Michigan's rushing game in 2023 has been a fraction of its 2022 self. In part because they haven't had to rely on it and with the exception of the Purdue game most of the starters haven't seen the 4th quarter (adds to stats being lower than last year). I think Penn St is the 2021 version of Michigan but the bad news is that same 2021 version of Michigan is now the better 2023 version of Michigan. Home field will play a big role in this game for sure. For Penn St to win Michigan has to beat themselves and have turnovers/penalties. If Michigan does what they have all year, especially on the defensive, I think it'll be a long day for Penn St's offense (especially a young QB). Over the past two seasons Michigan has beaten arguably better Penn St teams with again arguably worse Michigan teams. But this is why we play the games! Good luck to both teams and Go Blue!

No you're wrong. Corum and Edwards will remind you of what they did last year...no need to wear and tear them up to this point. They have a great rotation to give other rb's snaps and keep them healthy.
I agree with this. I think the coaches knew coming into this season that the front end of their schedule wasn't great and they wouldn't need to put a heavy load on Corum and Edwards to win games. Now with 3 games left, against their best competition, you might see a ground and pound running game similar to how they played last year. Their running backs are fresh and haven't been called on to run the ball 40 times a game to win. Additionally, JJ is improved over last year, so he can be relied on much more if Penn State loads the box and commits to stopping the run. Other additional factors that I think are important are that Michigan hasn't had to show it's entire playbook on film because of the marginal competition they have played, meaning they probably have a bunch of plays saved for their best competition, that being Penn State and Ohio State in these last 3 games of the season. Plus, Michigan got to see their biggest two competitors on film prior to them having play each of those teams, when Penn State played Ohio State. All advantages in my opinion, but you still have to go out and execute and win the games.

I totally agree. If either team can run the ball well, that's probably the difference. But I don't expect either team to be able to do that. So, it is going likely boil down to which QB can get first downs for his team. So far, I haven't seen that from Allar. But I know how he was recruited. I know he has that in him. Will he show it this weekend? Or will we not see it until next season? Don't know. We will find out.

He brings in the recruits and wins 10 games a year… Pretty good numbers if you ask me now the fact that he can’t beat Ohio State or Michigan or a top 10 team is a trend that he needs to change but there are lots of coaches like that. He’s just happens to be in the spotlight of the scrutiny right now. One thing I will say is that he does not seem to develop players at the level you would think they should be… If you are bringing in a top five class almost every year I don’t know it’s just they’re not turning out Nfl talent nearly as much as, you think should be
If you look at the big picture, he has a top 10 program that is in a great place on the national landscape. The problem is there are two very clear hurdles that he needs to get over, and history has shown he doesn't seem to be able to do that. Maybe that will change, I hope it does, but I would have to see it to believe it.
Interesting fact: Since 2009, Penn State is 6-6 versus Michigan (3-3 since 2017). I’d have guessed 1-11 or 2-10 since 2009 but never 6-6, that’s pretty darn impressive for PSU.

Yes, psu usually plays Michigan tough, but 2022 Michigan was the most talented MI team in 20 years. The 2023 team is even better and is the deepest team in the B10 and maybe/probably CFB. Easily the most talented MI team in my lifetime. Don't think same can be said for psu. Only way Michigan loses is of they beat themselves with penalties and turnovers, 2 things they haven't done in 3 years outside the TCU game.
We own PSU 16-10 all time. All of PSU’s wins come from Rich Rod and Brady Hoke. Franklin is 2-6 vs michigan when fans are in the stadium and when he loses it’s not even close.

Penn State’s run defense is allowing 49% of opponent rush averages. What that basically means is they’re holding their opponents to less than HALF of what they normally average on the ground, which is generationally good. Georgia’s historic 2021 defense was at 56%, for comparison. Michigan’s run games regression and Penn State’s dominant run defense likely mean Michigan’s offense will have to run through JJ if it’s gonna be effective, and we’ll get to see just how much better he’s gotten.
michigans run game hasn’t regressed if anything they have more options now. they j have to use it less cos they now have a passing game meaning no point playing as physical risking injuries and burnout that hinder their playoff hopes

Michigan was elite last year and has only gotten better with the exception of the run game. That being said after rewatching old games we had similar number of stopped or short runs last year. We were running so much because we couldn’t rely on JJ as much and because of that there were more opportunities for breakout runs.

