the really sad truth as to why so many people turn out this way in the US, specifically, is the fact that we're the only country out of 38 within the OECD that does not entitle its people to ANY minimum paid family leave. almost all of us, here, are separated from our parents before we're old/securely attached enough to be ready. even in attentive parents, it's really easy to miss red flags like these when you have to choose between providing for your child and actually raising them. we as a culture are uniquely situated to export violent offenders - it helps to keep our prisons packed with workers whose fair compensation (like the rest of their humanity) ceases to matter the moment they enter the system. y'know, on top of all the nonviolent substance convictions that serve the same purpose? our social infrastructure isn't designed to make us healthy. we're raised to be capital meant to produce as much revenue as possible with as little cost as possible, to some seriously irrational and counterintuitive ends. no wonder the rest of the world pities us.

I’ve lived in Wichita for 43 years and know two women that were almost his victims. One knew him very well and let him come in when she was 7 months pregnant. He brought in a big “Dr bag” with him but she didn’t think much of it, assumed it was dog catcher related. When Dennis was caught completely off guard by her dad who’d just come out of a back room, he immediately got absolutely irate for no understandable reason and stormed off. He never came by after that. It was 20 years later when he was arrested that it all made sense.
Great job covering this POS, Bailey. My husband and I worked at EDCF back then. My husband processed him into state custody. The arrogance was strong in that one! His confession in court was like a performance. He was enjoying the attention. You got it right saying he is a big old baby. He loves being a "celebrity," but now he is just an old man with a number instead of a name. He lost his family and his freedom, and seems perfectly OK with that, because he got the notoriety he craved. He wife even changed her name and left the state. Can you imagine finding out your spouse was such a POS? A lot of officers and inmates at EDCF had connections to his victims, so he is in administrative segregation, where he is alone in a cell except for one hour of outdoor exercise, alone.
They cart him to Larned for breakfast at least some days. I'd imagine they do this because he's a security risk. Like, for some reason, having him at, "home," on Sunday mornings exposes him to a heightened threat level. 🤷🏼♀️
My brother and i were close growing up. He even taught me self defense to keep myself safe. The beginning of this month he tried to take my life. I think when you love someone you don't want to believe that they are capable of such evil. So even if you see the signs you dismiss them. No one wants to believe their loved one is a monster.
Can we all just take a moment and shout out a cheer for Bailey for not stumbling on the word "rural"! I could never! As always, amazing coverage. Thank you for sharing with us.
@KittyCat260 I've lived in WI my whole life and i didn't know people struggled with rural until all the recent stuff making fun of americans for not being able to say it.
I personally LOVE hearing about their upbringing and past life history. You really do a great job on your research on people and their pasts. I agree with you, that knowing the upbringing gives you a sense of why they became who they did. LOVE YOU BAILEY! You do an amazing job!
It’s scary how well he fooled his wife and church. He was super active in his church, too… It’s hard for me to believe that *no one* felt sus about him. I bet a few church members were giving him side eye and once he was caught were like, “I knew something was wrong with him!!!” Oh to be a fly on the wall in those gossip circles after his arrest. 😂
Not really everyone affiliated with the church has something wrong with them so it is no great surprise that he was in with the church crowd I always remember grandma trying to make me go when I was a kid luckily for me Grandpa was the master and ruler of the house and so I didn't have to
You know there had to be one person that was like “I don’t like him, I have a bad feeling” and everyone dismissed them as being a hater or jealous or something when they were right.
Most likely his wife at least sensed something, but was dismissive about red flags. That is way it's important to share these stories - to learn to spot them. Maybe I overthinking now 🤔
So many of these guys are like that!! John Wayne Gacy was the same!! Or at least he was considered a pillar in his community, I don’t think he was married. But ugh it’s so creepy.
We moved to Wichita KS in 1990. A friend of ours grew up here & told me about being terrified during BTK's "rampage" in the 70s. She was a young, single woman at the time, who lived alone - BTK's prime target.
