About the game:
Patchwork is an abstract 2 player board game in which you'll have to stitch patches onto a quilt board making the best use of the available space. Its a game where you'll have to manage your turns well in order to either buy the patches that most interest you or rest to gain resources to spend on new buttons.

In this tutorial we'll show you how to play Patchwork from scratch, right out of the box. You'll learn how to set it up, all the rules, including those clarified by game designers on FAQs. I really wanted to know how to play this game
Do you earn the checkpoint buttons if moving by the time on a purchased patch? Or, only on the "resting" turn movement? Just got this game for my Mom, was really fun!
Hi Adam, you gain checkpoint buttons when you pass the checkpoint either way. So whether you pass by a purchase or by resting, collect some buttons! Thanks for your comment.
I am playing this game at 10 years old with a 7year old
Is it possible at the very beginning of the game when both players are on the start space that the player to take the first move can choose to rest straightaway and move one space ahead and therefore take one button then end their turn. The starting player doesn’t have to buy necessarily on the first opening turn?

To answer your question, sure! You can always rest on your first turn, you aren't obliged to buy on any of your turns. I once played a game in which the first 3 patches were all pretty expensive so both of us had to rest a couple of times before byuing.

Hello Michelle, I have played it once and it was exactly like patchwork except for the initial placing of tiles. There are several versions of Patchwork out there: Halloween edition, Christmas edition, Valentines edition and soon Stack'n Stuff. They all have the same mechanic with very minor differences.
