Interestingly enough, Akechi was initially going to get a palace in early P5 development and he was supposed to represent the sin of Acedia (Emptiness). I’m still looking into this, and listening to this theme boosts my imagination on what his palace would look like.

An Akechi palace would be so amazing, it'd be cool if they kept the idea- but the way things currently are is also good

I’ve seen a few ideas on what Akechi’s palace might have looked like, but my favorite interpretation will always be child Akechi in a mansion waiting for the PT to attend his birthday party

This gives me a 17th century vibe. I’d imagine Akechi’s palace as an old village in the middle of a witch hunt. The Phantom Thieves are seen as witches going against Akechi, who’s worshiped as the only thing the townsfolk can look towards to help them. A judge, the ultimate form of justice, bringing down his own twisted form of law into his trials. The villagers are the shadows you encounter. Faceless, just there to bring the adoration Akechi wants.

Dude I think this is so much better than the more popular one. It really captures his essence and fits the style of the game (and is it just me or can I hear little bits of Will Power in there?). I can hear the applause of the audience full of shadows, I can see a puppet on a glamorous stage, acting out the solo performance he wrote for himself, a well-practiced dance that's just teetering on the edge of unsettling... Simultaneously the star of his own show and a disaster of his own making. Love this!

Sounded like an actual theme that wa sin the game and I was confused if Akechi had a palace or not because this theme sounded like a perfect theme and then I realized that this was fanmade. Atlus should've put this into Persona 5 Royal. You cannot change my mind.

    • @lumensd
      @lumensd 4 ปีที่แล้ว +8

Yes, it's clipped from different sections. Most of them I recognize as being from when he walks up to Joker at the train station, and most of the second half is from Niijima's Palace arc.

To me, he seems like the person that would have a jail in Persona 5 Strikers instead of a palace. I mean, it's pretty freakin' obvious.
I don't have many ideas on what his jail could be, maybe an orchestra or a theater, like others say. A living hell is another option, which is a common way to perceive something. A murder mystery/crime scene is also plausible, while he's the leading detective (but really he's the murderer).
His keyword would probably be... well... I have no idea, to be honest. Maybe 'Detective' because I like the murder mystery idea I just came up with.
His three treasures would probably be... honestly I don't know. I don't think he treasured anything from what I remember, but if he did, please let me know, lol. I think maybe the first time he was announced as the Detective Prince, like a newspaper or a magazine - if he ever was in one - ? I don't know-
I don't know how his fight would go, but I think he would turn into this demon-looking figure with contorted anatomy and just so demonic-looking, the color scheme contradicting between the fake life and his real self. I don't know, I'm just speculating here.

Place: The Metaverse (Where his powers are used)
Distortion: Police Station (Because Akechi believes what he's doing is Justice, at least to some undeniable degree)

I hate Akechi's guts, but I'm sure we can all agree that Akechi SHOULD have had a palace. The entire game he's not only set up as the antithesis of the Phantom Thieves but the corrupted mirror of Joker. I've seen people toss around the idea of his Palace being a theater, which works both thematically for the game and due to the fact that he's a sleazebag constantly masking his insecure blackened soul with more appealing personalities on live TV. If I had a say in the plot I would have Shido as the 5th Palace, have him use Wakaba's research to survive a mental shutdown Akechi tried to cause him, and then blame the Phantom Thieves so they're motivated to visit Sae's Palace for legal help. Shido's Cruise would be swapped with Greed for his Deadly Sin, because honestly Shido's such a bland villain that being "greedy for control and more support" still fits him just as well as Pride does. Akechi also wouldn't fight you there, his relation to Shido would be teased through phone calls + the assassination and confirmed in Akechi's actual Palace. Haru would join you due to her forced marriage being a part of Okumura Foods's plan to gain political power with Shido's election, and Okumura would be a Mementos sidequest during Haru's Confidant.
Akechi's Palace would instead take the futuristic aesthetic from Okumura's Palace, because the setting was sick and we need a future tech-like Palace besides the Tomb of Wrath. So I propose that his Palace is a sickeningly gaudy, futuristic space theater atop a beautiful moon, constantly orbiting Earth and being noticed for all of its beautiful lights. Throughout the Palace you see this smug, egotistical fool in the form of a crystalline, rainbow machine dancing for the masses. Performing on stage, projected throughout the moon colony with screens, the constant sight of this attention-hungry assassin elegantly dancing as if they're a beautiful god. And they never shut up, either, constantly inviting you over to bask in their glory and let them entertain you.
But once you get to the dark side of the moon, the entire terrain is made of electronic waste. Broken televisions, snapped circuits, all drifting upwards like space junk tethered to crystallized corpses of these robo-Akechis. It's not long until through some broken radios and shattered screens, you see the real Shadow Akechi: a shambled, broken mess of metal scraps cloaked in dirt and oil. Through their tired, malfunctioning voice they try directing you from the "backstage" because it's not "a part of the show." Eventually, as these pleas go unheard, he becomes emotionally exhausted and has to "exit the stage for an intermission." It's then when you see this tiny body hauling the body you saw dancing on the light side of the moon backstage, and it turns out to be MASSIVE. It's the size of a building and he's hauling it back by himself to help it recharge. The Phantom Thieves soon realize that these robo-Akechis attached to the waste are the exhuasted husks of Akechi, sick of living a lie just for the sake fo his fragile ego, and that they're swapped out every intermission. Through manipulating the massive charging station, which is attached to the e-waste jungle, the Phantom Thieves crawl inside the hollow colossus that is this rainbow robot of elegance. The rest of the Palace is Shadow Akechi going haywire trying to handle the situation, constantly switching from speaking through the mech to calm down the audience, and screaming at the Phantom Thieves for ripping apart the body he's hiding in. It's not long before they stumble across his Treasure: a pitch-black crystal where his brain should be, one side shining blinding light and one side absorbing silhouettes of his previous robo-Akechi bodies.
Upon crashing the show for good during their heist and Akechi telling them everything, no longer having any faces left to hide behind, he realizes something: he's been managing so many identities, so many bodies, that he has several different cognitive perceptions of HIMSELF. And these other perceptions can't accept the fact that they're not the true Akechi, that they all exist due to his own insecurities. The broken-down Shadow Akechi and his fake cognitive counterparts decide that his audience knowing the truth would forever bring indignity to the reputation he drained himself to grow, and so the criminal behind the mental shutdowns is given a mental shutdown at the hands of his own superficial masks.
Once the Phantom Thieves escape, before gaining their bearings over what they've seen, they realize that the Treasure seems to have not materialized with them physically...
And then they look on their phones and see a copy of the Metanav, installed right as they exited his Palace. The one freedom he ever had.
And that is my idea for Akechi's Palace, the Satellite of Pride.
I may hate this character but that doesn't mean I haven't lamented way too many times before that they didn't make him better. Hence, this massive comment.