This one hits close to home, literally. My great aunt (by marriage) is his cousin! Their whole family was at his wedding and keep in contact with his daughter, who is amazing. My exhusband and I owned a home right around the corner from his and some of the victims homes. They had to tear his house down because creeps kept buying it. I totally agree with you that he’s one of the scariest there was - he didn’t know his victims nor did he do it randomly, he planned and stalked them. It really was a dark period of time for the community, all the older locals can tell you stories and I can’t imagine being around at that time.
I'm so happy hearing all of this from Bailey.... She just delivers and explains true crime stories in the best, fun and intellectual way possible ❤️❤️❤️ Love you guys from this channel so so oh sxxoxo muxh!
I’m from Wichita and I was surprised that you did this story. I was really young, but my mom was always very scared of BTK. Thank you for shedding light on a sad and weird time in Wichita’s history. The family wouldn’t have wanted to be mentioned so thank you for also staying true to a story.
I’m from Wichita, KS! I remember when I was a little girl my mom was so scared that he was back after all those years. She would walk the house every time we came back home with a bat and she had someone come and safety proof our home. I just remember feeling a sense of peace once he was caught because my mom felt such peace. What a scary time to remember. What an awful man. May his victims rest in peace✨🙏🏼
Girl I’m from Hutchinson, KS but played soccer in Wichita, so crazy when one of these stories is so close to home, my mom was down the road when he was arrested💀🥲
I’ll never forget when he resurfaced; it was all everyone talked about for months then suddenly I was watching him being caught on the news. We knew his neighbors since they went to our church. She had known him for decades. How they found him was WILD.
It's awesome that you cover so many Midwestern cases, they're often overlooked and I have no clue why! It's fascinating to hear about, especially being from the area.

ooohhh! hometown sk story by Bailey. i remember being in middle school when they caught him... down the street from where i lived 🥲. also his daughter is such a warrior
Creepy fact (for my family at least), Rader lived 2 houses down from my Aunt and Uncle. Over hearing my family talk about the case at family gathering is the reason I fell into the true crime community at a young age. BTK is also the reason my Aunt/Uncle along with my Great Grandfather moved from Park City to Kansas City. I was a senior in HS when he was arrested and we all found out my Aunt/Uncle knew him as a 'great and helpful neighbor to have'...
Can i just say when I'm in the mood for true crime but don't want it that serious or scary, i always come back to you. It really is like what other people say as in it feels like you're sitting down with your best friend like, "OH GIRL DID YOU HEAR?" It's also really inspiring how when you first started you were fairly awkward and now you seem so confident and i love it. Don't stop being you
I love watching what color eyeshadow you do in each video. Each color you do almost makes your eyes change a color. At the beginning of this video before you started your eyes looked almost grey or light brown, once you started adding the green your eyes look more green now :O is that just me? lol I LOVE IT
It's so weird hearing her talk about my hometown like this! Dang. I remember having nightmares about him dragging me into a basement by my hair. I was 10 years old when he got caught. A lot of these details i didnt know about. My step mother at the time worked at a mobile home park across the street from his church, I remember the relief on my mom when he got caught, not having to worry about it any more.
BTK ended up on my grandma’s doorstep. She had noticed a man outside her house a few days prior and thought it was weird. Her date was bringing her home and he was on her doorstep. The man asked him why he was there and gave him an address on the other side of town. Decades later, when his identity was revealed, they recognized him immediately.
Since you asked our opinion a few times- I can do without the TLDR Rundown at the beginning. I love the story time format. LOVE to hear about family, personal, and early life. Thank you, Bailey!!! See you next time 💜
I have been waiting for this episode, having lived in Wichita during the BTK years. His capture came as a shock, but there was a palpable sense of relief in the community knowing he was finally off the streets.
Hey Bailey, thank you so much for this video, I've heard it a lot of times but I always find something new when you tell the story. I was watching the one about Chris Watts the other day, back then you were only starting this MM&M journey and boy, look how much you have grown! Please keep going, I absolutely love your videos, can't wait for next Monday to come just to see if there is a new upload. Speaking of which, I just came across this very disturbing case the other day, a guy by the name of Andre Thomas did a terrible thing to his own family, and then he kind of, blinded himself... I hope you consider to talk about this sometime, and as you always say, please be safe out there and remember we all love you very much! Greetings from Mexico ❤
Poor Ruthie. All parties involved should have been charged😢 such a sad story. But you wiping your makeup off then giving up and wearing your hood made me feel so understood😂❤️
When I was in the psychward at 19, one of the people I shared the ward with. They said that they knew someone that was a cellmate with BTK, they described him as quiet and polite.
