The first commercial company that is capable of sending people into low earth orbit is SpaceX, which is Elon Musk's space exploration enterprise.
Apart from the fact that Elon has led them to accomplish things that were previously thought to be impossible. The first stage of their Falcon 9 rocket, for example, can be launched, landed, and reused several times. Let us take a look at one undertaking that SpaceX might be able to accomplish in the future that, at the moment, appears to be either impossible or extremely implausible, to put it simply.
A space station in low earth orbit that is equipped with artificial gravity generated by centrifugal forces that is scheduled to be finished around the year 2035 would be considered a remarkable achievement.

The reasons why Elon Musk might desire such a station or why he does not want such a station are not going to be discussed in this episode. Only for the purpose of determining whether or not it would fall within the realm of possibilities and within the scope of SpaceX's future capabilities is this thought experiment being conducted.
Before we can move forward with the construction of such a space station with artificial gravity of this magnitude, we must first identify the most difficult aspect of the project.
We believe that the most significant obstacle would be to transport that substantial quantity of mass to low earth orbit (LEO) in the most cost-effective manner that is feasible.
Elon Musk and his crew at SpaceX are, fortunately, working on this first difficulty practically around the clock .
It is anticipated that SpaceX will have its Starship Cargo/tanker variant operating by the year 2025. After that, the crew of the starship will follow. Initially, Starship cargo will be able to transport 100 metric tons to low-Earth orbit (LEO), with the potential to transport 150 metric tons after Starship is completely optimized, which is likely to occur between one and two years after the first operational version of Starship has flown.
Consequently, the initial components of the station may be carried up to LEO by the year 2026, which would be the point at which construction could begin. On the other hand, let us not get ahead of ourselves, especially considering that Elon's approach is probably not going to be like this.
For the purpose of bringing such a project to reality, let us outline the several phases that are considered to be the most significant.
Research and Development ( R&D)
Research and development, is the initial step of every large-scale building project, regardless of whether it is being carried out on earth or beyond.

These plans make me believe that the colonization plans are serious. Without a station over head (and a pretty large one) for logistical staging/ resupply, R&R from surface life (which would suck), some way to handle emergencies/capacity to handle emergencies, safer conditions for rarer specialties (like doctors, highly trained people who don't need to be in danger are people you don't want in danger) colonizing anything is not realistic. Not if you want your colonists to live long.
Once you get the space station, you hit the unfortunate next question, what do you get out of building on the surface of mars versus just building larger stations that are purpose built for human habitation (as opposed to a planet we're not evolved to survive on). I think space stations are a good idea, and I think that's where your colony is. The earth is a space station, every other planet is just a space station that's not build to support us.
Now that NASA doesn’t have so much on their plates these days with SPACEX picking up most of their slack, maybe NASA could address the problem of world hunger.

These are not space stations. They are space warehouses and assembly units, both of which are still more valuable to the long term successful fulfillment of various and sundry missions. The warehousing of all supplies in space, and not on terra firma whether alien or not, makes perfect sense. It's a consistent environment, much easier to manage, control and move at will.
Living and working on the surface of planets will require fifty to two hundred years of experiential knowledge and emergency preparedness for known evolving situations and unknowns. Soon the novelty of living on the surface will wear off when we find ourselves constantly dealing with the emotional stress of knowing our space suit or oxygen supply are all that keeps us less than a minute away from death. Living on a space station can extend survival time to days, weeks, or even months, when networks of stations become our reality.
We should try to think in broader terms, like this is our own very unique solar system.
