Friend of mine fell for one, he sold dumb vitamin supplements, he totally knew it was a scam and never tried to sell to me or other friends.
Basically saw how much he could make from them, only ordering as much as he could afford loosing. Stopped doing it after a bit, said they wanted to promote him to a level above salesperson, but that's when you get involved in some of the actual illegal shit (i.e. when you can't just claim you got caught up in it anymore) and left. Company went tits up a few years later

God damn I dodged a bullet!!! Not Cutco but Vector was the company I was going to get a job with, like sophomore/junior year of high school and needed a job and applied to everywhere. Vector called me 5 MINUTES after I sent my application in. They wanted to meet with me ASAP!!! “We have a great deal on our knives right now! Oh you can make so much money we do commission after (selling said amount) and you basically double your money!!!!” I told my mom I was excited!! She said “ be carful son there are scams with places like that. Your going to have to buy them then sell them.” I ignored it, called the day they wanted me to come in and asked if I would have to buy the knives and the lady said “ well it’s not buying you just need to put a payment down on the knives for insurance incase they are stolen, sold for less or not sold at all.” I said “ you told me I would be selling them not buying. Is this a scheme? Are you stealing from people while they are trying to make money??????!!!” She hung up. That’s when I learned about that shit but it took a few more years before I knew what they were called and how deep they actually go to rip people off like firing them as soon as they “put down insurance” or try to sue the person because they “didn’t meet requirements or was attempting to steal.” Fuck that shit. Worlds Famous Chocolate. YEP. Those cookie things that are similar to WFC that are used through schools, churches and everything else. YEP. You can make money but your making someone else A LOOOOOOOT MORE.

My uncle is gay in his husband used to sell Mary Kay for many years and he eventually got to the point where he won that pink Cadillac it was completely paid off in his and I think they gave him a Year's gas card or something like that.
At my old job we had a guy that thought selling energy vitamin juice pouches would make him rich.He peddled that shit for a whole month then me and another guy explained to him what a pyramid scheme was. He quit that shit the very next day after he went home and researched pyramid schemes. He didn’t make a single dollar during that whole month of selling those things.

I knew a guy who fell for Cut Co. I tried to tell him but he just said to stop being negative so I thought "oh well fuck him then" He lost a bunch of money.
I worked for cutco knives around 2014-15 era and sold a shit ton cause I had sales experience and they kept me on. I quit and then my friend went in for an interview and I was an example in the class about who to be in sales, and how to sell it lol. Terrible product tho tbh
Cutco's model is shady but it's not an MLM because you're not recruiting people under you.

cutco isn’t the same around me. it’s ran through a marketing company and they don’t have to pay for their demo knives, and don’t fire people. still kinda shady but i know for a fact they pay, and don’t make you buy the knives