When I was a kid my mom always taught me that someone could always be watching me and for any length of time. It used to make me mad cuz I was like who says crazy stuff like that to kids but I always kept it in mind. Now that I’m older I’m grateful and if I had a kid, daughter or son, I would tell them the same thing.

When Dennis was caught completely off guard by her dad who’d just come out of a back room, he immediately got absolutely irate for no understandable reason and stormed off. He never came by after that. It was 20 years later when he was arrested that it all made sense.
THAT IS TERRIFYING 😱
Wow
Lol who's this...
They cart him to Larned for breakfast at least some days. I'd imagine they do this because he's a security risk. Like, for some reason, having him at, "home," on Sunday mornings exposes him to a heightened threat level. 🤷🏼♀️
My husband was in prison with him&Johnny Robinson 😮
Yep and Richard grissom ,they got more mail from women then anyone else....
Haha you may have worked with my father at some point…I remember always being fascinated and would ask my dad questions about it lol.
I think Bailey knows we need the theme song for the real bad ones
My brother and i were close growing up. He even taught me self defense to keep myself safe. The beginning of this month he tried to take my life. I think when you love someone you don't want to believe that they are capable of such evil. So even if you see the signs you dismiss them. No one wants to believe their loved one is a monster.
That’s wild!
I'm so sorry. Hope you're doing well
Can we all just take a moment and shout out a cheer for Bailey for not stumbling on the word "rural"! I could never! As always, amazing coverage. Thank you for sharing with us.
So is it a standard American thing not to be able to say "rural"? 😂 I had no idea you were all struggling so hard 🤣
@@KittyCat260I'm Canadian and I struggle with it... 🙄
I thought the same thing 🤣❤
@KittyCat260 I've lived in WI my whole life and i didn't know people struggled with rural until all the recent stuff making fun of americans for not being able to say it.
@@KittyCat260for those of us actually from rural areas, no. I've never heard anyone that's not a city-slicker struggle with it.
I personally LOVE hearing about their upbringing and past life history. You really do a great job on your research on people and their pasts. I agree with you, that knowing the upbringing gives you a sense of why they became who they did. LOVE YOU BAILEY! You do an amazing job!
I agree!
As a detail oriented person I looove hearing about the backstories and why they are the way they are
This one bothered me more than all the stories you’ve done before. This man is pure evil. Love your makeup today! So pretty!
"We wouldn't be mad. We wouldn't mind. - I'm sorry, that's mean - but is it? Not really." 🤣
Read your comment as Bailey said it 😅
No, we wouldn’t mind
Can we talk about the fact that Bailey doesn’t stumble over “rural” anymore?! 🎉🎉🎉
The one I've been waiting for!!!! This guy is the reason I was NEVER allowed to be alone til he was caught! He scared all of Kansas!
I live in Wichita, there were tons of people who said he gave weird vibes. They said he was power hungry when trying to enforce rules about things.
@@kaitlynnmountney8331lol for real. They were probably told to "stop being negative."
Most likely his wife at least sensed something, but was dismissive about red flags. That is way it's important to share these stories - to learn to spot them. Maybe I overthinking now 🤔
I appreciate when Bailey says what we’re all thinking 💭
I love how confident Bailey is. She put her foot down and since then she’s just gotten so confident and comfortable in her videos again ❤
BTK/Dennis being a family man and active member of the community whilst doing all of those horrific things for so long is very scary...
Just proves you cannot trust someone just because they're involved in church or their community and have a family.
Makes me look a little harder at the "regular people". 👀🧐
I'm so glad you covered him. I live here in Wichita KS. I played in park City as a teen right before he went to the media. Scary
Same! I actually played in his backyard before he was caught
I'm so happy hearing all of this from Bailey.... She just delivers and explains true crime stories in the best, fun and intellectual way possible ❤️❤️❤️ Love you guys from this channel so so oh sxxoxo muxh!
