I worked as a nurse in Singapore for 7 years ... i like the food, people and environment. Singapore is a clean and green country. Sometimes i will finished work at 11pm and i can walk alone in the streets because there are lights everywhere and some establishments are still open. After work i will drop by to the mall to relax because most of MRT stations have nearby malls. I have met many friends from China, Myanmar, India, Malaysia, Vietnam, Pakistan and etc. And they have beed good to me. I migrated here in Australia last 2016 with my husband and sometimes i still miss Singapore. In Singapore i cannot bring my family because i am not a Permanent Resident but here in Australia i gave birth and can work while being with my famiy, but despite of that I AM VERY GRATEFUL until now to SINGAPORE which I considered my second home. Every country has its flaws and weaknesses like us people. Singapore and Australia or whichever country will be a good place to live if you know how to be grateful and live simply. God bless everyone❤❤❤

Getting a working pass in Singapore by starting your own business (with only plans) is literally impossible!! As there is no guarantee you can help SG’s economy and might just be a burden if you did not succeed. If you had joined someone else’s stable business, your chances of getting accepted is definitely much higher!

I'm sorry to hear that your application has been denied. TBH, it is quite obvious to me about why your application is rejected...(as a sgrean). The reason is probably the same worries that Daniel has. If you are worried about your finance, the ministry will probably be worried about it too if you choose to live here. It is not cheap to live in SG and they want to make sure that you have a steady income or financial ability to live here comfortably.
Despite that, please do not give up on appealing to live here. We welcome everybody who wants to make SG a better place to live in :)

I disagree. it's more like you settle for something less and less for each opportunity you missed or failed. Also, God is not the answer. If you examine the most successful and admired people past or present, most of them are not even religious. I personally cannot think of anyone I admired who is religious. Brilliant people dont even need GOD.

Cambridge University rejected me. I was so frustrated and sad. Oop forgot to tell you the reason.......My result did not meet their minimum criteria. So, please don't blame Cambridge.

    • @WeTheKims
      @WeTheKims  6 ปีที่แล้ว +25

No one's blaming "Cambridge." Rejection is a normal part of life, we know. It happens to all people. Nevertheless the rejection was painful for Kim so she's sharing about her pain and how it's affected her. Not once did we say the "Cambridge" acceptance criteria was flawed and that it should change.

I think that the point is that the title is extremely misleading as it makes it seem that the country and people 'rejected' you instead of you just not meeting the Ministry of Manpower's requirements.

You put the wrong title as clickbait guys.. both of you felt hurt, but every singaporean who reads your title would feel mmm.....yeah you could answer by yourself, just like american felt by what world judging on donald trump did,or muslim feels for world blaming to some terrorist did. both of you just like "them".

Please reconsider changing the title of your blog.
Justin and Pica certainly have a good point.
If you don't change it, more NEGATIVITY will come on your way as you try to use a peaceful country's name just to have a viewer.

We all love our plans but life is an explore and gets tough. You both seem to know how to hold on to one another and that will help you every time. Keep up the dreams and plans but be prepared to let life unfold a little by itself. My wife is Australian (Welsh/ Scottish background a way back), II was born in Australia, parents were post WWII refugees from southern China. We've been married 40 years and had 5 kids. Times weren't always smooth but it is about faith and hanging onto each other. I love your honesty, you feel like good people who have found the person to make the most of this life. Good luck.

@We The Kims, it's a blessing in disguise in this regard. I learned the hard way that living cost in Singapore is not cheaper (or at least the savvy alternative) than Vancouver (in reference to saving money). I do agree with you guys on wanting to start a business in SG but God has other plans for you two... there will be a better location for you guys to really save money and start a business elsewhere. Had I known that you guys sought help from consultants, I would have told you to not use their service and would recommend that you guys did it alone.

having lived in new york prior to my move, i can honestly say that SG is competitive as hell(and i thought NY was bad) but they also party like mad on weekends. No doubt healthcare, goverment etc is top notch in Singapore, but it really is hectic and competitive. emphasis on the latter. as a newyorker, my first few months was a culture shock.

