8:28 Fun Fact: this guy was the original design for Toph.
yes I'm glad it made her more of an out of the box character I'm glad it made her more of an out of the box character
they originally where it is not even while to be blind
One cool thing about this episode is the foreshadowing at the beginning, where sozin saves Roku, but then lets him fall. He eventually does this, causing Rokus death
Roku being great-grandfather of Zuko reveal at the end is so good. Best twist in the show. It also adds so much to the Zuko's character and his so called "destiny". He always thought he only has one path thats why it was so hard for him to give that up or change that. But knowing this changes a lot for him. And also explains the dragons in his dream more. We just thought they were representing Azula and Iroh. But they were actually representing Sozin and Roku's conflict in Zuko.
A great detail is that anytime Zuko talks to iroh in prison is that the prison bars are only shown in front of zuko, and not in front of iroh. It simbolizes that even if iroh is the one in jail, zuko is the one that is truly trapped in this battle within his mind
7:58 he's from fire nation. We've already established that it's hard to master the opposite element. For fire it's water and for air it's earth.
spoilers
in korra we find that it is not always the opposite of the avatar's birth element but the opposite of their personality
If the previous Avatar has died the next one will take at maximum a week to be born.
19:12 It was an arranged marriage by Azulon when he found out that avatar Roku had a granddaughter. He thought if she married Ozai, she could give him strong offspring.
is the a Spoiler for the comics
@lasseehrenreich5502 yup. This is for those who are too lazy to read comics lol.
@@levangiorgadze5842 well that's okay I guess
7:48 bro is gonna enjoy that one episode
4:33 Ayyyy! A man of culture, I see!
I love that Show It Started When I was only five years old and the franchise is still going to this day
I saw a comment on another video about Aang being in the Avatar State at 6:41
They said Aang was “Shitbending” & now I can’t get that out of my head 😂😂😂😂😂💀💀💀
This is the special episode that is the other half of ZUKO's dream I was talking about, when he was trying to find himself, I mean this isn't a dream but like it's for him kind of an extension of when he went into the kind of coma thing and was at odds with himself and it's like the explanation of all of that and I really love how it's done and of the story with his mom and his dad and the previous file Lord and like explaining all of his backstory and giving us context to why he's so different from the rest of his family and showing the parallels between and great grandfather and how his great grandfather may have started the war but he has the ability to end it and merge the 2/2 back together because he's kind of like the bridge since he is from both families he has both sides inside of him, the good and bad, technically sodas Azula but she got all the crazy jeans from her Dad side so I think her good is buried a lot deeper, but Suzuko we've seen he's always been a lot more like his mother always so sweet and kind he was banished.
Also the reason that was so difficult for Roku is because it's his opposite, you know like how earth was so difficult for Aang because earth is the opposite of air well remember Roku is a fire bender so his opposite is water and that's why that was so hard for him to master.
I never thought of it that way before it is a brilliant observation
Please calm down
@@asmodeusguys4472 I don't know what you mean by calm down I wouldn't say anything nasty, I'm sorry if I didn't explain my thing correctly I was trying to do the best job of explaining it it's kind of complicated but basically all the stuff with Zuk is leading to him becoming a good person again and showing that he has both good and bad in him and like when he was in that kind of weird coma he basically was at war with himself which is what Uncle iris is that he's at war with himself and he has to choose and he chose wrong so Uncle Ira was disappointed in him and told him to research about his histories to know that he was actually a descendent of avatar Roku and that because he descendant he's the one that can bring the fire nation back to a world of peace and he can fix the mistakes of his past which is something that avatar Roku said to Aang as well about fixing the mistakes that he made so together Zuko and Aang fix the mistakes that his two great grandfathers made. That's what I was trying to say.
"The Avatar and the Firelord" Oh. Oh boy! Ohhh. I get it. Roku and Sozin.
Happy ween everyone, i forgot to comment earlier.
what
@lasseehrenreich5502 Halloween
@@Ks_Stay_See ok
4:25 Prof Rex... ah yes, the classic rex-men 😂
Ozai had an arranged marriage with Ursa, Zukos mom, because she was the granddaughter of Roku. Comic lore
Fun Fact: Avatar Roku was a Lavabender and died fighting a volcano…the irony.
2 interesting extensions on Sozin and Roku's dynamic: (2 levels of spoiler for the most recent novel in the "Chronicles of the Avatar" series: _The Reckoning of Roku_ )
Mild Spoiler (it's early in the novel):
It was originally Sozin's mother's idea to gift Roku with his Crown Prince hairpiece, but she wanted him to think of it as "a leash, to remind the Avatar where his true loyalty lies" (Sozin rejected this interpretation when she proposed it to him, but thought the gift would be a good idea anyways - a bit of a theme with him)
Slightly more spoily bit ahead:
Not only were Sozin & Roku born on the same day, but so was Roku's minutes-older twin brother, Yasu. Roku & Yasu's clan were affluent, so they were sent to the Royal Fire Academy for Boys alongside young Prince Sozin. Yasu & Sozin were the more rambunctious types whereas Roku was a bit more reserved, and he was worried they were starting to leave him behind. When they were 12 (four years before the Fire Sages would reveal Roku as the new Avatar), Yasu woke up Roku in the night to sneak out & for a swim (just the two of them, as Sozin was on lockdown for accidentally burning some priceless artwork while trying to produce blue flames). A storm was beginning to roll in, and as the water started getting choppier, Roku wanted to go back to shore, while Yasu wanted to see if he could reach the sandbar, saying he'd send up some fire to let Roku know he made it - just as they agreed to split, they were both tossed under by a nasty wave. Roku resurfaced. Yasu was never seen again, his body lost to sea.
One of the best episodes
25:57: Ok, John Wick! XD
18:41 Not So Fun Fact: this is a new voice actor of Iroh, Greg Baldwin. After the death of his original voice actor, Makoto Iwamatsu.
rip Makoto You will never be forgotten
Uh this is a good episode - I do have one question: Are Rokko’s memories purely mental projections or do they exist as sort of a location in the Spirit World - Aang says “we are almost at the Southern Air Temple” if it was all in their mind they could just teleport there. Let’s talk about Sozin - he is voiced by Ron Perlman. I think the best way to sum him up is from a quote from himself “Our nation is enjoying an unprecedented time of peace and wealth. Our people are happy, and we're so fortunate in so many ways. I've been thinking, we should share this prosperity with the rest of the world. In our hands is the most successful empire in history. It's time we expanded it.” Painting him as a tyrant who dilute himself into thinking of himself as a great and benevolent hero that only want “to share their greatness with the rest of the world” Toph asking if friendships can last more than one lifetime is going to have a greater meaning for her - I can’t til you figure it out for your self.
Fantastic episode
yes on of the best for sure
and they were roommates
oh my god they were roommates
Also, besides kickstarting the whole war and the rest, according to TLOK comics Sozin kind of banned same sex marriage.
I don't understand

You know what doesn't make sense to me. How can it be zuko's great grandfather.
When Roku died he was 70 something and his child should have existed. Even if he got his kid at 70 and his kid had to have their kid (Ursa) at 70 for her to be around the expected age ~30 ish when Zuko would be born.
It feels like they missed 1 or 2 generations
Love roku❤
so do i
What did sozin mean by expanding the fire nations perfection.