Girl same I played soccer in Wichita my whole childhood and knowing about this story growing up terrified me💀
same born and raised park city and it was terrifying
"Fear always works" that's what the final commentary reminded me of. Be afraid of the world and trust nobody
The best part of Mondays…. Love you Bailey ❤
I’m from Wichita and I was surprised that you did this story. I was really young, but my mom was always very scared of BTK. Thank you for shedding light on a sad and weird time in Wichita’s history. The family wouldn’t have wanted to be mentioned so thank you for also staying true to a story.
What a monster. This though “He acts all tough but he’s a Fing baby” got me 😂
I’m from Wichita, KS!
I slept with a crowbar under my pillow for years because of him.
I’m from Wichita tooo!!!
Girl I’m from Hutchinson, KS but played soccer in Wichita, so crazy when one of these stories is so close to home, my mom was down the road when he was arrested💀🥲
As someone who loves Mindhunter, thank you for covering BTK’σ story !!
So that story was about him!!!! I knew this sounded familiar.
We need a season 3
Yessss mind hunter needs to come back!! Sucha underrated series.
It’s hurts me, HURTS ME that they just abruptly stopped that show!
We need a season 3 😫
When you said “let’s get down to business “ I sang “ let’s get down to business, to defeat the Huns….” Anyone else 😂😂
I didn't think that at the time she said it. But NOW i am 🤣
@@ShellyCline EVERY TIME I hear this, I sing it in my head. Without a fail 😂😂
ME TOO
Yo same
I’ll never forget when he resurfaced; it was all everyone talked about for months then suddenly I was watching him being caught on the news. We knew his neighbors since they went to our church. She had known him for decades. How they found him was WILD.
It's awesome that you cover so many Midwestern cases, they're often overlooked and I have no clue why! It's fascinating to hear about, especially being from the area.
I love green eye makeup looks, and I love your work. ❤ been listening for years, always waiting for new stories. You rock 🎉
anyone else hold their breath in anticipation of if she will sing the theme song?? LOL every time she does it's like a small win !
Yes😂
Thank you mother. I was STARVED 😢
💯🖤
Pourquoi tu te parles ? @@Solènelamigonnelicorne
@@SolènelamigonnelicorneLo de llamarle “madre” es solamente un chiste/meme 😆
This all seems like such a lot of work. It always amazes me that these awful people can use that much energy when there are other, better things to put it toward
I just realised that I discovered Bailey in May 2021 when I was struggling to finish my Bachelor thesis. Today, May 13, 2024, I am again struggling finishing my Master thesis but still watching Bailey:)) Love youuu
What’s your thesis topic?
I heard you had a surgery, I totally understand what that’s like and I really hope you got rest and sunshine and peace of mind while you healed. I am so glad you are ok and that you are back!
idk about makeup, but generally these female true crime channels are awesome. I find it more entertaining just listening to one person talk about a case than all these interviews and stuff
The green eyeshadow makes your eyes pop so beautifully 😍
just for feedback purposes, i honestly dont like rundowns, i like to hear the story and collect my impressions as it goes along, not knowing what comes already ❤ love your vids, paired with your sense of humor its so unique and relatable
I love that you used a clip of his trial! If possible I'd like to see that more often!!
Green always looks so beautiful on you, really compliments your eyes, hair and skin tone. Gorgeous ✨
No rundown! Love the childhood to adult chronological telling with all the sidetracked and backstories❤❤
I spoke to soon, I see you put chapters in in the vid so I can easily skip 😅😊 thank you!
I always love when you do a green eye look! They are my favs!
We needed Joan’s loving caws to comfort us during this frightening tale... caw caw Joan. caw caw.
Bailey your videos always make me feel like im listening to my best friend telling me about some crazy thing she read about on the internet and its so comforting. Love your videos, love you!
One of the things i love about Monday videos is Bailey goes from a beautiful bare faced young woman to a beautiful painted faced young woman.