Misleading video title, Singaporean here but totally standing on a neutral point to understand your circumstances.
It might be due to the lack of criteria and requirements met.
Singapore did NOT reject you, the ministry did.
Nevertheless, Singapore will always remain welcoming to you both anytime in the near future.
Don't be afraid to try again.

Seems like both of you have a sense of entitlement, moving to where you want to go, whenever, because you have a dream. What works for us? IT freelancer and ex-model, ask what can you contribute to the country you wish to "try-out" your online dream? It doesn't matter which city, KL, Taipei, SIN or Sri Lanka. Your title is disingenuous and your motive for this video report suspicious. However, I do not doubt your emotions. Grow up!

Hello Michael Lim, thank you for your thoughtful comment. Please refer to this video: th-cam.com/video/vBWK8cKrZUQ/w-d-xo.html :) We as humans, are allowed to experience disappointments and share about them. Perhaps others can relate by hearing the message “I really wanted this goal or dream to work out, but it didn’t.” And working through the disappointment. It lets people know they aren’t alone in working through tough times, we all have them. Most of all, this is our online video diary, so that we can remember all our ups and downs, be authentic and real. Hope you enjoy the video linked above. - Kim

Dear WE the Kims, I'm from the USA and living in Singapore now. I didn't sense any entitlements coming from your desire to live in a place where you want to live. Hey, wonderful humans! Rest assure it can actually be a blessing in disguise. The most important thing, is you two explore this short life together in unity, love, compassion, openness and acceptance for each other through thick and thin. Besides, life is too short for anything else that is transient. Anyone can go anytime in no time. You two just emits loving kindness for each other and it's just so heart warming and comforting to see how supportive and patient 2 humans can be for each other! Ah such envy! Best of luck to the both of you in life wherever you 2 go! Home is just where love is! It can be anywhere! And I bet as long as you two finds strength and support from each other, the rest does not matter! You 2 should procreate and fill this world with more love! :D Thank you for your presence in this turbulent world!

So sorry to learn that your application to Singapore was rejected. Could be blessing in disguise. :) Do you know that the cost of living in Singapore is so high? And for the fourth year in a row, the Economist Intelligence Unit has declared Singapore the world’s priciest city. Household income of $15K is rated as below average. BUT does that means everyone who live in Singapore are rich? I dont think so. why? because I live in Singapore. I am not rich and we can still live comfortably here :) On the other hand, I have to admit that I love Singapore, simply because, this is a very safe place, stable government, multi-racial country, love the food - really amazing variety of food , stable and predicted weather, very clean country, very convenient and easy access to public transport. :) Btw, Kim, you have lived here some years ago, right? Then you should know the cost of living here... ;)

But yeah, AUS and NZ might not be similar to Singapore, HK, Thailand etc. I guess on that note you guys could also consider Malaysia (probably KL or Penang, top expat cities in Malaysia) especially due to its close proximity to Singapore. But then again of course it will depend on whether you can build prospects and/or a career in those places which will also depend on how long you're planning to stay overseas :)

It is a blessing in disguise to get rejected by a straight jacket country. For the past five years, "bird people" in ASEAN migrated down south, especially to singapore. Our business consultant in Singapore who was helping us through the process believed it could be because our PTE LTD business model appeared as though we weren't going to be hiring locals as employees. The only "full story" we are trying to share is Kim's emotional pain from the rejection. No where in the video are we suggesting that the decision for rejection by the Singapore ministry of manpower was unfair.

You can really enjoy low cost of living if you are paid in Canadian dollars and spend in Thailand (for example) . So, you need to be an expatriate and your Canadian company transfer you to Thailand. If you are employed by Thailand company, paying in Thai Baht and Thai salary standard, you will find that the cost of living in Thailand is not cheap with your Thai salary.

