Man seeing that oil slick video of the guy going down. I remember when that almost happened to me. Luckily I was going slow enough to come to a complete stop while going down hill, I was able to feel the back tire slide a bit right before a red light.

Hey guys. On the back roads of Panama City fl a week ago at 2am, had 2 deer run out infront of me from my left. I went as far right as I could, was braking hard. Last deers back right quarter caught my left fork. Bike went off road to the right and I went hwy. Hands and helmet first, slid and rolled to other side and up on my feet..full gear saved me..cracked helmet, gloves, jacket, pants had holes..me, just some red marks and bump on my head..not one scratch. HEY at 13:46 that's less than a mile from my house! I go around it every day. Usually the problem is people cutting the corner inside when I'm coming the other way, not people going wide. It's also the 3rd in a series of decreasing radius corners going in that direction and a LOT of bikes are on this road because it's on the way to Hell (Michigan) and a very scenic and curvy (for Michigan) road. I've seen larger bikes go off into the yard on this corner more than once.
FWIW now that I've been around that corner hundreds of times, I can usually take it at 50 MPH without getting sketchy, but that's a gravel road butting into it so any time it's rained recently it usually has sand on it so you have to be careful unless you've been around it since the last rain.

17:07 ... if you're passing where people are merging, that's where "ride like you're invisible", and "have an escape route" come in. The merging cars might not see you, so don't pull up next to that red car, stay behind it so you can dodge into that lane. Or just go ahead and get left if you can. It's not always possible, but having a buffer lane between you and potential stupidity is a really good idea.

2:30 Lose traction and don't regain it = low side. Lose traction, regain it while the bike is moving in a direction other than what it is aligned will produce the whip/ wobble that can lead to a high side. Unless you're NOT going too fast, and can recover like this guy did.

When you see the oil on the road, is there really nothing you can do? Didn't he slam the brakes? If you're chilling, you do not pull the brake lever and go straight through it, then you do not dump the bike? Or is it inevitable? I do not think so.

Close call on my way to class today- had an SUV try to merge into my lane while I was alongside him on the highway, no turn signal while I was approaching. Sometimes it's the little things that a driver can do which mitigates these hazards, as a 60mph sideswipe was not in my plan for the day.

Idk if I'd call the first one death wobble or not. When I think death wobble, I think of a harmonic being hit at a certain speed / throttle input / etc that causes an uncontrollable front end wobble. If you do the "logical" thing and let off, it gets worse. You have to throttle out of it. It can happen on a perfectly smooth road, it's a front end geometry issue. It's not caused by a road hazard.

The older biker that went down. First he hit oil the bike slipped out from under him he tried to Fred Flintstone it and he crashed. He didn't keep his feet on the pegs. His gear isn't sufficient. Also the rear tire is balled in the center. He put his left foot down when the bike slid. The rear wheel slid left so in order to keep the bike straight is to steer left slightly. Also try to avoid road surface hazzards.

The smart rider principles may sound trivial but if I adhered to them, I would have crash. 23:38 - I saw that too. Car wanted to go around that truck. Dude on the bike rolled RIGHT UP IN his blindspot, and RODE THERE like he's got a fucking magnetic attraction to that goddamn car. Exactly NO reasons to ride there. He accelerated to GET there, then instead of passing the car, he just ... rode in its goddamn blind spot.
TECHNICALLY it's the cars responsibility to check, double check, and make sure there is nobody where he's going ... but the rider was asking for it with that dumbass riding. Bikes are hard enough to see without being in a blind spot.

On my trip to Milwaukee I was in Missouri I think, and I saw a greasy spot coming up, I don't know what time it was but I quit riding not long after that and I stopped at 3:30am. Anyway what happened was, I saw the greasy spot and had to swerve around a piece of something in the road and went right over a large chunk of what I assumed was a deer. I hit it square on and thumped over it at around 70mph and the first thing I thought was I hope there weren't any sharp bones in that roast I just ran over.

You're not superman and invincible or ale to telepathically know what others are fixing to do. You're literally putting yourself into a possible situation each time you do it. It's just unnecessary danger.
