She most probably wasn’t conscious, because if she were, she had a tankful of oxygen that’d keep her alive until Wade went after her to get her, or she would have a whole lot of water in her lungs. Having very little water suggests she wasn’t breathing at all.
As a scuba diver, this was really "woah". I have no words to describe it. Anyway, I definitely believe Gabe is GUILTY. Firstly, as a "rescue diver", he would have learned how to "avoid" these 3 (THREE) dangerous situations. FIRSTLY, Tina's heart condition would require for her to get a medical certificate from a doctor to justify that she was fit to dive. Gabe completely ignored this, so it was a super red flag. Yeah, he does what she likes doing so she "should" do what he likes doing too, but not to the extent of putting her life in danger. SECONDLY, Gabe refused to have a guide. In my experience, I rarely let any divers go without a guide, especially when there is someone as inexperienced as Tina on a dive. Of course, we would "trust" that their buddy would take care of them but Gabe obviously took care of her in a different way. THIRDLY, the extra weights Gabe requested were completely unnecessary. After you reach a certain depth in the water, it would just get very easy to sink even with the regular amount of weights. ///I believe Tina's dad did the right thing going around asking relevant questions to relevant people, because yes, accidents can happen on a dive, sometimes they can be fatal. In this situation, there are many factors that factor into the death of Tina, she could have had an episode underwater and lost consciousness. I HATE how judges can decide what evidence will be allowed in a trial and how often so much that applies to a case is left out for no reason. I believe in order to make an honest and fair decision you NEED ALL the evidence. It so absurd and frustrating
Lol, that was my reaction too. Crushing on ladies who are already spoken for *NEVER* goes well. He needed to take several seats, a step back, a cold shower ... anything other than the actions he took instead.
Yes, I wouldn't be interpreting it as "Isn't that sweet, he can't live w/o me" but that he can't handle rejection and if he won't respect boundaries, he won't respect anything if he doesn't get his way...about everything!
I learned this the hard way. once I said yes to a guy who kept asking for a date, then to be his girlfriend. I wasn't confident enough to say "no and also buzz off", and I didn't want to hurt his feelings. it was my worst relationship so far, I felt relieved the moment I was out of it.
@Vara Lyn Truth! Any man (or woman) who wants you to cheat on another person has no respect for ANY relationship, and that includes if they get into a relationship with you. Anyone who will cheat with you will cheat on you.
What is that this man hated so much about his wife that he defaced her grave by removing flowers. For flowers to disappear immediately after being placed means he was obsessively watching it. What a dark dark mind. I fear for the next woman who would trustingly fall for him and marry him.
A narcissistic sociopath who thinks he's God's gift to women the way he dangled the engagment ring like a carrot stick and so self entitled even trying to claim the travelers insurance for a ruined trip. Talk about the King of Sloppy Premeditation!
@@Peanut_taco_muffin Yes dogs at least have integrity and could probably figure out how to be a little more discreet about committing a crime. He thinks he got lucky getting away with this crime. Exactly! I would bet money that the only reason she took him back was because he was truly scaring her. It happened to my best friend. I tried and tried to help her but she was so terrified she went back.
Ok so in comments we always discuss the tragedy that happens in the story but, like Can we also appreciate how your makeup is always ON POINT?? Like that’s a talent right there
Actually most people DON’T talk about the tragedy of the story in these comments, which is disturbing. It’s why TH-camrs absolutely should not introduce trivial stuff like makeup into true crime videos because it cheapens the tragedy and desensitizes people.
I've been looking for another diver, haha finally......also...getting a sinking diver... isn't anything rescue specific, right? Like of my buddy was sinking I'd go after him? Also going like "I'm soooo experienced" with 55 dives is a bit of a stretch.
I was talking to my husband and isn’t there a flotation device on every dive tank that can be pulled and bring you up to the surface? Like all this guy had to do was pull a string to set off her floatation device and she would be floated to the surface right? Idk I’ve never scuba dove before and my husband has only gone once so we’re definitely not experienced at all lol.
@@madirichardson7952 It's your inflation string (I can't remember what its called lol) on your BCD that will inflate your BCD and can send you shooting up through the water (not recommended lol). She would have had to use it to deflate her BCD to get her into the water in the first place so it's strange she didn't know.
I’m not anywhere close to being a certified diver (only been on 2 dives) but when bailey mentioned Tina had been resurfacing quickly on the other dives in the trip because she was panicking, my mind immediately went to the bends? Could decompression sickness have contributed to her death? I thought I’d ask, because I reckon you’ll know better than me!
After everything Bailey said, poor Tina seemed like she had low self-esteem, which was why she was with Gabe in the 1st place. From the beginning he sounded like an awful partner. She just deserved so much better in life, may she rest in peace.
