One correction from the video. It said the throttle is located in the center so both pilots can use. Actually, B-1 is set up like a fighter. There is another set of throttles on the left of the pilot. So both pilot and co-pilot fly with the Right hand and control the throttle with their Left.
Several decades ago, a friend of mine in the Air Force flew on a B1 bomber. He loved it! The Bone can fly supersonic right off the deck and strike anything, anywhere on the planet.
One correction from the video. It said the Lancer is a variable swept-wing bomber, which means it can change the angle of attack of its wings. Acutally, it should be the sweep angle of its wings correspondingly that are changed.
Miss working on aircrafts! Our crew used to test turbine engines and install them on the aircraft. To bad the job didn’t last that long after 9/11 🙁 Great video 👍
Would've been nice to have been able to have sat in the cockpit for the ride to its new home, and yes I would've ask for a helmet just to complete the fantasy and all.
... I gaze absorbed at this cockpit of the B1, likewise the one of the B52, I am ecstatic... I love complex cockpits... it is for me like visually enjoying the naked body of Miss Universe...Wow... What a great delight, even more so for those who fly it... a hug for everyone, greetings from Colombia and... good winds...👍 👍 👍 ...
Awesome jet. People don't realize planes, especially effective, well maintained and reliable military aircraft don't age like cars do. There are actually many benefits to much of the mechanical instrumentation as it is a lot more resistant to electronic warfare or EMPs. Reliability is key. Relying purely on a few fancy LCD screens and losing all instrumentation because of an EMP or battery/electrical issues is a risk the USAF can't afford. This is a big reason why the military still uses B-52s and B-1s because they not only still get the job done but replacing them would take a very long time and would cost enormous sums of money. Not to mention the new designs will have numerous teething issues, sometimes as long as a decade from first flight (think F-22 and F-35) before being truly front line combat ready. Old is gold when it comes to strategic bombers in particular. China and Russia's strategic bomber backbones are decades old as well. Just military reality that if something works, and works well, it's entirely counterproductive to replace it with an unknown quantity. Especially such an important part of the nuclear triad. Plus these jets are constantly upgraded "under the hood" and their functions are cutting edge and state of the art despite the presence of many mechanical instruments that people get stuck on looking at. Can't judge a book by its cover. It's the contents that matter. The fact that the B-52s will be flying until the 2040s-2050s is a testament to designers, engineers and airmen that keep them flying. These jets are more important than ever in a new era of so called "great power conflict". The pentagon's new favorite phrase. Long live the bone!
I saw the front, and as a spoiled 4th/5th gen fighter simmer, was appaled at the lack of glass. Then saw the backseat was basically Max Headroom, the MOS, and was soothed.
Why the headline regarding the B1B when the bulk of the video is about the B-52 and cargo planes and air refueling? There are thousands of videos on air refueling, planes taking off, landing and arming. 😅 Do we need more of the same? I guess it’s good for recruiting.
I’ve worked on every b1 b in the active fleet pretty crazy to include this one here and I can say sitting on the ground the are nasty leak like a fork being used to eat soup but there is nothing like standing next to a b1 taking off especially when they do a hot air space take wheels up full military power blows the blue rings out and is loud like you can only understand if you experienced it
The B-2 is currently the most feared bomber. The B-1 will be retired very quickly when the B-21 reaches full production, and eventually so will the B-2.
At approximately the 3:05 mark, it says the pilots main function is, blah blah blah…when I always thought the pilots ‘main function’ was flying the damn plane. Boy, I have been wrong all of these years.
The bone's variable sweep wings do NOT change the "angle of attack". They change. The "angle of sweep". Two wing geometry considerations only distantly related, like ailerons, elevators, & rudder.
That's never good when the crew is watching the maintenance folks. That means you're busted and the clock is ticking. I've been there on both sides as a Crew Chief and as a Flight Engineer.
By the late 80’s the B-1b was already obsolete and considered mostly a one way trip against any near peer enemy. It’s only accomplishments are dropping a massive amount of weapons on terrorists who have little to no anti air, and some combat seen in the first Iraq war (after most of Sadam’s air defenses were defeated)

Either way Im very very proud of our Military and love watching these videos

3:31 variable swept-wing changes the wing sweep angle, not the angle of attack.

When the B-52's take off from my city, Bossier City, LA. And it's a real mission, somebody has an ass whooping coming.
Amazing

Most wicked B1B
A beautiful aircraft.
06:22, what is the small pod on the left between the two engines pods?
LITENING targeting pod if I were to guess.
I'm pretty sure the last "F" in BUFF for the B-52, doesn't mean "Fellow".
you would be correct.🤫

Almost! The original name BUFF had no words resembling Fellow in iy!

There’s two sets of throttles, center is for right seat, the pilots is on then left side panel.

No, JOVIAL, an ALGOL 58 derivative.
I think I'm going to press the wrong button.
When will they upgrade the engines to be faster.

The B-1 was literally the MOST used bomber in the last several conflicts.
