I remember those days when Scout leaders really knew the neighborhood kids...my SM lived behind me !!! I was a Cub and a Scout from 1965 until 1974...I earned my Eagle in 1973...In 1980, I returned as a UC, then was moved up as ADC, soon after that, I was a BSLBT trainer, and soon after that I was asked to be a SM...my volunteer years were 12 wonderful years...I had to step back to take more care of my child's school needs...I am a hard-core supporter of the Scouting Program...God bless all who step up and help out our youths..
Back then, the two-deep leadership was not even in the books...look at the date of the film...1962 !!!!! Even I was not in the Scouting program until 1965 !!! My Troop was so fortunate to have a passle of adults volunteers, we were not two-deep...we were three or four deep in leadership !!!! We had one of the most active Troops in our District ...Adult leadership was all around that Troop....Troop 219 Simonsdale Portsmouth Va Three Rivers District Tidewater Council....established 1943...still going strong !!!
I cannot speak for every man/woman who volunteers their time, but the one who came into my young life had little to no regard for women. He was not what I would call, "a great example" to show a young boy or a girl what a good man should be!
My Troop literally WORSHIPED the Scout Moms !!!! Without their help, there would have been times the Troop would have been in a huge pickle !!!! God bless Scout Moms and all ladies who help support Scouting..
@@haukepowers8491 In the 1960's, women were not welcomed into the realm of the BOY SCOUTS. Not even a Mom. The women could bake the cakes, but they were never allowed to deliver them. That was the job of the Scout Master. I kid you not. It was a sickening good ole boys club "back in the day"!
@@sherrydee7880 sounds like men taking an active role in the upbringing of boys in the community to me. Since, by in large, men have been pushed out of most everything, women have been failing miserably in raising boys to be good citizens that care for the community.
Funny, That is the Democrats to a T, what you described. like how going back as far as the Clinton years, they have marketed themselves as being "protectors" of women, when routinely top Democrats, and their benefactors are caught in sex scandals?
Im an Eagle Scout. Scouting was some of my best childhood memories. Im sad to hear some of the things that have happened to the organization of late

I live about 4 miles from Brownsea Island where the movement started

There is some movie art here. How dark the world outside the meeting room and Scout event. And oh boy, how about two deep leadership.
