to them, hypercars have a drag/downforce ratio of 1/4. Lmp1 cars have 1/6 - 1/7. Lmp1 had better suspension because all 4 wheels were connected, unlike hypercars. Breaks are similar, but lmp1 had mush more powerful hybrid system which helps car to slow down

Aerodynamic, suspension, hybrid ststem wasn't improved in 499p mod. So it must be slower than lmp1 cars.
