I worked on towers for 10 years. If you wanted to reach that 300 foot mark to fix the tiles you’d need to get a man basket attachment for a crane (looks like a small metal grated telephone booth.) Last I knew one of the biggest man lifts they make is the JLG superboom and it only goes to 185’. Those are extremely scary by the way. When you’re up there they sway back and forth like 15 feet in even the slightest wind and when you come down after a full day you feel like the ground is swaying underneath you. It’s a very interesting feeling. I’d imagine they destack unless they have that crane attachment.
@alexlabs4858 I think the white lifting boom goes over 90 meters, not sure if it would reach the tile area though.
@@dogbreath6974 You are right, they can reach the top of a booster standing on top of the launch table which means like 300 feet.
I think they might just fly it with those missing tiles. They are positioned where a burn-through will not hamper the mission because they aren't using those engines to land. I bet they've got them all instrumented up and cameras pointed at them from the inside and so on. You must remember: they aren't building a one-off rocket. They are designing a product to be reproduced in quantity. It is always best to discover your faults and weaknesses in the design phase, rather than once the product is in production. I'm not sure about rockets, but in most manufacturing the general rule is that it costs ten times as much to catch a problem in production than in design, and it costs ten times as much to catch a problem in live use than in production.
Plus, the ship survived quite a bit of reentry with that plasma washing over it's unprotected top surfaces. That would sure make me want to know just how much the skin can take. I doubt that these missing tiles will cause a mission failure, but I bet there's a lot they can learn from flying without them.
Great presentation Adrian! Thanks to the entire NSF team!
Got jbaited by a spacex “live update” posting replay of flight 1 as a live 😤 glad to have a real update.
I’ve been flagging those videos frequently lately. Google clearly can’t be bothered to prevent them.
@@johndaily263YT do nothing, they're more concerned about deleting people's comments.
"spaceX" aka a hacked YT channel renamed to spaceX to show rocket launch replay for an hour to draw in viewers, then switch to AI generated Musk speech promoting a crypto scam. This has been a thing for years, and YT/Google doesn't care, they put the blame on the channels for not securing their accounts properly.
Google: We don't want disinformation...
Also Google: This one weird trick...
@@Codysdab They're deleting these channels though, they barely last a day, the problem is that more keep popping out
The wet dress rehersal pause was a count down hold test, they figured they could hold a fully fueled stacked vehicle for 30 minutes without having to perform an abort or detank. They wanted to verify they actually had that ability, since any temporary obstruction to the launch can take more than 30 minutes to clear, like a boat off in the danger area, they don't have to resort to immediatly aborting and detanking to try another day. Improving reliablility of launches.
Let's go IFT-4! 🚀
Thanks Adrian and NSF team, can't wait for the launch.
I am so ready for flight 4
Great poster!!! No fluff or out right lies like "GREAT SPACEX" does. Had to subscribe!!!👌
Agreed… I hate filler you tubers
Great update ! Danke NSF 🙏
Thanks Adrian and the team!
Here we go! Excitement GUARANTEED!!!
Well done Adrian! ^^
Yay! We love you Adrian. Thanks for the update
As always, great information!
Well done, thank you
Thank you Adrian for a great Starbase Update! Also Thank you NSF, & all your staff for all the hard work they put in every day!!!
So if the time frames work out, flight 4 gets flown, then the maintenance to the pad and tower start along with flight 5 preps, and at that same time tower 3 gets fully stacked within the two months or so flight 5 flies. Then we could have flight 6 and 7 which would be the end of v1 starships (maybe it’s a long shot) fly back to back. I’m just not sure how long it would take to plum the tower 3 tank farm and to get it all online. But if they could do something like that would be so cool. Like I said I think it’s a long shot… but maybe it’s on the table.. by the end of the year if they would do that but I think that tower 1 will launch the rest of version 1 starships and hopefully a successful catch, that caught booster… I think booster 13
Lets do this.YES!
Lets goo!!
Cheers for that.
AWESOME!!!
Adrian 👋👋thanks for the update. 🙂
Huzzah! Testang!
I'm not surprised about Dear Moon
how is everyone i haven't been on here in a while great job
thx
Good presentation dude. Enjoyed it a lot
Remember that the Shuttle Atlantis survived reentry with almost 100 tiles list due to falling ice. Columbia had fewer lost tiles but they were on the leading edge of the wings where the temperature exposure is much greater and the exposed hull was aluminum, not steel.