The make up just highlights her natural beauty.
ooohhh! hometown sk story by Bailey. i remember being in middle school when they caught him... down the street from where i lived 🥲. also his daughter is such a warrior
What’s her name please
Only Bailey could make green eyeshadow look amazing.
Big Sparky Time? Uh, nay-nay!!
Don't stop being you
So glad you’re back and healed. We love you!!
I was having major Mandela Effect thinking you’ve already covered BTK but I was wrong 😂 glad for a new video! Woo Bailey! 🎉
Girllllll meeee tooooo!!!! I was like a rerun but it says it’s new 🫢😂😵💫 I’ve lost it
Me too, but I think I was mixing it up with Gacey!
yes!!! my thought i was like…mmm didn’t she do this already 😅 weird
I thought that too. I was thinking it was a clip. Lol people get so big mad about them. 😂
I thought that too! maybe just because there's so much material about him? I know his story well, unfortunately
You should do The Hillside Strangles. Their case is crazy and one of my favorites to learn about and talk about
Totally agree
The queen is back! Tbh, I feel like BTK could have been a miniseries.
Also: I’m all about the rundown. Give us all the knowledge!
GIRL YES AS A WICHITA GIRLY I’VE BEEN WANTING YOU TO DO BTK FOREEEEEEVER

I love watching what color eyeshadow you do in each video. Each color you do almost makes your eyes change a color. At the beginning of this video before you started your eyes looked almost grey or light brown, once you started adding the green your eyes look more green now :O is that just me? lol I LOVE IT
Team old format without the rundown. Love you Bailey 💜
Same.... I dont like hearing the end first. BUT SO THANKFUL for the story Bailey
100%
It's so weird hearing her talk about my hometown like this! Dang.
I remember having nightmares about him dragging me into a basement by my hair. I was 10 years old when he got caught. A lot of these details i didnt know about. My step mother at the time worked at a mobile home park across the street from his church, I remember the relief on my mom when he got caught, not having to worry about it any more.
That's scary. He was an evil man.
Since you asked our opinion a few times-
I can do without the TLDR Rundown at the beginning. I love the story time format.
LOVE to hear about family, personal, and early life.
Thank you, Bailey!!! See you next time 💜
yeah i agree
agreed 🫶🏼
I have been waiting for this episode,
having lived in Wichita during the BTK years. His capture came as a shock, but there was a palpable sense of relief in the community knowing he was finally off the streets.
Your beautiful...
Just met you over mothers day weekend! Thank you for being so sweet! Made my day! ❤
How cool! I’d love to meet Bailey. I live in the LA area too but no such luck so far. Bailey- you’re the coolest!
These videos are the only reason I look forward to Mondays. Your story telling is my favorite thing ever.
Poor Ruthie. All parties involved should have been charged😢 such a sad story. But you wiping your makeup off then giving up and wearing your hood made me feel so understood😂❤️
Love the consistency lately with MMM uploads and theme songs 🖤
When I was in the psychward at 19, one of the people I shared the ward with. They said that they knew someone that was a cellmate with BTK, they described him as quiet and polite.
I’m pretty sure he’s been in solitary confinement his entire prison sentence.
@kathleenyoung9486 yeah, that's probably true. Maybe the guy was bullshitting me.
@@Neku628 you know how that jail talk is lol
baileyyyy i just gotta say i felt you were more open in this video and I really enjoyed it!
Wichita, Kansan here 🙋🏻♀️ this story def still haunts our city and yet I forget the rest of the world is aware too. I know Bailey will give us even more facts and a FACE girl thank youuu 💗💖💋
Only 20 min in and baileys makeup already looks incredible
I love your backgrounds, Bailey! It helps us realize that “normal” people can be suspect.
Monday? Blah… Bailey on Monday? YAAAAAASSSSSS! Theme song? Day is MADE!!! ❤️
This is literally the most chill and relatable I've ever seen you be. Like so much more calm and easier to follow/keep up with. Favorite episode since day 1
Her early video were relaxed like this and then as she got more and more popular things started to feel a little rushed but she’s always Bailey ❤❤❤
