    I think I'd prefer if they focused their time and energy less on slight boosts and QoL changes to his kit, and instead attempted a large overhaul of his kit. Hydroid along with Zephyr have abilities that are outdated in terms of overall *design and concept.*
    Adjusting values isn't going to change that.
    Even if that would *shrink* the over-all size of the rework and not be as pretty to show on patch lists, I still think it would have been a much better solution.
    Oh, and it also woulda helped if they showed us progress on the rework as it was coming along instead of just dropping it into our laps. No clue what possessed them to go from showing rework progress (Limbo) to not showing anything, but maybe the backlash will teach them a lesson.
    Here's hoping Zephyr fairs better.

      Triburos Honestly he was just nerfed, his 3rd and 4th got their range reduced to absolute shit, and the 4th is "supposed" to be old range when fully charged, but its not nearby the old range, and what we are supposed to do is use his 2nd to drag enemies around wich is VERY inconsistent, and then cast either 3 or 4.
      His 3rd is just dull and booring, locking us in place (since movement isn't an option with enemies leaving the puddle) and hoping the enemies drown to death faster than our energy drains.
      His 4th used to have some use with the augment, but because of the range nerf it is VERY hard to use because we always have to charge it, and thing is, some tentacles can spawn outside of the tileset you are playing in, and they are also very buggy.
      His 1st is and was good, but I hate the charge mechanic for his 1st and 4th, as for the passive, absolutely horrible.
      His prime variant looks too good for what he does honestly, and I'm scared for my baby girl Zephyr, because if they ruin her 3rd and her passive, they are really lossing it.

      The Nirow the problem isnt that he might do A SHIT TON of damage it's that you literally are a PUDDLE, oh yeah I know what was missing from Half Life 2 a mode were you turn into a puddle to kill enemies it's not fun just staying there and even if you can move why, just turn into Ash who actually (surprisingly) is more fun then Hydroid

      The best damage frame in the game: so long as you hide your fashionframe, disable your weapons, reduce all speed to a slow crawl, drain energy the entire time while also draining it on movement with heavy penalties, become invincible, deal scaling damage based on how long you stay in puddle form with all of the downsides I listed. There are so many ways to have made it better.
      For example: making the puddle a press to cast at location, hold to turn into puddle and control it like we do now. Other examples include:
      -Making the Wave his new roll and getting rid of his current shitty passive
      -having the Kraken fucking do ANYTHING
      -change up the puddle so we aren't forced into using a pretty underwhelming ability

    Thing is, there are players that actually play him and enjoy him, and suggest logical changes to the kit he already has. Then there are players that dont really play him, but still have opinions on what should change, which is usually everything. DE definitely listens to the community. Just not your section of it. They certainly listen to players that actually like how he already was though. I'll share a post from a very obvious hydroid main from a year ago on the wiki.
    "All he needs are QoL fixes. Make his 1 1-handed or increase its casting speed, make the changes to the 4 that you said, and make 1 and 4 castable while in undertow. Much easier to program than a full rework i'm sure, and would safely carve him out a niche while increasing survivability. "
    That was from december of last year. DE definitely listens to the community. Just not people that dont like what they did in the first place and want a complete overhaul.

      It would take a lot longer to program, but it would honestly be worth it. Increasing his appeal to everyone instead of just those that currently enjoy him is a good thing. Plus, we already know they can change up movement abilities, so what's to stop them from doing something like "Tidal Surge is his new roll function. Range reduced to compensate, still effected by duration." "Puddle is now a tap/hold ability, with tapping creating an undertow pool at the closest available ground near your crosshair location, and holding it turning you into the pool as it currently applies." "Puddle and tentacles are moved down a slot due to the loss of tidal surge from the ability kit, and the Kraken is the new ultimate. It does [stuff]."
      That would give him all of his current abilities, retain his current kit that *SOME* people like, and change him up significantly so that the rest of the community wont necessarily feel like "This is Hydroid just shiny. So a Shiny turd."