Good job, Adrian. Excellent speaking.
Hey 👋😊 NASA
yay
The launch window opens at 07 or 12 (UTC), looks good for me if it is in June 6th, it's the only day that I can see the launch at that time (without counting weekend obviously)😂
Perhaps the tiles are missing to see how their loss affects the ship on reentry. They could start to test extreme possibilities.
NASA is not Go For Launch, SpaceX is a Go For Launch
mars you're so far away from me i just cant see
And where are you when the sun go down?
You're so far away from me
Best of Luck to Starship, Elon Musk,, SpaceX, and all workers! Spread your wings and fly, Starship 4!!!!
Was very surprised they lifted ship before ALL tiles were finished. I don't question their motives/actions as they know what they are doing just an odd move. Still cant wait for IFT 4!!
Maybe those tiles were delayed by the USPS?
i think x needs to add some mobile servicing arms for the upper part of the tower surprised that the new tower doesn't appear to have extended sections as newer versions of SS are supposed to be taller
Good job Adrian!!
I like Adrian.😊
The missing tiles are likely sensor locations. Perhaps battery powered so they’ll fit those very close to the launch or the sensor are not ready yet.
Yo yo yo from UK 🇬🇧 I thought if was live LOL😅
That first sentence 😂
In solidarity with stayliner, they will scrub launch for 3:50 before launching.
Jack!!!!!
30 min hold could’ve been a pressure test or readings test
I wonder if it would be possible to make a slightly bigger version of crew Dragon… a “Dragon XL” of sorts… for moon missions or missions with more crew…
Dragon xl is planned but for cargo supply to gateway
I think SpaceX is going to leave ULA in the dust.
I did not know Curious Droid had a son!
I think they intentionally left those tiles off to see how the stainless skin would react upon reentry, this is after all a test vehicle is it not
How stupid.
@@archieolmstead6688- It's a legitimate theory given the location of the missing tiles which if burned through wouldn't result in a loss of the vehicle.
This is the second time i saw the removal of the letter 'M' from the Gateway to Mars sign. I wonder what it say's now.
Curious why Starship and Booster have engine relight problems, yet Falcon9 and FH do not? Any physics related thoughts on the matter?🤔
It’s called experience. They stack and re stack and gain data and experience
Reason for scheduling change would be starliner being rescheduled to 5 June it will require the nasa high altitude aircraft, as will spacex
The WB-57 wasn't at flight 3 so SpaceX might not need it any more. Even if they wanted it they've shown they wouldn't delay the launch (I think it was the first flight 1 attempt that had a maintenance issue come up)
Starliner has nothing to do with the reschedule. Marine notices indicated the launch had slipped well before Starliner was scrubbed. Heck the astronauts were not even awake when the new notices had come out, just to put it in perspective
👍👍👍👍🚀
Where's Adrian's skvirrel?
Wen launch? It is !soon
June 6
Launch date ?
please no background music on updates :(
Will the launch still be June 5th?
No. That’s Starliner, at least right now.
Let's go
🇧🇷
Boom!💥
Props Adrian. Ur my favorite lol
"This is indicates testing or the final stack"
I dont know what that means. Im confused or thats a typo. Lol
Basically the standing moving away means they're either gonna do some testing that involves clearing the area (cryo fluids with deluge for example) or that they're just going for launch in which case they definitely won't be needing a stand for the ship again
Should be new permanent host. 👏
Very good host
Go for Flight 4!!!
From this point forward, anyone who believes Elon’s timelines regarding anything is a slow learner.
Yeah. Really slow, since he was probably late being born.
I totally agree.
Elon has been very conservative with his time estimates as of late.
3 tiles are still missing
Yeah that's what we talk about in the video
@@ale131296 my mistake, I missed that part
Hey Elon 😂🎉❤
I am thrilled to watch another rocket launch that doesn't go anywhere. I am also curious to see how many times they can improve the heat shielding and keep failing. It's like watching an incredibly expensive and huge firework go off each time, and I love fireworks!
It's incredible, it feels like we are living in a futuristic world similar to the movie ''Idiocracy'', which is awesome!
That attitude gets you nowhere
@@mateomccathern8030 Took me farther than these rockets, lol
It has nothing to do with SpaceX. You just don't like Elon. Face it.
