    Napoli deserves to win the title this season. The way they’ve replaced the likes of Insigne, Koulibaly, and Mertens with the likes of Khvicha, Kim and Raspadori are crazy. Spalletti deserves to win at least once to make up for the numerous times he has come close only to miss out on it marginally.

    Napoli fan here. Great analysis. Only one thing to note: Lobotka is far from the typical, static "number 6", Jorginho-style. He is incredibly dinamic and carries the ball a lot. Sometimes the midfield triangle inverts and he becomes almost an attacking midfielder. In my opinion he is by far Napoli's most important player. Truly a joy to watch.

    People have been sleeping on Spalletti for years even though he's played some of the best football in Italy since the mid 2000s. He's credited for inventing the false 9, launched the careers of players such as Salah and Rudiger, and made a chain-smoking borderline alcoholic Nainggolan the best midfielder in Europe in 2018

    • @areebsiddiqui758
      @areebsiddiqui758 2 ปีที่แล้ว +15

    Another thing to consider is that Fabian Ruiz left the club, even tho he's really talented he didn't fit the style that Napoli wanted to play. He was really good when the pace of the game was slow but not as much when there was the need of getting the pace of the game up. Also Lobotka is really instrumental and is stepping up big time with really consistent performances, he's never the star of the show but he enables all the other players to do what they want to do.

  • @shottskies
    @shottskies 2 ปีที่แล้ว +16

    I think the key point in your analysis is how adaptable their style can be, they can sit back at times or play on the front foot and their football is based more on exploiting moments. That right there is the most important point and is more commonplace I think particularly in calcio and football on the continent in general perhaps. Real madrid also play this way but the reason why they're so good is their players have so much quality and intelligence. It is football that puts more emphasis on tactics and understanding your opponent as opposed to ideologies or mantras about "playing a certain way". Being tactical is important in the champions league.

    Spalleti is extremely underrated. Everyone considered Sarri a revolutionary strategist even though Spalleti was playing the so called "Sarrisimo" 10 years before Sarri showed up in Serie A. I don't know how much say he had in recruitment but his biggest talent is getting the maximum out of his players. He transformed Totti's play style and and put him in his peak form and he made De Rossi from absolute zero to hero, in his second spell, he made average Nainggolan into an absolute menace(my favourite midfielder to watch). He's doing the same in Napoli now, the players just seem happy and fired up. That style of management is the most consistent and sustainable, tactics change, injuries happen but when you know you can rely on every player to do their best, the results come automatically. He basically ignited Kvara, Raspadori, Anguissa, Kim, Ndombele and others in their first season, I've never seen so many signings performing so well right away, especially after the team let go of literally 2 of their best players they had since Maradona.

    Napoli has lost lot of veterans and replaced them with younger and more motivated players however I think, paradoxically that the best move during last market window was to have sold Fabian Ruiz.
    He is a top player, so please do not mistake my words, but without him we are much faster and balanced in the midfield. Without him Lobotka is having more space to play and gaining continuity Moreover Lobotka gives much more support to the defence than Ruiz, giving space to Anguissa and Zielinsky to go up. With Fabian Anguissa was forced to play always next to him to support the defence.

    This type of game plan requires the players to be extremely fit and committed. The issue is therefore fatigue- whether it can be sustained throughout the season, season to season, with older players, players recovering from injury/ carrying injuries etc. Liverpool rely on a very dynamic style and exhibit the downside this season. They miss the athleticism of Mane and a lot of important players are getting on a bit.

      @@vivelagauche3564 That's more an illustration what it takes to stop Napoli. Fiorentina doesn't play like that normally, and they still got only a draw. And they have a good defensive left back.
      Lazio came to mind because the last goal they received from open play in Serie A, which I think is the only one, was scored by Kvara. That was more than a month ago as well.

      Agreed, Lazio under sarri are a really good team with lots of quality in the team. Sarri is one of the best coaches in the world but he doesn't get the credit due to so much bias in world football going to England and the premier league.

      @@canonsunited582 Raspadori is more well rounded technically (better dribbler, passer and about the same in shooting/finishing) but Osimhen is a better player for sure.. his speed strength, workrate, and the problems he causes defenders even when he doesnt score makes him the much better player as a striker, good thing for raspadori is he can also play wing and behind striker too so he is not only backing up Osimhen

      @@theportugueselegend Amsterdam is a lovely city, so is Naples. But the allure of London, Paris or Madrid is something different. Its about living the high life full of glitz and glamour. @@areebsiddiqui758 good try but London, Paris and Madrid are no Napoli. Once a player falls in love with the city they don’t want to leave. The only time they want to leave is when there are issues with playing time or within the club. Napoli is essentially a paradise.