Right after you teach the students that in a severe emergency, ditch the weights and buoyancy will do the job of getting people to the surface, correct? Although the first rule I was taught was that if anyone is stressed, panicking and/or uncomfortable, you call off the dive, no questions asked and no shame imparted.
@@Kryschenn there will always be people who will push you, but you must understand that if you don't feel safe, you won't be safe and can be a danger to others also! Safe diving you guys! ❤️
That and hearing his issues with the regulator being knocked out of his mouth were huge red flags for me. We practiced how to deal with that so much during training. He should have been fine with that.
Exactly!! Also him claiming to be a rescue diver which would mean he’s well taught with the weights, fresh water and salt water weight difference, and how to bring someone safely to the top. Also divers are equipped with extra oxygen mouth piece for emergencies incase someone’s tank runs out of air or they panic and use up all their air. I’m a open water rec diver and know many rescue divers. A close friend of mine husband is a rescue diver. Another thing is if she kept coming to the surface then why didn’t anyone on the boat insist she stays on the boat or at least on top of the water and snorkel instead??? All divers are equipped with snorkels too.
As a certified diver myself, you ALWAYS have to have a secondary breathing apparatus. He shouldn’t have been panicking if the regulator came off, especially if he took the rescue course.
I don't have very much knowledge of diving & the dynamics of it, but this is what I thought. It just seemed very suspicious that he'd immediately panic, even though he was supposedly a "rescue" diver. Thanks for the insight!
I’m a dive instructor which means I’m able to teach dive students, I’m also a qualified scientific diver and have done some commercial diving. I’ve dived in Aus & live in NZ. 9kg of weight (20 pounds) is way too much especially for a small girl. I use around 9kg+ when I have a super thick wetsuit and I’m diving in 10 degree Celsius water not the tropics. 15 ocean dives is NOTHING. He was very inexperienced BUT someone we teach in rescue courses is how to save someone who is conscious underwater, unconscious underwater, conscious on the surface and unconscious on the surface. The protocol is different for conscious divers as it could put you in danger yourself due to irrational and aggressive behaviour, an unconscious diver gives you no immediate threat or danger therefore there is no reason what so ever not to grab or help an unconscious diver. You learn to grab them in a number of different ways, the most common from behind, drop their weights and hold their breathing apparatus in their mouth. It’s suspish, he knew this and he let her die for sure.
I cannot believe that monster had the AUDACITY to move her body after all he put Tina through. Let alone leave her grave unmarked. I feel so bad for her and her family. I hope she rests in peace
It’s weird it’s almost like narcissists _hate_ their significant other but it’s actually because they feel their s.o. are so much inferior to them. They find pleasure in belittling and disrespecting their s.o. making sure their s.o. know how little they mean to them. It’s so disgusting.
My gut says repeatedly asking someone in a serious committed relationship to go on dates with you is inappropriate and annoying af. Anyone else see red flags at that point?
If anyone is asking anyone out repeatedly without a circumstance change (say break up only after time to get over it is given, or time after just breaking up with a different partner, sexuality/romantic experimentation) then don’t date them.
@@gloriamiles9194 Agreed! This was the first red flag for me. if someone can't respect that someone else is in a committed relationship/ or even if they're not and they can't accept a decline.... something is off.
He shouldve understood how serious heart conditions are especially as a rescue diver which honestly tells me from the start he wasn't concerned for her safety or experience
Red flag one: he kept asking her out WHEN SHE WAS ENGAGED AND HE WOULDN'T STOP Flag two: flipping out on her dating someone else after they broke up Flag three: taunting her about the engagement Flag four: forcing her to start diving Flag five: talking about insurance SMH! He was trouble from the beginning
I think he was doing it on order to distract everyone from something?? Like, ppl said he was giving her a hug while they were diving and he wanted to make ppl around him believe that that's just a thing he liked doing? Or to rub of evidence or something like that idk
Am I the only one who sings her theme song with her??? I get crazy looks while I do it!! I shimmy my shoulders and everything!! It’s like having your BFF tell you a story. Love this. 💕💕
Her scuba diving teacher is an old friend of mine. He now has a talk with his students about why they want scuba lessons and tell any of them (the students) that say their learning so they can do this with friends or their partner this story. She was a sweet girl and the fact that she died because of this man, doing something she did not feel comfortable with, for him makes my friend rather suspish with other people who are learning for similar reasons. Also, for those of y'all wondering. Most of Alabama refuse to have anything to do with him. He and his family have been socially shunned from most places, so he hasn't built much of a "new life"

