Been trying out some of the programs on it. It only shows the 1/4 mile circuit page instead of a video of the area of the run/walk selected. Any ideas why this is happening?
If you do a manual start exercise then it defaults to the track 1/4 mile circuit page. If you go to the create selection at the bottom of the page at the Home Screen then you can create a place to workout and then get screens from it on your screen. Another way is to create a exercise from the iPad and then save it and then find the saved exercise in your calendar, then just select the workout you created and then enjoy google street view of the map run you created.
@@JonathanLovelace does this fix it for all programs? For example the Yosemite walk. Will we be able to see the actual views of Yosemite instead of the circuit?
Yes. If you create an exercise through Yosemite in either the create feature on your screen from the create button at the home screen, then after saving the exercise you created it will automatically come up to start the workout. If for some reason it does not show your saved workout then go to calendar and select the workout from the name that you gave it in the create function. I just tried it out on three workouts and this is working with no problems on mine. It automatically starts the workout after I save it in the create feature and then I see scenes from google street view. There have been times I created a workout in the create feature that didn’t have images from google street view. Some trails are on google street view, but if you want to always have view then you might have to pick streets instead so you can have actual street views. It shows images that are on google street view and updates as you move forward. Not a video but a slide for slide as you move forward. Although the typography will automatically adjust to the elevation of the street you selected. Now I have created workouts on trails and I remember doing Yosemite half dome and then another in sequoia national forest but I also did a walk in the campground at Yosemite and then there is plenty to do around the Grand Canyon. If you want a video of the Grand Canyon I know Tommy Rivs and John Peel each did a series on that. Hope this helps and you get to enjoy some extra scenery to exercise to.
I've also been able to create hikes in trails that are indicated on Google Maps! My question is once the trail is saved to "My Library," how can I delete it out of there? I made a mistake on a couple and they're clogging it up
It’s stored in your calendar workouts. You’ll have to go back through your calendar and delete it there. Once you find the workout in your calendar, then click on it as if you were going to do the workout and then there is a trash can icon on the upper right of the screen. Press the trash can and it will ask if you want to delete and there will be a comment that it can’t be undone and just proceed with deleting and then the workout is removed. Takes some time but it will clear out the old workouts you don’t want. Wish there was an easier solution but I only know of this one. It might be faster to do this through the app on your phone and go back through your calendar that way. The phone is generally more responsive and the task might be faster.
will the treadmill then automatically incline and decline as per the elevation if you are syncing with google maps? (i have a proform 5000 smart trainer being delivered, just curious. i don't care about what it looks like/seeing the actual scenery as i know where i'm running, i just want to practice with the elevation changes as it's a hilly race i want to map out).
Yes, the treadmill changes with the typography of the street you are running on automatically. You can always override it if you want to though to make it steeper if desired to be even better for the race or make the race feel less than what you trained for.
Hey 👋🏻 I haven’t tried connecting zwift but I doubt seriously if it would automatically connect. The machine is either a stand alone incline trainer with the controls and a few programs, or get a subscription to iFit to then have map runs and video workouts that change the speed and typography for you. The create a map run is inside the iFit software.
@@JonathanLovelace Thanks for reply. For me personaly when some Brand is "pushing" to buy subscription when you already have a product looks not realy amazing, because they care about money first and then about clients. Even if its a good product)) Just looking for something not too expensive till 2000$, but with good base. So I will not stuck to subscription after one year)) Thanks!
Kapitan Amerika you don’t have to buy the one year subscription to iFit to use your incline trainer. It’s a really cool feature you can add on but you don’t have to if you choose not to have it. I think the value is worth it and purchased another year after my subscription ran out.
I don’t know for certain as I’ve always had a subscription, but when I create a map from my phone or tablet, then I go to the iFit website. The create a map feature is also on the machine but I imagine that it is part of the iFit software. It’s a nice feature as I just created a cycle ride in Greece and as I ride the screen will update from the google map database. Something has to drive the on screen movement and I think it is the iFit software that allows the create a map to work with the devices.
Dee Ann Poole hey 👋🏻 thanks for watching. If you are on a computer you just click with the mouse and it puts a drop point. If you are on an iPad like me then just tap the screen where you want a drop point. It’s really easy and if you need to undo a drop point there is an undo button, but it just undoes the last thing you did. Hope that helps! Happy Running! ❤️😁🏃🏻♂️
Great idea. Not sure if you can do that though, as I have never tried to. I have saved workouts. And maybe a saved workout will show up on different equipment. I bet if you did pull a saved workout up on a different machine that it would want you to start from the beginning though. Try it out though. It would be neat if you could.
Yes, if google maps goes there then there is a path you can walk/jog on. Create it then save it to your favorites to revisit when you want or create new beach walks in other places. Search the world and find a beach you haven’t been to and walk/jog it.
Only the 2017-2018 models have an hdmi outlet. I just so happened to get one of the last 2018 models in December that year. I have heard older models that used to play though tablets work well with TVs as they can mirror the image on a tv through Apple TV or RoKu or some other mirroring app.
