That said there may be a part of him that does think like that in some way. Maybe he’s just scared if shadows, or the meta verse, or your idea. But it likely isn’t fully him.

One thing I noticed is when Joker’s affected by something, it seems like Akechi talking directly to the player, like “Jokers frozen in place!” Or “Jokers burnt, that’s gotta hurt.” or something like that. I found that kinda interesting.
It's like he knows the difference between the player and Joker...
He is talking to the team that is supposed to be there, they just didnt make different dialogues for when they are alone
Well him and joker look at the player in the bad ending...
Akechi & Akira know about the player, its seen in the Bad Royal Ending as well as the conversation before it.
