While i agree with what you said how the EBU shouldnt be looked upon with a moral high ground and theyre not there to solve a humanitarian crisis, their actions in the past regarding the russiam invasion of ukraine and lack of action during multiple accusations of harrasment of other contestants, bribing people for votes, and financial support of israel is what makes so many eurofans angry at the EBU. The tonedeaf and hypocritical attitude towards Israel this year is appaling to many.
Agreed. It feels like being jewish is seen as a pedestal for war crimes. I am jewish and I believe strongly Israel shouldn't have been allowed to compete. There were two Israelis singing, one was booed for representing a vengeful, hate filled, extremist ethno-state, and got booed rightly, the other represented Luxembourg and was well received. No one should judge anyone for their birth place, but one can be judged for who they chose to represent. The EBU is an implicitly political union, and the action in 2022 and lack of action in 2024 are both political statements in their own right. If Israel has the right to participate, then russia should also, if russia can't, then Israel and azerbaijan should both also be banned.
I find it particularly pernicious that the main sponsor of the Eurovision is an Israeli firm with a very dubious human rights record called Moroccan oil. They are still the main sponsor for next year. I feel this was why Bambie had no chance with her complaint against Israel with the ebu
we have very different definitions of almost. 278 points VS 591 isnt "almost" thats miles away....
Crown the Witch. She is the real winner long term. The winner will soon be forgotten. But not this Irish performance.