It makes me absolutely furious that even after he DEFINITELY killed her, he moved her to an unmarked grave for 3 years and stole the flowers left on it. It’s like stripping her of any respect when she’s already dead.
The fact he kept asking her out for years, which was borderline harrassement, should have been a red flag! If your family isn't super thrilled about the person you are with, you should really pay attention bc if the ppl that love you and know you most are saying that something is weird, they are never wrong. And yes, the fact he wanted to be beneficiary was super weird.
He was probably emotionally abusive. The relationship started with him not leaving her alone. I'm sure he made her feel like less of a person. She seemed to not understand the issue of asking her dad to switch over the life insurance. If my dad had a policy and my fiance asked me to ask him to switch it..before we were married. I'd have noped on out of there!
right?? you learn a lot about helping rescue other people even in many basic courses, i'm not a rescue diver but i learnt how to deal with certain emergency situations in my basic open water diving course (and then even more, along with just practicing some stuff again, in an advanced course, which would be required before getting certified as a rescue diver, of course)
Could you recommend some podcasts? I usually listen to long videos on YT, mostly crime stuff, but want to try some podcasts, but don’t know where to start!! It’d be much appreciated!

Exactly! My husband and I are not divers but I can tell you 💯 he would’ve at least done all he could to get to me and remove my weights. This guy is a complete narcissist and clearly thought she should be punished with death for dating someone else while hoping to get some sort of payout in the end.

I live in Australia and remember this story. I totally think he’s guilty. Scuba is generally a pretty safety conscious sport, he would have been protesting the help pretty hard for the guides to let them go.
Too many red flags with that guy. Trying to ask her out when she is in a relationship, not worried about her safety, taunting her with a wedding ring. Also, she is way to pretty for him.
J's Pei Babies thank you!! Finally a comment not mentioning merch, the theme song or using the “no one: absolutely no one: Bailey: “comment format. You actually care more about the tragedy being discussed, which I wish were true of everyone watching this video...

