Wrapping up this build since you are moving on to the new motor/turbo. Maybe you could do a video summarizing what you learned from the stock motor build and give your recommendations for someone picking up an MK7/7.5 fresh and provide your upgrade path if aspiring to get to the 600whp level on stock motor with as few mistakes as possible. What parts and tuning would you suggest if you want to do it right the first time. Add in your considerations for if you plan to stop at stock motor vs if you planned to eventually go built motor how (if any) differences youd take in your mod path. I think ppl would find this super helpful as a means to consolidate all your learnings to this point. For all us analyticals out there we appreciate the data you are sharing!! Love the spreadsheets!
i can for sure make a short summary video on what is best on the platform for a max effort stock motor build. maybe i can add that to the built motor video that ill be putting out shortly just want to finish up on tuning to really give more details etc. making up a spreadsheet to include a mod path for stock motor/end and then stock motor/built motor is for sure something i can work on.
@@SportyMk7 that would be awesome. Seems like that TPC770 was hard to beat. As you sit down to begin to compile a parts list having a proven mod path saved a lot of time, money and hand wringing. I see people with a mix match of parts that have various limitations. When you look at your previous setup and you are the attention to detail you begin to understand why it worked so well. It wasn't by accident.
Where are you located? What was the DA when you dynod, and what was the correction factor? Very informative on your setup, and thank you for the bookmarks.
Very nice build man. I kept my 17’ R dsg pretty mild, making about 415-430 wheel at 29 psi. Its my daily daddy car though, it stays on all season tires and deals with all weather, so i didnt want to go full send on it. You have an awesome build for a street monster
Nice set up, how come Do You have a tpc 770 on a stock block 🤔 any idea on what's the full wheel power potential of this turbo? I'm actually running a Venom550 hybrid,10.6 on the 1/4.. about 540 whp @ 35psi..
i choose the 770 due to the compressor mapping aligning with the parts i was throwing at the car. Having worked with Both of TPC smaller turbos i knew where this one would end up power wise and what i needed to make it work. also, 540whp should be a 133-134 trap. if youre not doing that, then you hp number is wrong.
You run a Stage 3 motor mount, Stock trans mount, and stage 2 Pendulum insert? Did you do this purposely or it was stuff you had laying around? Wouldn't you get heavy Vibrations now transferring to the trans side?
No particular reason why I left the trans mount alone. Ive done some testing and with the motor side being solid almost the trans doesn't walk in any particular direction. It does have some vibration in the car but nothing to the point of annoyance.
Are you making that power on E85 or pump gas? What is your hp/tq numbers on 91-94 pump gas? What rpm does the TPC 770 turbo start to spool? Love the build.
e85, should have mentioned that. I don't run 91/93 so no power figures there. my best guess would be somewhere around 460-480whp. TPC770 can spool as soon as 3500rpm depending on requested boost levels.
Hey man I’m just curious for a mk7 gti would you reccomend a tpc20/ vortex or a tpc38/vortexxl for roll racing? Assuming full supporting mods and ethanol*
All that depends on the car. Bigger turbos require more rpm, but also have the ability to yield higher hp ranges. If you’re having a tough time choosing, just go with a TPC25 is in the middle of a “small” and “big” hybrid turbo. Many people have been mid 7 60-130 with those.
Quick questions, Why install W/meth before the turbo (on the intake tube) and not in the meth bung on aftermarket charge pipes? Also E85+ w/METH for its cooling effects and NOT for power gain via new tune How much hp loss you think? What about just distilled water ?
pre turbo meth will atomize better than on the throttle pipe. its also cooling the air right off the turbo, colder air going in and coming out. the amount of effort needed for meth even just cooling isn't worth it. you'll gain maybe 5-10whp for the price. Majority of the time you can find 5-10whp somewhere else for cheaper.

440wtq is usually the limit. Better way to look is at intake manifold pressure. Anything above 34psi at the manifold is “pushing” it in most people’s eyes. I’ve been able to hold 40 for months with no issues on previous cars.
@@SportyMk7 Thanks, i was expecting it to be those sort of torque figures at the crank and not the wheel. Mine is currently about 404lb ft at the crank. Not sure what the loss is on this AWD to calculate that at the wheels
@SportyMk7 I'd be curious how that's plausible. In the old days (15 years ago) it was 20% for a slushbox auto, and 15% for a manual. Even a DSG can't be more efficient than manual so I always just assumed them to be equal. I could be way off though.
I never see anything over 1, acceptable is "knock" on boost onset. if you're getting timing pull on mid gear WOT then you should address it. A large majority of the time its hardware. A good spark plug and gap can go a long way.
