- The chancellor is shown a TV clip from the election campaign on 11 June in which she said: "We don't need higher taxes. What we need is growth, and I don't want to, and I have no plans to increase any taxes beyond those which we have already set out."
Yet this week, she raised the overall tax burden by £40bn, so we asked her why anyone should believe a word she tells the public going forward.

Isnt is fair and reasonable that if tories hoodwinked parliament and the regulatory body as to the state of the public purse, that she has a strong defence to say that any decisions or thoughts she communicated (based on that false information) isnt a valid argument? I am a small business owner, I’m barely surviving as is. Why am I not considered as ‘working person’? I will have to draw less salary every month (by the way some months I hardly draw anything because I don’t have anything to draw). I cannot pay my staff more now and I won’t be able to hire anyone. I’m devastated as a result.

Why would anyone start a business when they will be punished with higher taxation and forced to pay higher wages. All that will happen now is that there will be layoffs because employers won't be able to keep their staff. Or people will see the cost of everything skyrocket because businesses will have to raise the prices to make up the difference.

I remember the last Labour government where the NHS waiting list was smaller, food was more affordable, food banks were in lower digits and politics had less of a dominant narrative in our daily lives.