I am a divemaster in Townsville, Australia - and have worked for the company this happened at and other local companies - I’ve dived this site MANY times and Tinas story is told by visitors all the time! The new rules around this dive site are no “new” divers are allowed to dive because of currents. But someone with 9 dives could potentially have the 2nd level certification of “advanced diver”, being a rescue diver with only 15 ocean dives is crazy, and so unlikely to happen. This whole story for me just screams red flags, what Gabe did (in all versions of his story) goes against all training that divers do! Even taking your eyes off your buddy while replacing your regulator long enough that they sink out of risk is insane!? It’s such a quick fix/and a skill that is taught and retaught at each level of training. I am always so shocked and confused about the fact he wasn’t charged with anything in Alabama! Thanks for covering this story, loved binging your videos over the past 48 hours and glad to see this one pop up!!!!!
he should've at least been found guilty of manslaughter in Alabama for being a certified rescue diver and shirking his responsibility of properly rescuing a diver!!
I’ve only taken a couple dive classes (couldn’t continue because it made my asthma act up) and I could have sworn that literally the 2nd thing I learned was what to do to get the respirator back in if you lose it. It was like: Lesson One- this is how you breathe. Lesson Two- if your respirator comes out, this is what you do.
I don’t know all the legal stuff - could he be charged for something he allegedly did in Australia in Alabama? Shouldn’t he be charged in Australia? Curious.
I live 30-45 min outside of Birmingham and remember this .... He is so guilty and if the state did not have such " backwards" opinions on some things he would be rotting in prison where he belongs.
My first thought about the hugging thing: sounds like someone that doesn’t feel "normal" emotions not knowing how someone would act in this situation. "Oh! I’ve seen people hug when they’re upset, so I’ll do that." Reminds me of cases I’ve read about where in the perp’s search history is stuff like "how do people act when their wife dies" so they can attempt to pretend to be distraught when they’re so narcissistic that they’ve never felt distraught or even worried about anyone.
Maybe he'd also prepared (or tried to prepare) a cover up for his "underwater bear-hug" - so that he could say, he always "loves to hug" - just in case, other divers had witnessed his unusual underwater activities (which in fact they did).
Chris Watts googled, "How does someone feel when you say I love you", or something like that. What a psychopath.😱😱😱 But yeah, I thought he was trying to act upset too. But I guess he forgot, you wait for strangers to offer a hug, you don't ask for one.
Man, it sounds like he punished her in life and then even after death. Why would he move her grave, then not have a tombstone for 3 years, and steal flowers?!?! It's like he wanted to devalue her and still control her after death.
Also, what was he doing? Going to her grave every few hours, just chillin' and checking to see if anyone had laid flowers down? Gross, get better hobbies.
same girl. all this gives bama a bad name and lets be real, we already have a hard time with our image lol I live in south alabama at the coast and its a whole different state down here tbh.
He did it thinking he was going to get her life insurance. So happy her dad didn’t put his name on the life insurance. That poor family, I can’t imagine
Perhaps the judge said the father's conversation with his daughter would be heresy? But I also think there's another rule that concerns people who have died?
T Angle do you mean “hearsay”? If it was a conversation between Gabe and Tina’s dad, it should be a viable point of evidence. Hearsay is when a third party that didn’t actually witness the conversation would have reported it. I bet Gabe had connections and there were some back room dealings going on.

Lol, that was my reaction too. Crushing on ladies who are already spoken for *NEVER* goes well. He needed to take several seats, a step back, a cold shower ... anything other than the actions he took instead.
@@nehdoll Yeah. Crushing is one thing because we can’t always help our feelings. It’s the actions in response to those feelings that speak volumes.
He kept asking after she said no. That's enough. It doesn't matter if she was in a relationship.
Ladies! never date a guy who continues to ask you out over and over even though he knows you’re in a relationship. BIG red flags all over
Yes, I wouldn't be interpreting it as "Isn't that sweet, he can't live w/o me" but that he can't handle rejection and if he won't respect boundaries, he won't respect anything if he doesn't get his way...about everything!

Certified rescue diver here! He’s definitely guilty 😅 the way he handled her sinking and panicking was NOT how you handle those situations
I've been looking for another diver, haha finally......also...getting a sinking diver... isn't anything rescue specific, right? Like of my buddy was sinking I'd go after him? Also going like "I'm soooo experienced" with 55 dives is a bit of a stretch.
Diver here too!! So many things wrong with his story

I'm a certified scuba diver, advanced in open waters. One of the first things we teach students is how to help/rescue other divers... He's a monster.
Same, anyone who has dove before knows he killed her. We are taught how to rescue our buddy for OW cerification.
He's a certified rescue diver that never learned how to rescue people? How did that lie even pass?
Natila Zehra Farooqi I was thinking the same thing!!
Girl.... (smh)

Yes!!! I was thinking the same thing! Like, she’s engaged, back off.
Yes, but this is so normalized and romanticized. Re: The Notebook.
Meanwhile he might have killed her because he was salty af that she went on a date while they were broken up 🙄
He shouldve understood how serious heart conditions are especially as a rescue diver which honestly tells me from the start he wasn't concerned for her safety or experience
Red flag one: he kept asking her out WHEN SHE WAS ENGAGED AND HE WOULDN'T STOP
Flag two: flipping out on her dating someone else after they broke up
Flag three: taunting her about the engagement
Flag four: forcing her to start diving
Flag five: talking about insurance