      The Ammo Store give him free invincibility and cc on a roll while giving him EVEN MORE chokepoint management tools? Most hydroid players agreed on healthy buffs for him to keep up with the rest of the cast. And we got exactly what we wanted. Everyone else are bunch of random ideas entirely determined by the individual players likes and biases.
      Hydroid is actually already very strong as is, putting more time into him when all it will do is make some ppl like him more and some dislike him more is pointless. There are over 30 frames. Not all of them need to be universally liked.
      Frames get moves gutted when a game mechanic turns their move obsolete (excal and super jump) or when their kit is intrinsically broken (limbo having 3 of the exact same moves with no cc). Literally every other remake for healthily designed frames get QoL changes and kit synergies. Nothing on hydroid was outdated or nroken. So he falls in the latter category

      You're right, people's ideas on how to make a frame better are based on their own opinions. It's almost like people's opinions, are people's opinions. Funny how that works. And no, not every frame has to be universally liked, but it's a good to aim for every frame being a decent percentage of the community's favorite. If every frame was equally splattered around at 1/30th of the community's favorite, that'd be fucking perfect. That'd be golden right there. Because then, in theory, every person's second and third and fourth favorite frames would all, also, be at about 1/30th in terms of popularity percentages.
      He's strong if you're willing to reduce your enjoyment from 'flashy third person shooter with a perpetual powertrip' to 'watching numbers bounce on the screen.' The puddle is not anywhere near fancy, flashy, or at all aligned with the gameplay style of the game. Note how almost every single ability in the game that locks you in place, or reduces mobility, or takes away from the flashy shooty nature of Warframe is frowned and hated on. The only exceptions that come to mind at the moment are Ivara's Prowl and Inaros' Scarab Armor channel. Likely because an infinite stealth that lets you shoot and gives you extra loot is a bit much without a drawback and Charging up extra armor and a heal for the frame with the single highest health pool in the game would be a bit much if it didn't make you exceptionally vulnerable while preparing.
      A) learn the difference between synergy and dependency. Synergy would be if hallowed ground stripped armor slowly, and Reckoning was a good way to keep enemies on the ground. Dependency is needing hallowed ground to be in effect for reckoning to strip armor. B) We live in a time and in a game where reworks such as Excalibur's exist, where they took out one ability and gave us another which is one of the greatest currently. Why do we have reworks in this game where the one ability that turned everyone (not including his very small cast of happy users) off Hydroid, Undertow, gets the most amount of focus and updating? On top of all of this, how is he any better than Vauban? They share a very similar niche role, yet Vauban is much more engaging and entertaining, and all of them are some variation of 'throw thing.'

