      British politicians are the lowest paid in the Western world, even the head of a reasonably large school are paid more than the Prime Minister, leaders of small provincial towns paid more, so if you want other countries known to offer 'inducements' to politicians to pay them in your stead then also be aware they want something back for their money.

    So let me get this right. The OBR only have access to the info provided by the Tories, just as the opposition do, and the Tories withheld info from the OBR meaning them and Labour in opposition could not view that information, but now Labour are in power they can view the information in full and have now disclosed it in full, therefore demonstrating hunt lied.
    That should be a prison worthy offence but because he’s a politician he gets off with a slap on the wrist
    Also, him moaning about above inflation pay rises is amusing. If it wasn’t for austerity and then crippling the public sector we’d not need huge rises. However that is not the case and public sector needs those rises to stop talent bleeding into the private sector
    Also, the pay rise for junior docs is over 2 years, but of course he leaves that bit out.
    What a disgraceful liar
    Edit: I fully agree with the guy who mentioned gross negligence in politics. Absolutely agree. Doctors and nurses are held to higher standards than the people literally running the country and it’s a disgrace to put it nicely.

    • @spacelem
      @spacelem 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +15

      Maybe... but consider that that would make it disproportionately harder for poorer people to become MPs, meaning the wealthier self-interested ones would be more likely to do the job (it's not like Rishi Sunak or Boris Johnson needed the money). How can Jeremy Hunt ask the junior doctors for more productivity in return for a decent pay rise when they are already overworked ? Under the Tories the NHS has had a recruitment and retention problem. Now that Rachel Reeves has given them a 22% pay rise the recruitment and retention problem is solved and there is less chance of junior doctors striking.

  • @matthewgee8122

    22% pay rise for junior doctors was the bare minimum they deserved. Highly educated people that the NHS and Britain NEED. If their pay had kept pace with inflation over the last 14 years, there wouldn't have been the need for a double digit hike. @@LOVELYBENSMITH123 such an ignorant comment. Typical starting salary for a doctor was working out to be around £12 per hour. Of course they're learning their trade...most people in skilled roles never stop learning, that doesn't justify paying them peanuts. Imagine being a very clever person, that's completed a degree lasting 5 years (high costs involved) and then on-job training for another 4 years and massively antisocial hours to earn around 42k a year. But that's fine, take them for granted, have a failing NHS and massive shift to privatisation and you'll truly experience the cost of these worthless trainees. Have a look at the basic costs of medical insurance alone in the states. All of a sudden 22% will seem very reasonable.