Her scuba diving teacher is an old friend of mine. He now has a talk with his students about why they want scuba lessons and tell any of them (the students) that say their learning so they can do this with friends or their partner this story. She was a sweet girl and the fact that she died because of this man, doing something she did not feel comfortable with, for him makes my friend rather suspish with other people who are learning for similar reasons.
Also, for those of y'all wondering. Most of Alabama refuse to have anything to do with him. He and his family have been socially shunned from most places, so he hasn't built much of a "new life"

It angers me when the "courts" DON'T allow ALL the evidence in!!!!! 😡🤬 Isn't that failing the victim!!??!!
I have gone diving a few times and they DRILL into you how to replace your regulator and not panic (like this dude claims to have panicked)
Curious.
I know nothing about diving. But when I heard this story on the news, I knew he was responsible for not even attempting to help her.
I live 30-45 min outside of Birmingham and remember this ....

My first thought about the hugging thing: sounds like someone that doesn’t feel "normal" emotions not knowing how someone would act in this situation. "Oh! I’ve seen people hug when they’re upset, so I’ll do that."
Reminds me of cases I’ve read about where in the perp’s search history is stuff like "how do people act when their wife dies" so they can attempt to pretend to be distraught when they’re so narcissistic that they’ve never felt distraught or even worried about anyone.
It's sickening they are soulless ugh 🤮🤮🤮
Creepy, but true. I feel be could've done something like this. Especially because everything is premeditated. Apparently not in Alabama though! Ugh
Maybe he'd also prepared (or tried to prepare) a cover up for his "underwater bear-hug" - so that he could say, he always "loves to hug" - just in case, other divers had witnessed his unusual underwater activities (which in fact they did).
Psychopaths do this! They're born without empathy, but to fit in with the people around them they become masters at mimicking human emotions.
Chris Watts googled, "How does someone feel when you say I love you", or something like that. What a psychopath.😱😱😱
But yeah, I thought he was trying to act upset too. But I guess he forgot, you wait for strangers to offer a hug, you don't ask for one.
I can't think of a single reason to believe he is innocent.
the word "narcissist" is screaming loudly in my head... and you can SEE it also in his pictures, not only his actions!
Man, it sounds like he punished her in life and then even after death. Why would he move her grave, then not have a tombstone for 3 years, and steal flowers?!?! It's like he wanted to devalue her and still control her after death.
He basically saw her as a possession. This is so sad, I can’t imagine how her father felt chasing after him.
You're probably right and that just makes me sad
Also, what was he doing? Going to her grave every few hours, just chillin' and checking to see if anyone had laid flowers down? Gross, get better hobbies.
I hate this fact.
Maybe he did it out of spite because her dad never put him as a beneficiary of her life insurance policy.
I live in Alabama and I personally think he should have gotten life in prison without parole
I came to the comments just say that. I do agree
Well I hate to break it to ya sis but your state failed ya/:
Exactly!!!
I live in Australia and I think the exact same thing!!
same girl. all this gives bama a bad name and lets be real, we already have a hard time with our image lol I live in south alabama at the coast and its a whole different state down here tbh.
He’s a certified rescue diver who never learned to bring someone to the surface? Suspish.
This eyeshadow look is EVERYTHING!
Sundown Adventurez yes, with her eye color it’s just spectacular 🔮
Gives me Laker vibes !
“The lord is testing me, and I didn’t study” i need this on merch IMMEDIATELY!!! Thanks, love you, bye 💜
He did it thinking he was going to get her life insurance. So happy her dad didn’t put his name on the life insurance. That poor family, I can’t imagine
I love how your aesthetic both in hair and background gets darker and darker over time
Gabe had no business being as confident as he was
100%
Society will really give men the audacity
SOMEONE SAID IT XD
@@celebacy6262 its not Society, its Nature of man
Weak chin.
Alabama: there’s not enough evidence
Me: WELL MAYBE ITS BECAUSE YOU REJECTED ALL THE EVIDENCE
So much this! Everyone failed that girl and her family
seriously tho, very suspish.
@@sarahmant3745 the conversation was between father and daughter, and there is only one party alive to confirm that claim
