As a Michigan fan, you absolutely have to love James Franklin. You can always count on him to do at least two or three really stupid things per game and he never fails to disappoint

As a Penn State fan it's really hard to disagree. It's hard to imagine what it is this guy does. He's a horrible game day coach.
He does recruit well, but in game decision have a lot to desire (IMO)? Didn't make much sense to me to go for the 2-point conversion early on in the game ... the other ones are debatable as well @@DavidAdarmases12

Franklin immediately blaming Allar for the loss is wild. The kid is obviously terrified of throwing an interception because of his coaches, and because of that he never takes risks and doesnt get big plays because of that. But the fact that he immediately blamed Allar's fumble for the loss is insane for me. Harbaugh would never blame one of his players like that
I was about to comment that he later talks about needing to call better plays so drew can find receivers but then immediately blames the o-line for not giving him enough time. That is not a head coach mindset and this team deserves better especially for a D1 program

Franklin covering his behind at all costs….Little did he share, they could barely move the ball at all….He’s a terrible sideline coach, and has no real innovation. There’s a better head coach at Akron making 400k a year, who averaged I BELIEVE 34 points a game here, and over 440 yards of offense per game as OC.
Franklin is just making multiple generations of wealth for himself here….nothing else.
He couldn’t make the staff at Colleges vying for the National Title.

Michigan is the better team. Well, better coached team at least. Winning the game doesn't mean you aren't cheaters though and your last 3 seasons, including this one are tainted. Winning (by cheating) helped recruiting too. Got housed by TCU because you didn't have their signals.

Combative and defensive -- not a good look for Franklin. Don't see how that creates a winning culture. Contrast that with Moore's emotions at the end of the game when talking about Harbaugh, the players and their program. People say sign stealing is what created a strong Michigan, but the reality is that culture and development is why Michigan is strong. These two programs are moving in very different directions.
Some one should ask him... You have all the resources needed and the support of the fans, you talk about reflection and accountability, yet you fail to meet the expectations you personally set for your teams. Do you ever think that maybe you just don't posess the skills to achieve your and our expectations for this program?

Ok, but Dave is right...why would you risk making it a 2 possession game by going for 2 the 2nd time? What kind of analytics is telling you to do that? Especially since we were not moving the ball that well. If you happen to get the onside and score, you can go for the tie. Now you have to do it twice and score twice? Makes zero sense. Keep the game alive at that point. Take the PAT.

There are articles saying that the two coaches who strongly pushed for immediate punishment on Michigan to the B1G commissioner were Ryan Day and James Franklin. If that's true, I think James Franklin is regretting for what he asked. Now, he not only lost to Michigan but even lost to a team that didn't have their headcoach on the sideline. How embarrassing. Cryan Day might be regretting too lol

Coach you were never down by 4 in the game. You were down 5 after your first touchdown. What I don’t understand is why did you change your mind on kicking the extra point? If you rewatch, Franklin put up his finger to indicate he wanted to kick the extra point. So someone must have convinced you to go for 2. I’ve never been a fan of going for 2 at any point outside of the 4th quarter. Playing the what if game sits better with me if I kick extra points all game instead of going for 2 and not converting. Once you miss that first conversion as a coaching staff it’s always in the back of your head and you can find yourself chasing extra point by forcing yourself to go for 2 the rest of the game.
Lol he had to go for 2 because he knew they would have limited possessions. Kicking the extra point wouldn’t have won Penn State the game. Penn State lost because they can’t stop the run.
@matthewhacket, I totally understand you feeling that your offense is anemic and having the sense that you gotta push for 2. But take the easy 1 point and live to fight another series. Especially that early in the game, you don’t know how the game is gonna play out. Going for 2 at the time he did in the 4th quarter also made no sense.
Michigan is definitely the better team, but I think Franklin definitely made some poor game management decisions they put his team under unnecessary pressure
@@matrue2 Lol Franklin is not new to coaching against Michigan. His team was already down double digits on that drive and they had to convert 2 4th downs to get that first touchdown. Also the decision to go for 2 in the 4th was not a bad decision down 15 because they needed a 2 point conversion to even have a chance for a tie

I don't see the logic behind going for it when you are down 9. It didnt lose them the game but I thought they should have punted it on 4th when there were 4 mins to go. As a Michigan fan I think Penn state did an excellent job. They really threw the kitchen sink at us and were aggressive went for it on several 4th downs. They went down swinging and they just didn't have the personnel to compete across the board. And as far as Drew goes he's a young QB that still needs to be sheltered and cannot win these types of games yet, that's why they didn't put it on him.
Completely agree. Everyone is so quick to throw Drew under the bus. People forget he was playing against arguably the best defense in college football..and this is his first full year. I expect him to be much better next year and its not like he has not thrown any TD's this year. He has 21 TD's.

The fact that he put ANY blame on the defense is crazy. Them boys on defense deserve better than that. Zero % of this loss was on them. One of the best defenses I've ever watched at Penn State. Man tf up and stop making excuses franklin.
They gave up 227 yards rushing. Michigan finished on a run of 32 straight running plays. They got blown off the ball and bullied. Overhyped.

Hate to tell all you PSU fans this, but your Coach was probably the biggest reason you lost today. I counted three really bad decisions made by either Franklin or another coach that drastically effected how they had to play the rest of the game. He’s not a big game Coach, never has been. Michigan isn’t where they are because of cheating, don’t fool yourselves. They have talent all over the field and are a good football team, even without their Coach. Wait and see how many UM guys get drafted this year and you’ll understand.

What about Michigan's 4 & 1 with 7:56 left in the 3rd where they are in a jumbo package with 7 down lineman and 2 TEs (9 people total) at the line of scrimmage. 99% of the time Michigan will run with Corum in the backfield right into the heart of the line. How did you know to drop a safety 10 yards deep and only play 6 down lineman against that front and play the pass perfectly?
Sounds like the EXACT same scenario that you used to accuse Michigan of cheating. What is the general public supposed to believe? That when Michigan does it they had to have cheated and when Penn State does it, well they must have been lucky? Michigan has not run that play all season so I find it hard to believe that any answer would have come from "scouting that formation in previous games".
