You don't know much about PTSD, do you? Without his experiences in Vietnam, a person wouldn't react in this fashion to pretty much any thing that goes down in the opening act. They clearly show him snapping due to ASSOCIATIONS from Vietnam. No one beats up an entire police station cuz they want to shave him lol.

David Morrell says Rambo kills "perhaps 250 people" in his 1972 First Blood novel.
As Andrew Vajna says here, he didn't want Rambo to be a "crazy murderer"
So they decided to reduce the kill count from around 250 down to 1
This made it much easier for us, as viewers to sympathize with Rambo.

An outstanding movie all the way, but that Viet Nam war was a joke and a slap in the face and kick in the ass to every young American soldier who was shipped over there. I never understood the phrase "Fighting for our country" in that war. North Viet Nam wasn't attacking America or killing Americans. Nothing like Hitler and Japan attacking every country on Earth. They were trying to get their country organized in a way American hot shots didn't agree with. Well, here we are over 50 years later after after loosing the war and needlessly costing hundreds of thousands lives and all seems well today. WTF?????... American hot shots should have kept their noses in their own business!!!

Great film, no question. However, the guy playing Colonel Trautman was ridiculously miscast, and Rambo's monologue at the end was awful acting.

It’s ruined by Rambo and his crybaby speech at the end

even the strongest of men have their weak sides and can feel quite vulnerable when life hits the hardest.