I do not know your citizenship. I believe you will enjoy some benefit as a citizen of your county. For example, in Singapore, Singaporean enjoy free education till college but education cost is expensive for foreigner. Singaporean enjoys medical subsidies etc... So, my suggestion to you is to get a permanent stable job in your country that you can enjoy most benefits. Take online business as part time job or let your wife handle it. Your number of travel per year will depend on your saving. You are already 30+, travelling to 40 over countries is enough. It is time to work hard to support your family, children, build up your asset and next to plan for your retirement cost. I believe if you keep enjoying while you are young, you will have hard time when you grow older. It is very sad to see old men and women still working for living when they are 70. Please plan carefully.

Singapore opened its door to foreigners started 10 years back, tens of thousands of foreigners got their approval to live here. But due to economic constraints and struggles, the door started closing up 5 years back, you guys are a bit late. But Dont worry we welcome you to try again. It's not only you, even foreigners who are living here struggled to get the stay. Do try again some time later

Actually is hard to migrate to singapore is because you need to do alot of paper work from the Singaporean government to live there. Actually I'm from Philadelphia but I came to singapore last year for studying. My Singaporean friends told me that if you want to live in singapore you'll need to do paper works

It’s okay the cost of living is too high you’ll won’t even be having this kind of house in Singapore... also if your driving in your country don’t even think about it in Singapore it’s extremely high and the car license is only for 10 years more over transport breaks down constantly in my country I think Thailand would be a better option though it’s not as save but I doubt it will be difficult to adapt

Singaporean here. Please dont migrate here. The country is so small and the population is increasing. The government suck because they are blood suckers. Our public transport system is one of the worst, almost everyday theres a breakdown and yet the price is increasing. Many of locals here wish to migrate to other countries

My advice as someone who is born in Singapore is … get a job in Sg is easier to secure your employment pass for the move.
Freelancers won’t get EP usually as alot end up competing jobs with the locals and the island is already very crowded. Next all the process is straight forward, you don’t need to pay biz consultants to do this.

Most likely Singapore will give you a working pass if your skills are needed to contribute here. It is based on meritocracy, which means even if u have relevant skills, you are in competitions with other similar applicants.

Blessing in disguise. The cost of living for Expats in Singapore is really not easy without a big expatriate pay. From healthcare to education and especially housing, its not easy now for foreigners to come Singapore just to start up.
At the same time, i believe that God knows our heart and its not a rejection of a dream but just God saying "Not yet, but soon so please wait...".
I know this from my own experience the past year where my own life deviated so far from my dreams that i gave it all up and finally i just said "God i surrender all...whether i go or stay its up to you. I will just be thankful for wherever you place me and i submit my dreams to you". Fast forward till one month ago, an opportunity opened and in one month i have brought myself so much closer to my dream than i though could be possible by this time!
So don't worry, continue to chase the dream and enjoy the winding journey to get there.

Getting a job as a foreigner in current Singapore is now tough, they really are tightening the quota for foreign workers. IT and engeenering are the demand jobs for foreigners in Singapore. I'm currently in SG on a vacation and even I is struggling on finding jobs here (even the minimum rate jobs) despite my good work experience.

I will not even think to go their again after my recent experience of denied entry and treated rude and being discriminated by immigration officers. Before 4 years ago i am visiting with no problems now when i went after long time the immigration officers are very rude even ask me if i know how to speak English and threatened me never ever i will go back in that country . What a horrible experience. This people tarnished their countrys good name. Before my impression to Singapore people are very welcoming but as for my recent experience its horrible. Detained me like a criminal without any explanation . I cant even go to bathroom and asked if i know how to speak English and if i study.

By the way singaporean here. I think why all of you are so obessess with singapore life is because of the security. I am pretty sure of that. Most of the foreigner goes for that. But I want to say security is one point. But as life continues, you will realise how hard it is to live in Singapore