      Umm... you do know that mesa is one of the most popular frames in the game right? The frame with a near unused 1, 2 set it and forget it buffs, and then... wouldnt ya know it? A move that locks you in place and has you clicking on things. The only difference mechanically, being that mesas peacemaker is burst dps for starchart-sortie level enemies, and undertow is a DoT that scales against anyone of any level. If your argument is "well it doesnt look cool" He has 3 other awesome looking moves, all of which he can use in puddle. Have you seen mesas kit? Its as bland as white bread until you get to peacemaker. There's nothing flashy about it. A swirly ribbon? a feint aura? And this is one of the single most popular frames in game. Not to mention, playing from puddle isnt even the optimal way to play hydroid until enemies hit around level 200. Like i said. People that hardly play him form opinions but dont even really know what their doing.
      A) I'm not really into the semantics game. Its petty, and doesnt lead to anywhere. By definition, its only dependency if you dont see the value of the individual moves independently. If you can appreciate duration based radiation aoes, knockdowns by themselves, its synergy. So please dont force your semantics game on me. I'm not here for that, and i've seen through that argument a long long time ago. Its only valid if you're intrinsically negative and dont see any redeemable value in a move.
      B) I already touched on why excal got an extra move. Parkour 2.0 happened, rendering his super jump entirely obsolete. Mark my words. Zephyr will get a new move when she's reworked as well. And its never a single move that "turns off" the community from a frame. If that was the case, you'd see no one playing trinity, or ember, or chroma etc. Ppl didnt like him because he "doesnt do damage" (untrue) and he has "inconsistent cc" (also untrue). Ppl not liking the puddle was just the cherry on top.
      I've also had the vauban vs hydroid debate many times.
      1)deployables vs infinite cast range
      2) low damage vs infinite scaling
      3) Squishy with no forms of defense outside his cc vs One of the tankiest non-tanks in game with 2 invincibility moves that are also cc.
      4) CC negated by ancient disruptor (no counter) vs CC only negated by ancient healer (countered by radiation/nyx/loki/oberon)
      5) Needs power strength for both the cc on bastille and the armor shredding on minelayer vs Needs no power strength for his cc, but needs augment to shred armor
      6) CC is eliminated by nullifier bubbles vs CC eliminates nullifier bubbles
      7) Always vulnerable unless protected vs. Able to cast cc while invincible.
      The question isnt how is he any better than vauban. If anything, it should be how is vauban better than him? In which, i could answer that as well. But the answer is much simpler. The combination of vortex with concussive mines, and Bastille making for easy headshots. Its pretty competitive between the two of them.

      So its better to leave major mechanics that the vast majority (90+% I'd say) of the players either hate or finds unappealing and terrible to use , to the point of never touching the frame, in favour of very few % playerbase who actually find the mechanics acceptable or fun to use? I don't think so. This also actively hurts their sales too. Far more people will buy prime if the frame is fun to use. I don't care how good the frame looks if its shit to play.

      So what? Did you not play hydriod before? Did you not see any of the builds for him? This is a buff. People built him for negative range anyways. This is better because it makes him more consistent. It also means people don't have to build for negative range anymore, they can do other stuff now.

    Speaking of focus Unairu's Armor bonus would be alot more useful if it was a static bonus, instead of a precentage bonus which doesnt help any of the low armor frames like Zephyr and Banshee.

      And imagine if Unairu skill like, did an AoE over-time pulse that petrified enemies and placed a like, stacking amount of set "overhealth" a la Rhino's Iron Skin, on every ally per pulse? like 4 pulses, 200 health per pulse or something like that. Succesfully CC's all the enemies around you for breathing room (without the need to shoot every single one with the bodyblocked beam) and also gives allies like up to 800 stoneskin (that can be represented by a minor visual) that needs to be destroyed before they take HP damage again. After it's gone, they still have the permament static bonus armorbuff as you say, which is fairer on low-armor frames (benefits greatly) and high-armor frames (benefits, but diminishing returns are in effect so it doesnt even really matter if it's better than the current +% amounts) making them harder to kill. Have the overhealth be overwritten by Rhino's Iron Skin and Nezha's Warding Halo, and ta-daa!
      Unairu is less of a complete piece of shit.
      Hell, if they ever add shield gating it would increase noticably in value! Thoughts?

      They fixed that now. Tentacles move slower when they grab enemies and still do the same damage. Enjoy!

    Unless they fix the ''Tidal Surge not dragging enemies while in Undertow'' bug(it's gotta be a bug), 90% of the arguments about Hydroid are always about ''His puddle can kill lvl 100 enemies .''
    Undertow is pretty much Crimson Dervish now .

