I lost a good friend almost twenty years ago and your rationale for changing motorcycles so often reminds me of him. He would go as far a color matching all his riding gear then tweaking the bikes with every farkle and get the bike just right.....then sell it all including the gear.
His reasoning always made sense then two or three months later he would buy a new bike and gear and start the process all over. Yeah I guess one of the biggest reasons I watch your channel is that you remind me of the buddy who passed away.👍👍

The obvious reason would be a BMW Boxer GS. But, maybe you will surprise us. Maybe, you will want somthing more exotic, and dashing, like the Ducati Multistrada, which now works out cheaper than the new GS Boxer 1300. It surely will not be a KTM. It could be a tiger, 900, or 1200, such a comprehensive package. I will still say the GS Boxer 1300.

I've been dreaming about adding the Rally Pro to my stable ever since.

I know you like Triumphs so the comments of a 2024 Tiger are spot on for a guess on your next purchase. I find myself in a similar position as you. I picked up a leftover Yamaha Tracer 9GT late last fall. I have a feeling my Speed Twin is just going to be sitting and I will most likely sell it this year. So many bikes, so little time.

I've been doing some man math too, and I've realized that it gets me into trouble. Having bought 3 bikes in 2023, and already sold 2 of them (SV650, GSX-8s) due primarily to comfort issues, my man math is telling me that I've got to stop dropping dough on bikes. I've watched a load of you tube on the Transalp and I've decided that its boring predictable comfort is exactly what the accountant has ordered. I do like to fiddle, so the Transalp offers ample opportunity for that, and I can ride it anywhere and do some soft off roading if I feel like it. I was riding my GSX-8s like a man possessed, so it will be good to reduce the wrist angle (joke), and know exactly what it is on the Transalp. Thanks for the great Transalp coverage, between you and Dork in the Road and Big Rock Moto, and a test ride of course, I pick up the Transalp tomorrow.

You ended up doing what I did but with a lower budget. I had mt07 that I fully modified and a second bike for trails (crf250l, fully modded). I started to notice that I was enjoying adventure riding more so I decided to keep the mt07 but upgrade from a crf250l to the 390 adv. The idea was to keep a sporty bike and one for adventure riding. The 390 adv had to many issues and I requested a buy back. I was not using the mt07 much so I sold it as well and I bought a vstrom 800 de. For my riding, it fits me very well. I am close to 7,000 miles in 8 months. Love it.

I can really relate to this thread. My issue is space, I live in the inner city, I've got a scooter, a bike (GSX8s) and a car and it all just squeezes into my garage with some strategic angling of machines. When you walk through my garage, it's more of a twisting exercise than I'd like. I'm looking for that unicorn bike also, ideally I'd even do away with the scooter, but that might not be wise.

It's a shame that i'm not going in two weeks on my Twin to Albufeira, but with a car. Would have been fun to say hi to another Twin rider. The Twin is great but my GF has the NC750x and it just is way more relaxed on the highway and off-road. And that's what we're again doing this year with a nice Euro trip in the mountains.
For that reason i'm going to switch to a Suzuki Vstrom 1050 or the 800RE.
NothingToProve has some nice comparisons on his channel, and that helped me narrow down (also after test riding) to these two bikes.

Yeah I have the same issue with rego, insurance etc we have two cars one for towing the other more sporty then we have two bikes one each and that’s enough as it just doesn’t make any sense. Rode my adventure bike without the screen while waiting for a new one would take some getting use to. In the short (around 100km) I have done so far since picking it up yesterday, I can say it encourages a far more relaxed ride. At my age (b 67) I wasn't really exploring the limits of the Speed twin though.
The "only" downside is that this time next year I can see me wanting a 900 GT Pro or Rally Pro (although at 179cm, the 850 sport is approaching max seat height :) )

With it's boxer motor, massive torque, shaft drive and asymetric treatment, it's actually a very eccentric machine and not a boring choice at all. It was such a great little bike, fun, comfortable, enough power for the gravel roads, etc.. the Bonnie became a garage queen. Like RM I think I did about 200 km in two years on it, preferring to always ride the KTM.
