I KINDA get the "Engineer" label in how he was designed for heavy defense and literally named after a french engineer who worked on the Bastille. However, it still gets awkward with the fact that what we think of as an engineer in games just isn't this.
I love playing protea, and while her kit isn’t stellar in the damage department, it does fuel my rivened larkspur *flexes*. In all seriousness though, her kit fits her lore well, even down to her damage types. She worked for the corpus, and slash/heat is super effective vs grineer
To me, Vauban feels like he is an artificer rather than an engineer. Vauban uses a ton of gadgets to enhance his combat capabilities. Protea seems to focus alot more on the combat engineer archetype much more. They're similar but the distinction I think is that Protea invests lots of resources into locking down an area while Vauban locks down the area around him.
Well actually she’s a bodyguard archetype. Vauban is based off some French guy that I spent 30 seconds researching but I digress. Protea is designed to lock down areas and despite gamers refusing to admit that turret does not equal engineer, it makes sense. All of her abilities do, she can protect her client with shield the turret to control the field, the dispensary to keep ammo up and so forth, and of course time reversal in case any unexpected situations occur
Protea has become my favorite, my main. She's just so versatile and usable in almost any situation. Replacing her temporal anchor with sevagoth's gloom also keeps to her time-manipulating theme, while being MUCH more useful.
Protea Tip: use Synth Fiber on your companion and Equilibrium on Protea. You will always be able to pick up health orbs and they will give you tons of energy. Never EVER worry about energy.
This trick also works if you're running in a squad with Protea, Nekros, even Nezha. Also, Synth Deconstruct does supply a decent amount of health orbs, even if you're not running with a frame that generates the orbs. Enough to probably double the amount of energy enemies drop (if you have a weapon on your sentinel that hits enemies consistently).

Vauban is a middle aged retired army engineer that can still kick your ass six ways from Sunday and Protea is his twenty something engineering grad student niece that dunks on all of her peers with her projects. Change my mind.
Thank the gods the devs finally fixed the energy dump of pickups post-4, while in the midst of rewind triggering. Having her back-pathing essentially delet resources su~ucked.
PSA to all Protea players : you can use Synth Fiber + Equilibrium to turn the 200 Health orbs into 220 Energy orbs. Synth Fiber makes you able to pick up Health orbs even when you don't need them, allowing you to benefit from Equilibrium even when your Health is full.
@@internetcampbell2267 Energize has a 15 second cooldown, works only 60% of the time, and only restores 150 Energy more. Equilibrium makes you regenerate at least 220 Energy periodically, not even considering double drops. Honestly it's ridiculous.

First of all, this game, but especially your colorpallet and energy colors look insanely amazing when you're on shrooms. (at least to me) And secondly: I feel like that she is made to be a camp frame. Play survival, find a spot. Spam 3 turrets, hit your 3, spam 3 turrets, hold your 1, spam your 1 in that spot 3 times, hold your 1. Spam 3 turrets. Etc. And you use your 4 either when you need to spam more, pick up loot or need to activate life support
Funny thing about wisp motes they use to only refresh the timer and not take the increase power from a stronger mote, but they did change it to do that very thing so here’s hoping they help out protea
Energy is a fucking myth on protea. Since building got high duration and strength is kinda the thing most people are doing, the dispensary lasts about 45 seconds and vomits out a total of 100 ish energy.

Protea's 4 in a nutshell: It gives you infinite energy, makes you unkillable and nukes the entire room, 6/10.
Vauban is closer to being batman then an engineer, lots of gadgets in his tool belt but can still punch you in the teeth.
You know the beginning clip would of made sense if Protea kicked the Engineer. The model is on the steam workshop.