    I don't even have hydroid but I don't get why his puddle isn't a range cast type ability where you can cast it on one enemy and instantly pull that one enemy into the puddle and have it naturally yank enemies into itself when it comes into range. I like the idea of the warframe and the puddle being separate entities all together but allowing them to merge together when needed by letting hydroid enter and exit that puddle when ever(recast to enter recast to exit). they could make it where once you cast your puddle it's in that spot for a fixed duration of time (unless you move it while inside of course) but casting it again while it's active will consume a small portion of energy to teleport you back inside your puddle. thus you could move around outside of your puddle do damage to the enemies and stay mobile but if you take to much damage you can nope the fuck out and go back into your puddle to heal WHILE YOUR PUDDLE PULLS IN ENEMIES BY ITSELF. having to pick individual enemies to pull in is a complete waste of time and interrupts the fluidity of game play (P U N I N T E N D E D) while you're healing or chilling inside you're puddle you should be able to move it much faster as it is now. (amount of movement and speed of movement=amount of energy consumed for you know "balance")
    okay his tidal surge move would actually work pretty well with the previously said set up. example:
    cast your puddle simulator on target, target falls into the puddle, surrounding enemies are CC'ed by the puddle and pulled in. continue to move and do space ninja robot type shit and DPS enemies while your puddle crowd controls, nearly get your shit pushed in by a heavy gunner, cast your puddle again to nope the fuck out to your puddle so you can heal, maybe said heavy gunner is way out of the range of your puddle? so you hop out of your puddle turn into your little baby tsunami and hunt that fucker down and drag her and any surrounding enemies behind you back to your puddle where it will yank them in.
    tempest barrage is a pretty easy fix in my eyes. You can have it to where just tapping the cast would give you your random shit storm of intense rain OR you can hold the cast and enemies that your cursor/crosshairs pass over become "marked" and the barrage will specifically target that enemy or enemies allowing you to choose between crowd control or high value target DPS.
    oh if his fourth ability is this almighty kraken then why the fuck doesn't it move? let it behave like an actual summon and wonder about on its own to cause havoc and pull agro.
    give puddleman synergy, make him less boring, make him viable ffs.
    as of right now I much rather stick my hands into a woodchiper then grind for this frame. I just want a reason to WANT this frame.

    oh wow. I guessed 18, and it was 16. I am both impressed that I got so close and disappointed that my guess was so close. 3 years later, seeing how hyped this was, this feels bad. I still want the monster man to do SOMETHING other than "tentacles slapping? alright, work's done here."

    I think DE just loves to make the excuse of working on a big update, then skims out on everything else. I wish they gave him completely new abilities or just changed his 3 and make his 4 be an actual ultimate. Just thought about it- like a pirate crew made out of water with scimtars in hand, then rushes at the enemy to knockdown enemies by running into them or hitting enemies and getting a slash proc! This takes time but at least keep the community updated on the little changes. I didn't even know he was getting a rework! They could have been working on this if they knew they were going to release Hydroid Prime next!

    they should've added the sea monster to undertow and make it grab enemies and drag them down while doing alot of damage. Or, even better, they could've changed undertow to make you control the monster and you can grab enemies and pull them down while an area around the fish is made into the undertow puddle

    How to rework Hydroid properly:
    Make Undertow a placeable ability where you are putting down drowning traps around you with a duration timer.
    Make Tentacle Swarm turn you into the Kraken that will passively grab enemies with the tentacles that spawn around you while also giving you the option to move (either slowly at a small cost of energy or with Tidal Surge) and pull enemies into the Kraken's mouth by clicking on them.
    Seriously, all you need to make Hydroid great is just some mechanic swapping between his 3rd and 4th ability.

    seems like someone didn't watch the devstream showing hydroid prime's rework, along with the change to his 3 that enables him to pull enemies into his puddle and you can use his abilities while your in his puddle, or I missed that part you touched upon that

    Props to Brozmine for informing me on this, turns out the reduction of range actually make his abilities combo together with corrosive barrage 1 ability and his 4. Not sure about the mods to put it, but thats what I got so far so im not mad.

