There is no doubt the Cubitus has Genta rolling in his grave. What a disaster. And Thierry Stern's response to the criticism is the only thing coming from Patek that's worse than the Cubitus.
I couldn't find anything on what Genta thought of snobs but I believe he started from humble beginnings so I reckon he'd be rolling over that part too.
They have tried to play it safe, but just ruined Genta's design. I'm afraid it will be popular, because it will be worn to be seen, that's why it is huge. It isn't about creating an elegant, practical and comfortable time piece. The idea is to create an instantly identifiable piece of male jewellery for men to show off. It is horrible and you are correct Genta would hate it. I'd much prefer a Genta Mickey Mouse watch with retrograde minute hand and jump hour, now that's a watch design!
I like retrogrades, but I just don't have the love of Disney characters for his watches to make sense at those prices. But generally that design is the closest of his I like (well, the Polerouter is decent too, but not a design I like enough to want to buy). Given the thinness I reckon the Cubitus will be comfortable to wear (the lug-to-lug is modest also). But I agree it is designed to hog a lot of wrist presence and thus exists to be seen.
There is a lot of disgrace in this release for Patek for different reasons. But if Nautilus and this were released at the same time, i would like this more. Its personal but I think Nautilus is not at all a good looking watch
I actually am in a similar boat. I really dislike the Nautilus case shape. However, I understand its inspiration and that the Cubitus is just inspired by the Nautilus. So I am quite confident *Genta* wouldn't like it. But of course we do what we want. I actually am not a big fan of most of his designs. I think I may just be too boring for his approach.
Ive yet to see a Genta watch i would consider buying. They look very dated. Im sure they were cool 50 years ago but so were bell bottoms and shag carpet

Good stuff. The dial looks crowded to me. Like they tried to stuff too much into a small space.
Might be due to the small movement being used forcing their hand placement-wise.