Among coaches contending for the playoffs, he has the most atrocious record against Top 25 opponents, and especially against Top 10 teams. Because of this, anytime he comes up against any of the major powers in the postseason, he comes up short! Because opponent teams (like TCU) have enough time to change their play signs in the post-season, Harbaugh is not able to cheat, and he gets blown out every time he steps in the postseason. How in the hell can you call such program elite?

No you're wrong. Corum and Edwards will remind you of what they did last year...no need to wear and tear them up to this point. They have a great rotation to give other rb's snaps and keep them healthy.
I agree with this. I think the coaches knew coming into this season that the front end of their schedule wasn't great and they wouldn't need to put a heavy load on Corum and Edwards to win games. Now with 3 games left, against their best competition, you might see a ground and pound running game similar to how they played last year. Their running backs are fresh and haven't been called on to run the ball 40 times a game to win. Additionally, JJ is improved over last year, so he can be relied on much more if Penn State loads the box and commits to stopping the run. Other additional factors that I think are important are that Michigan hasn't had to show it's entire playbook on film because of the marginal competition they have played, meaning they probably have a bunch of plays saved for their best competition, that being Penn State and Ohio State in these last 3 games of the season. Plus, Michigan got to see their biggest two competitors on film prior to them having play each of those teams, when Penn State played Ohio State. All advantages in my opinion, but you still have to go out and execute and win the games.

You want an apt comparison, compare Michigan against Indiana with Penn State against Indiana. Michigan destroyed Indiana 52-7, while Penn State was tied with them in Happy Valley with 2-minutes left in the game, and managed a scoring drive and a safety to pull away. The same Indiana team, just one week later, beat the “gritty” Wisconsin team Ohio State was still bragging about beating.
The whole narrative of Michigan’s record dissolves when you look at shared opponents.

I totally agree. If either team can run the ball well, that's probably the difference. But I don't expect either team to be able to do that. So, it is going likely boil down to which QB can get first downs for his team. So far, I haven't seen that from Allar. But I know how he was recruited. I know he has that in him. Will he show it this weekend? Or will we not see it until next season? Don't know. We will find out.

He brings in the recruits and wins 10 games a year… Pretty good numbers if you ask me now the fact that he can’t beat Ohio State or Michigan or a top 10 team is a trend that he needs to change but there are lots of coaches like that. He’s just happens to be in the spotlight of the scrutiny right now. One thing I will say is that he does not seem to develop players at the level you would think they should be… If you are bringing in a top five class almost every year I don’t know it’s just they’re not turning out Nfl talent nearly as much as, you think should be
If you look at the big picture, he has a top 10 program that is in a great place on the national landscape. The problem is there are two very clear hurdles that he needs to get over, and history has shown he doesn't seem to be able to do that. Maybe that will change, I hope it does, but I would have to see it to believe it.

Lot of people here seem to think college football started in 2021, these teams are 6-6 in the last 12 matchups. Even the 2021 game was a 4 point margin. Should be a good one.
Yes, psu usually plays Michigan tough, but 2022 Michigan was the most talented MI team in 20 years. The 2023 team is even better and is the deepest team in the B10 and maybe/probably CFB. Easily the most talented MI team in my lifetime.
Don't think same can be said for psu. Only way Michigan loses is of they beat themselves with penalties and turnovers, 2 things they haven't done in 3 years outside the TCU game.

Michigan was elite last year and has only gotten better with the exception of the run game. That being said after rewatching old games we had similar number of stopped or short runs last year. We were running so much because we couldn’t rely on JJ as much and because of that there were more opportunities for breakout runs.

Among coaches contending for the playoffs, he has the most atrocious record against Top 25 opponents, and especially against Top 10 teams. Because of this, anytime he comes up against any of the major powers in the postseason, he comes up short! Because opponent teams (like TCU) have enough time to change their play signs in the post-season, Harbaugh is not able to cheat, and he gets blown out every time he steps in the postseason. How in the hell can you call such program elite?