    So basically they shouldn't have called this as a "rework", as I'd like to summarize this "scandal".
    Some things I'd like point out / correct in relation to Hydroid "fine-tuning / updating":
    1. The "Kraken"-model is not new: This very same or a brethen is swimming inside the "floor-aquarium" found in "Helminth-room"; it just isn't fully surfaced during the ability-casting.
    2. One the most important unannouced change to "Tentacle Swarm" was that now tentacles prioritze targets in the middle of "area-of-effect" instead of the edges; with the "charge-mechanic" implemented to adjust the power-range, there now pretty much zero-reasons to run anything but max-power-range build as Hydroid (especially thr case of "Pilfering Swarm"-players).
    (( Also, the power-ranges are the same as before in practice; the numbers the in-game-lists are very misleading / not correctly adjusting.
    Thanks DE for "suing" data-miner(s); you have only made this even more "cryptic", again... ))
    Yes, I again agree that it is odd they also called this general update as a "rework". Though granted at least the special-effects and certainly have taken a lot of re-work, seemingly (seriously though, kudos for making this good water effects).
    Granted also, I kind of wish the "Kraken" could be a some sort of "pet-ability" in the future. Though we already have "Octavia" so there could some balancing-problem initially...
    It's still worth pointing out, no matter how trite this is, that especially now saying "Hydroid is trash" is simply, well, a very trite subjective-opinion (especially when these opinions are lacking any details...).
    But then again I am one of those "anti-trite" people that seemingly has an ability to turn "trash" (still) into "godlike" (E.G. "solo-Synoid Simulor") and vice-versa (E.G. "Tigris Prime"), most of the times...

      I personally have different builds for different situations, even if the differences are minimal:
      "Cookie cutter"-setup of mine is to have both max-power-range (250%) and "Rejuvenation".
      After this it all depends on the situation / mission:
      - "Non-Infested"setup obviously has the "Corroding Barrage"-augment-mod alongside adding as much duration with reducing the range.
      - "Farming"-setup(s) has power-strength at minimum of 100% to insta-kill all the weakling-mobs, thus guaranteeing the second-loot(-chance)-roll with the mobs that when just "looked at the general direction".
      Aura-mod is either "Rejuvenation"(+only "Fleeting Expertise) or "Loot Detector"(+"Streamline") depending on if someone else in the squad uses Rejuvenation.
      Fair mention, that I've yet to get the Primed-version of Hydroid, so there could be further adjustments to my mod-setups within few weeks (I personally have only used a single forma on the normal-variant-Hydroid).
      But the "basics" should stay kind of the same.

    3 years later and he still hasn't had another major update. Yeah, I like Tempest Barrage and Tentacle swarm a lot, but Undertow is *boring* to the point that i only use it as an invincibility button. I love hydroid, and he's not in a terrible place, but i really wish he could have his passive, 2, and 3 changed to make the rest of his playstyle more active and mobile.

    You guys complain about QoL changes, but they are all he needed. He is one of the best CCs right now and is also a great tank. A good hydroid is better than any ember.

    There was no input by the community? Wow, yeah, lets ignore the posts asking for a rework on Hydroid :) I passed some time checking those posts up in the forums alongisde petitions for Limbo, Oberon and Zephyr. So saying there was no input by the community is completely wrong. While yeah the announcement about when it was going to be released and that they were even working on it was not given too much focus on at least they were hearing up the requests about rework in the forums.
    Go check the forums once in a while.

      no input mid development of the rework, we had literally no idea what was being done or if any community suggestions were gonna make it into the rework
      they never said "oh we plan to do this and that" or "we listened to you and we are gonna add this to the rework!"
      then we get an imagine of hydroid with a pet kraken out of the blue! people start guessing and making even more suggestions, but we still had not idea of what was being done
      and when the revisit/rework comes, its mostly centered around his most boring ability(good, but still boring) + QoL changes and the pet kraken is purely visual.... yeah.

    hydroid is now one of the best dmg dealing frames in the game that can on top of that also draw extra loot out of the enemies and his kit has a lot of synergy. I dont know why the rework should be trash the only thing is that his playstyle maybe is not appealing to everyone but hydroid was alwas a frame that camped in one spot and spamed his abilities.
