Sometimes its easy to forget why im chasing this whole ‘music thing’ but experiences like this help me remember. Pure joy and inspiration. Thank you guys!
within a small group setting, its def one of my favorites. Big band is a lil different so i count that as a different flavor of this song. But overall, this is an amazing recording with fresh language and fresh takes and is one of the best out there
Yikes - double-time alto at this tempo! Bird Reincarnates in the covid era! Fat/dark trumpet sound - like Fats Navarro channeled. Freely propulsive and melodic drums throughout but dang, that solo! Emmet comps, extending/sequencing boldly - blazing solo!
Jazz at its finest. Pure magic just keeps happening in that livingroom. Just saw the Emmet trio here on Long Island at the wonderfully intimate* Jazz Loft, it was a total blast! *SO intimate that I actually bumped into Emmet at the stairway between the upper and lower levels- so I told him how much I enjoyed his playing, and he said he appreciated it.
I do be jealous, I really want to go to a session at some point. So many great nights have been recorded here since covid, honestly the quality coming from here is insane.
WOAH WOAH EMMET SHOWED UP TO THE JAZZ LOFT???? dude i literally go there for jam sessions every week, if youre reading this and live anywhere on long island GO TO THEM. theyre so much fun, even if you dont play!
Don’t shame me. I just finished watching Ken Burns Jazz series. Frigging life changing. Depressed when it ended. And then these guys show up on my fb feed. I’ve played piano all my life. I teach piano. A new dimension has opened up for me. This stuff is other worldly. Thank you guys for making this magic available to us. ♥️♥️♥️🎶🔥
The more I hear this saxoplayer player the more I think of Cats like Charlie Parker and Cannonball Adderly. It's because of dedicated young men like these beautiful brothers that jazz will never die. Keep The Faith. Dedicated to my brother and mentor, Johnny O'Neal Jr. "Tony Rodrigues."
A big shout out to Emmet Cohen who gave 2 amazing performances at our Gala Thursday night! I am a big fan and so are a lot of other people since Thursday! Thanks so much! Will keep following and hopefully be able to have you join an event again soon!
Emmet, wonderful "bouquet" of great musicians. Totally amazing version. Remember our Montreal meeting with big pleasure. Continue to make Jazz Great again!
The best version of Night in Tunisia I ever heard, or at least the most exciting ! I imagine Patrick had listened to Dolphy just before this great session. Cause of you l'm not going to sleep and practice my guitar instead. You are sorcerers. Many thanks for this big thrill !!! Greatings from Paris 🇫🇷, you all are an awesome team !
As a huge fan of Emmets Place, I know I saw this the first time around, but it is just so incredible.. I love to see how much these superb musicians appreciate each other’s playing during their solos.. their mutual admiration is well deserved ❤️🎶😊
The whole band is really good. I love the energy of the bass and the bass playing in addition to everything else. The piano solo was very musical and quite interesting as well. Drumming is live. Wow. Trumpet solo sounded good. Sax was nuts.
Simply the best.. Can't wait until aprile Emmet will play in ruhr aera, Germany in Duisburg ... I will be there, I know I will be flashed.. Great musicians
These guys sound the same (I am not being disrespectful they are talented) as the the Art Blakey Quintet Live at Birdland album. Night in Tunisia . Clifford Brown, Lou Donaldson, Art Blakey, Curly Russell and Horace Silver. The guy on Alto wow Eric Dolphy and a Lou Donaldson. I am from South Africa and I am an jazz lover
Outstanding all around simply EPIC in a tube that's been around you cats made it all brand new now present and for anybodies tomorrow love it truly best ever in my book and I heard over 1000 different versions of it congrats well done fantastic band as a unit all are tremendous musicians I truly enjoyed thank you God bless from my heart and soul!
Sou CLEUMA GOULART. Valeu essa “noite em Tunísia “. Hoje estou curtindo, como curtiram!!!!!! A bateria improvisou com uma batida de samba, joia!!! Valeu!!!! (RJ/Brasil/2021)
Lordy, lordy lordy …… how wonderful. Jazz: American contribution to civilization born from a terrible history of slavery……. There we go…Miss Jenny (music theory teacher, Manhattan). Thank you gentlemen.

I was pretty sure there would never be a band as cool as Miles' second quintet - seems I have to change my mind.
Love how he reps the dizzy for president button
My god this sax players soloing is so good. So melodic
Love those out of tune growls and squeaks too haha 🔥

I hear a lot of Sonny Stitt in the alto. Killin.
The control the saxplayer has over them lips is unbeliavable!

I love the glass of water shaking in the bottom right corner anytime it goes to the close-up of Patrick.