@@JonathanLovelace You chose well. I love the Ifit program but am extremely disappointed that Nordictrack eliminated the HDMI outlet on the newer treadmills. I'm quite sure its because they want to upsell us to their $3,000 22" screen. Thank you for your reply.
Question: Is it possible to upload a gpx file to be used as running route? Example: I like running in the mountains, I want to create training program to help me run a 4 mile trail that I really enjoy running but want to replicate that elevation profile and distance to be able to do it on my treadmill during bad weather or times when I just cannot get out to the trailhead. I can use an app like Caltopo to create the route and then export the route as a GPX file to be able to upload to Ifit. Is that possible?
If it’s on google earth as a route in blue, where you have street view, then yes. Anywhere that is street view on google earth, you can run those routes. I’ve found trails on google earth street view, but maybe not the specific trail you are looking at running.
Make sure in settings/ in workout/ max treadmill speed is set to your desired speed, but I think the treadmill just slows down as a safety precaution and I don’t know how to change that.
I’ve always just scheduled them, but I wonder what would happen if I just don’t enter a date to run the map. Good question! I’ll have to play around with it and get back to you. I normally run with the iFit trainers and haven’t created a lot of map runs recently. I think I remember being able to go back and run the same course but I’ll retry and see how I did it. Maybe just going back in my history or saving as a favorite. More news later.
Is there any way to create a cross country map? I'd love to run from california to new york for example, where I could start and resume it at different times, but it doesn't seem like that's possible. Any long distance like that it tells me exceeds the max running distance
I love the way you think, and it is possible but you would have to put in much more work at the moment creating multiple maps that connect the distance. You could save these multiple maps in your favorites and as you run and complete them you could take them out of your favorites. It might help to also choose names with numerical values as you move through the workouts. The good thing is since it will take you multiple days, to weeks to complete this journey, then the rush on having the last map or middle map complete at the moment is not necessary. You could start by creating 3 or 4 runs and post workout could be exploring the future run maps and creating them. Since that is quite the epic journey then maybe in a few weeks when you are running middle America you might want to change the roads for better views. The options are almost endless as there are so many roads from here to there. You could also be the first to create these runs and it would be neat if you could make that public for others to follow you. Happy trails! Sounds like a great adventure!
For whatever reason its not creating the whole map.. I put it all in save but half the run gets cut off? I've tried updating the app everything .. any tip or possibly seen this before?
I’m so sorry your having issues with it. I haven’t had those same issues. I just press the create and draw my map and save it. Then run the route. I wonder if you are updated on software or need to turn off and back on and try again. Maybe you are not creating the map on roads and it doesn’t recognize the route. Try just doing a route that is a google street route like a main road. Trails don’t always work. If it is in google street maps then the road is able to be ran in the create feature. Hope this helps.
I just drew a map from my iPad app and the first point I just pick a road and then the second point I went on a trail and saw there was a view on the left hand side of the screen so I created a few more points and each time there was a view so I imagine the trail will be fine when I try it out tomorrow. That sucks you keep having issues. My only issue is sometimes the incline gets off and I have to take it to -6 and then back to what the trainer is doing. That’s my only issue.
Oh Yes! I actually have two videos showing that. One is titled iFit on Nordictrack X11i and the other is Nordictrack X11i with iFit. They are prerecorded series through different places around the world. There are different trainers and I’m sure there is someone there that you seem to connect with. There are walks, hikes, runs, however really and the machine adjusts automatically although if you need to change any adjustments you can manually override the program and still follow along at your own pace, being faster or slower. iFit keeps adding more and more series too.
Thanks, but not clear on what the blue dots are? Sometimes I can find dozens and dozens of blue dots but no blue lines. Maybe a blue dot represents a single isolated photo instead of a chain of them creating a route?
Very true! That’s what I’ve come to understand as well, that a blue dot is an isolated picture. Better to look for the blue lines if wanting to make a run.
I have this treadmill and I would not recommend it. After only having it 10 weeks the belt stopped working. It's covered by warranty but parts and a service tech takes about 6-8 weeks. The treadmill also runs really loudly. So get some noise cancelling headphones to wear and ask everyone else to leave the room. Overall the quality seems really poor. Go with Peloton instead.
I’m sorry you are having trouble with your treadmill. Sounds like it’s going to get fixed through the warranty but 6-8 weeks isn’t acceptable, Nordictrack needs to do better than that. I haven’t experienced any of what you are going through so I hope you get your treadmill fixed sooner than expected and then have the same great experience that I enjoy everyday.

While google maps has lots of trails and places you wouldn’t even think has been mapped yet, there are still places that haven’t been mapped and therefore wouldn’t be able to pull up on map runs.
It has worked on some trials but not all trails. If google maps street view goes there then yes it has that trail that will automatically adjust, although some trails have got weird on over adjusting so just try several out and see.
