  • Today it was hot ! as we set off on another cycling adventure from our home town in the Pennines to the historical city of Chester which lies on the English and Welsh border.
    If you are a keen cycling enthusiast and enjoy watching cycling vlogs then this might be just the place for you.
    My aim is to create inspirational cycling content that is all about telling the story of how the ride went and to keep you the viewer informed of the events as they unfold. With Maps, data, a narration and so much more, I hope you enjoy this video.
    I'm a cyclist and I live in the Pennines.

    Good effort Daz, I remember that Saturday, we went to Lymm, I was all in at 68 miles, stopped at 55 miles at a shop, really didn't want to get back on the bike after that, made it home in the end...cycling can really push you to the limit, I suppose that's why we love it 👍👍 Another cracking video too 👏

      It has been a pretty warm summer all in all and we have managed to get some decent rides in pal but when that sun is out and the temperature is 30+°c it makes your cycling that little bit more demanding. You need to refill two bottles up after 20 miles !
      Maybe we will cross paths out there one day ...

    Top video Daz, and top efforts from you both in that heat. You are very fit and it just shows how the weather can floor anyone, I guess we are are just not used to those temperatures and your video is a great way to show people how to be careful out there as a similar thing happened to me around July time.
    Anyway good to hear you recovered quickly, the route you did was a lot of the areas I like to cycle, Frodsham, Mobberley etc.

      Hi Nick, on some sections going out we were flying and it's a great feeling I can tell you that.
      I collapsed literally half a mile from home 😰. I could not turn another pedal stroke. I was helped by a couple from an adjacent property who spotted me on a grass verge.
      Even people in cars passing by stopped to help. It wasn't pretty, a bit like the Brownlee brothers in the triathlon when one of them couldn't walk across the line without support.
      I asked them for a glass of water with lots of salt in it and a drop of sugar.
      They helped me get home and within half an hour was back to normal. ( a cold shower helped with this process too )
      It was a scary moment for sure.

    • @nickhadden2094
      @nickhadden2094 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Daz and thanks for your reply.
      It sounds really scary what happened and I’m glad you recovered quickly.
      I was wondering if you have ever used a heart rate monitor? The reason I ask is from personal experience, I was not good at pacing myself and pushing too hard at the start of endurance events. Unfortunately, I still think I am half my age when exercising, keeping my heart rate well below 150/min most of the time is useful to know and help me pace myself properly. I also avoid bursts / surges in pace at the beginning of endurance events as this quickly depletes muscle glycogen The heart rate is a good measure of how much metabolic stress you are under during exercise. With muscle fatigue, dehydration and at the hottest time of the afternoon, a large chunk of your cardiac output being diverted to your muscles and an increasing proportion to your skin to keep cool. Your heart rate would likely have been higher than normal when you felt unwell.
      I was wondering if a heart rate monitor would be useful for you? It might give you an early warning, to slow down, take a break, rehydrate, replenish lost electrolytes and carbs?
      Best wishes.

    • @MrDazP1adv3ntures
      @MrDazP1adv3ntures  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@nickhadden2094 I do not use a HRM Nick because I know my heart rate can be on high side at times. It can be triggered sometimes by certain fizzy drinks and I know that I have frequent eptopic moments which I can actually feel.
      The worst moments I find are when I stop off at a shop for example and my heart rate plummets to a heavy slow beat which I am very much aware of.
      I totally agree with what you are saying though but I tend to try to put this to the back of my mind.