@@motokid6008 Absolutely. What relevance does the poster child for Darpa have to me? He lacks authority and creativity, merely relying on welfare payments. All of his projects have been unsuccessful, and any achievements attributed to him were actually the work of other people.
@@FACTCHECKEDbyGoogle - "all projects unsuccessful" SpaceX is wildly successful to the point where one could say it is America's greatest asset because of the exclusive capability they provide. "Work of other people". Oh that's only when there's success like with every SpaceX launch. But the moment there's criticism to be had suddenly he's chief engineer. Funny how that works.
Great news ❕
Diss goes wit dat goes witt dees....deeze nuts..
Good to see you in front of the camera, Adrian. I am wondering if you are healthy. It's been a while that I have seen yua dn am wondering if everything is ok?
5:17 the should change the name on the sign to read “gateway to bankruptcy”
Reeeeeally hard to go bankrupt when they're printing money left right and center
@@ale131296 space x isn’t anywhere near profitable. They’re surviving purely on grants and nasa contracts that will likely dry up soon.
In fact, this year might be their first profitable one. Any positive cash flow in prior years was paying off the billions in losses from a dozen years prior.
@@ale131296 this is their first profitable year. It’ll be several more before they are even able to pay off their investment debts.
Printing money?? Haha. There’s no world where they are printing money. In fact, it’s highly questionable if they’ll be profitable at all. Ever.
@@ale131296 maybe one day you can put on your big boy pants and actually learn some facts about how much “printing” they do.
@@ale131296 stupid is as stupid says.
Has SpaceX got FAA approval to launch on June 5th?
I don’t think they have launch license and they are targeting the sixth instead of the fifth
The answer to this question is in the video itself...
👍👍👍🇮🇳
Lets do this!!
edhe une me qet 24. ore mjafte. deshiroj. te. rrih i qete.
Be excellent to each other..
I cant give you a thumbs up their is no thumb in up in your video.
Dear Moon falls victim to Elon's over promising.
It's like watching your buddy make home made fireworks.... only your buddy has a billion dollars to spend on them.
Could you fix the intro audio? It get painfully loud in the end, especially when im trying to watch this early morning without waking the kids up. And its annoying to mute the intro each time.
.
This is admittedly 🦇💩🤪, but I wonder if they could attach the tiles to springs... 🤔
As I suspect that they fall off for one of two reasons: either because of vibration during engine firing, or, due to the attachment points moving from thermal changes.
th
Canceling Dear Moon sucks for everyone excited, but it's going to be a long time before humans are riding on Starship and you can't blame someone who spent so much money and probably just wants to move on with his life.
Elon probably had some part in this as dealing with his personality for years on end is probably very different than if it was Tony Bruno or someone like that.
Such a weak reason to cancel Dear Moon. He probably just needs the cash - as if it was definitely going to be on time.
just you.Woot...so not punny and few bacon smells..good report..but gotta say your not looker..more pics of space stuff..less bread/beard..
Test tank to start off with? BOOOOORING 😂
Mate, a man-bun is never a good look. Snip-snip.
Judgmental statements about another's appearance was tired rhetoric decades ago!?
@@michaeldeierhoi4096 Still not a good look.
Moneyburner, no significant goals reached, zero survival rate, no backup system, overcomplicated cascading failure by design.... out of schedule for Artemis mission.
SpaceX doesn't release financials, but high launch cadence suggests no money issues. 2 is blatantly false unless you ignore the entire rocket factory and launch site that was built in 4 years. Doesn't need any survival rate at the current time in development. Backup systems are incorporated where necessary. Landing and resusing rockets is nothing short of complicated no matter what you do. Get Elon out of your head or start charging him rent.
for one moment i thought they had a new female reporter, until i looked at my screen (joking)
Starship will launch before Starliner. Boeing is a joke.
I just hope the doors stay on when the do launch.
I think it will explode....again.😂
THis guy has a very apealing voice, but it doesn't sound like him
Why not show the aerial images of RGV Aerial Photography instead of a bad satellite images?
Please stop saying 'in case you live under a rock' ..... not everybody sees the world through your eyes, otherwise the presentation is all good..
stop lying to us, they changed the launch date so ula could get their lunch in first
I don't remember that NASA SF ever started lying and since launch times get changed frequently it is incredibly naive and presumptuous of you to assume they are lying!
